Good morning to you!
Mine started off on a frustrating note with hours of server errors, but it’s still a good morning nonetheless… because it’s Friday. I apologize to anyone who clicked over today and got a “no data received” page. No? Just me? Apparently, the world (including tech support) could see my site working just fine, but I got kicked out and error-ed every time I tried to make a change or publish a post this morning. Gosh, that’s annoying.
I also apologize for taking an unannounced and unexpected leave from the blog this week. It was just one of those weeks where I needed some time in the mornings to just exist. It’s a healing process. Some of you may not understand, but I think that most of you do, and I love you for it. Thank you for all of your continued love and support as we navigate our way through the next few months.
Anyways, I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to the weekend. We are meeting with friends tonight for a fajita party (yum!), we are celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow (still figuring out those plans), and we are bringing a friend to church for the first time with us on Sunday. We’ve got some fun things to look forward to!
In true Friday Fashion, I’ll stop blubbering and get onto this week’s edition of Friday Favorites. Below is what I have been loving this week, and I hope you’ll play along in the comments and link-up sections, too!
Friday Favorites #128: Week of 2/12
• Michael Kors rose gold watch
I’ve wanted a gold or rose gold Michael Kors watch for years. Years and years, actually. I’ve mentioned this to Scott a few times, but the last thing I expected to show up under the Christmas tree this year was this beautiful accessory.
(this may be the same one?)
Apparently, he had some credit to use at WatchStation and gifted it to me through this lovely piece of jewelry. I was shocked when I opened it and felt horrible for not getting him anything (as we decided not to get presents for each other this year). Needless to say, I was very grateful and have enjoyed wearing it any time that I’m not in gym clothes.
It looks like the exact model I have isn’t offered at WatchStation anymore, but the new collection is pretty awesome. You can also find them at most high-end department stores. (similar, similar, similar)
• Sephora fiber masks
First of all, Sephora should always be included in my list of favorites. Because, obviously.
Second, have you ever seen these fiber masks?
These are different than any other masks I’ve tried because instead of applying a thick layer of liquid mask, there is a natural fiber sheet, each with a skin refreshing benefit. They come in several different flavors and were introduced to me by my friends Brittany and Missy.
They’re pretty scary to see on, but once I peeled it off after fifteen minutes, my skin felt so refreshed and hydrated… I guess the weird stares from Scott were worth it. I’ve already used the Pomegranate and can’t wait to try the rest!
• Scott’s NBA mascot bobblehead collection
This may seem random, but something that made me smile this week was looking at Scott’s NBA mascot bobblehead collection.
After an unfortunate incident at his (now old) job, a box of bobble heads that he started collecting well over fifteen years ago disappeared. They’re fun little figurines that he worked hard to gather over the course of his career working in the NBA and visiting other arenas, one team at a time.
Since that happened a few years ago, Scott has slowly replaced his collection, one character at a time. It isn’t quite complete yet, but he’s getting close! I think it’s so cute.
And yes, that’s me in that picture above them in my Orlando Magic dancer days giving our mascot, STUFF, a high five during a time out. If I had to guess, I would say it was circa 2009?
Those were the days!
• the return of #TGIT
I would be lying if I said that one of the reasons my post wasn’t up at the normal before-sunrise hour is because of #TGIT.
I totally forgot that my favorite shows (Grey’s Anatomy & Scandal) made their return to Prime Time television last night until a client asked if I would be watching them. I asked Scott to make sure that they were recording, and couldn’t help but to dive into them as soon as I got home from working at the gym.
I won’t spoil anything… but HOLY Grey’s, you guys. I was not expecting that! I’m so glad Shonda is back in my life!
• Jessica Simpson pumps
I purchased these sassy ankle strap pumps at DSW back in December. They’re labeled a Camby Pump by Jessica Simpson, and I am quickly falling for almost every style of shoe I’ve tried on in her line.
These are black suede, which were perfect to wear out to events and then actually in our friend’s wedding on New Year’s Eve. It’s a little too chilly out to enjoy them right now, but I’m looking forward to turning to them more when it heats up outside!
(Tomorrow is a high of ten. A high of ten degrees, y’all. Wow.)
• travel plans
Scott and I have a few trips planned over the next month, but they’re different than most. All flights were covered with frequent flyer miles, we’ll be staying with friends who live in the city(ies), and we aren’t trying to spend a lot of money exploring restaurants and on entertainment.
Instead, we’ll be enjoying some much needed time with people we love and might also be checking out potential cities for our next chapter together. But shhh, I didn’t tell you that. The first stop is New York City, and I can’t wait to get there already!
