Welcome to the Beauty page! Here you can expect to find beauty products I love and tutorials that pop up on the blog all in one place.
(My Top 10 Beauty products I turn to day after day.)
• Lee Stafford hair treatment
I have always had trouble getting my hair to grow past a certain length. Julie raved about this hair treatment so much that I decided to try it and got hooked after the very first use!
It’s by Lee Stafford and is literally called Treatment for Hair That Never Grows Past a Certain Length. I picked this container up at Ulta for $11.99. After just a couple uses, I can already tell my hair feels stronger and more conditioned. Plus, it smells like heaven and Abercrombie man. So there’s that.
• Derm skincare
Don’t laugh (okay, fine… you can), but I totally got wrapped into an infomercial showcasing Derm skincare one random night when I was home alone and unable to sleep at 2 a.m. I ended up watching the commercial for thirty minutes (what?!) and bought the entire line right then and there.
There was a 30-Day money-back guarantee, so I really had nothing to lose. As it turns out, I really, really, really love everything in it. The price isn’t cheap, but it is comparable to other quality skincare lines.
I have replaced my supply twice, just put in my order for the next shipment yesterday, and even got Scott hooked on some of the products. Oh, and that Fill & Freeze some of you asked me about? It’s AMAZING and does wonders for wrinkles, y’all! Just sayin’.
• discount quality shampoo & conditioner
In need of a shampoo and conditioner restock, I stopped into Sally’s Beauty Supply this week and figured I would give something new (and cheaper than what I normally buy) a try.
The bottle and smell reminded me of the Biolage brand I love, which is exactly what the saleswoman compared it to when I asked her about it. I’ve used the set twice this week with my hair treatment, and I can already tell an improvement in the moisture level of my hair. It’s so much softer.
A definite win!
• L’Oreal Sublime self-tanner
I know I have mentioned this specific product on the blog close to a handful of times.
There are plenty of different self-tanners out there, and you can find a full list of my favorites in my Spray and Self-Tanning 101 post.
This exact version of Sublime (Instant Action) works immediately after you put it on, and I have been applying it every couple of days to keep somewhat of a “tan” going. I chose to quote “tan” because it’s necessary. Tan is one thing I am not these days. But hey, at least there are self-tanners like these to help a sister out!
• bareMinerals Bronzer
I have been using bareMinerals makeup for years. I turned to MAC bronzers in my dancing days, but I finally ran out of my stash of them last week.
Instead of replacing my MAC compact, I made a trip to Ulta and gave thebareMinerals READY bronzer in The Skinny Dip a try.
I absolutely love it!
• curling wands
I feel like my hair is finally starting to grow. Woo hoo! It’s out of the awkward length and is long enough to curl. To celebrate, I have been putting my straightener aside and turning to my curling wands instead for the last several months.
If the thought of using a curling wand intimidates you, don’t let it. I shared a tutorial on how I curl my hair last year and – believe me – if I can train myself to do it, so can you!
• Johnson’s Baby Moisture Wash
I have been prone to skin rashes in the past. I don’t know if it’s seasonal allergies, food related, or what, but something will occasionally cause my skin to become irritated and make me an itch monster. I constantly scratch and have woken up with patches of rashes!
A friend of mine recommended the idea of trying old fashioned baby soap in the shower to replace my current wash.
I have been using this Johnson’s Baby Moisture Wash for months and I have noticed a huge improvement and calmer skin! Who knew?
• Yes To Carrots anti-frizz serum
I have mentioned the Yes To Carrots organic hair and skincare line a couple of times on the blog, but I can’t recall if I have highlighted this specific item yet. I have been using this anti-frizz serum on my wet hair and it has worked wonderfully for scrunching and naturally shaping my curls while it air dries!
To be fair, I already have naturally curly hair, but I really didn’t expect it it tame the frizz as much as it did. It’s been nice to occasionally go au naturel.
• Younique 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara
A friend and former co-worker of mine sent me a sample of a mascara she absolutely swears by. It’s called Younique 3D fiber lashes mascara and comes in a fancy schmansy travel case.
Priced at $29 a kit, this stuff has to be pretty darn amazing to be the “new mascara that’s selling out at the blink of an eye”, according to AllParenting.com. Well friends… it is.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1) Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler if you normally do (I don’t) and apply your regular mascara like normal.
Step 2) Apply a coat of the gel (the taller bottle) over your mascara coat.
Step 3) Apply a coat of the fluffy (the shorter bottle) fiber brush.
Step 4) Apply the gel one more time for one final coat.

• Biotin vitamin gummies
My hairdressers have been telling me to take biotin supplements for years. I have tried it to grow out my hair on and off over the past five of them, but never consistently.
After I chopped off my hair earlier this summer, I took that as a chance to start with a shorter, clean slate. I have been trying to get it back to it’s natural color (whatever that is) and grow it out again without all of the damage attached to the ends from constantly styling and dying it for games over the past six seasons.
I have always been horrible at taking vitamins, so I gravitate towards vitamin gummies for an every day multi-vitamin. So far, I haven’t missed many days since I started and have easily added these vitafusion Biotin gummies into my routine.
It’s kind of like a fruit snack treat I oddly look forward to every morning!
