When you think of a cold and refreshing drink (you might, I dont know… enjoy on a beach?), what kind of fruits and ingredient combinations come to mind?
For me, coconut is a no brainer quickly followed by mango and banana. Add a little bit of lime into the mix and you have my dream team of ingredients for a delicious smoothie.
That tri-fecta would taste great on its own, but I decided to include more substance to this fresh fruit drink with a few additions of protein.
I have been a fan of almondmilk for years. I still drink and use organic skim milk on occasion, but I really enjoy the extra boost of flavor and creamier texture in mixtures like Almond Breeze Almondmilk Coconutmilk.
Almondmilk Coconutmilk is a delicious (vegan!) alternative to dairy and soymilk with a touch of coconut. It comes in a line of varieties and is oh, so dreamy!
Some additional benefits of Almond Breeze Almondmilk Coconutmilk include:
• dairy, soy, lactose, cholesterol, and gluten free!
• made from real coconut & almond
• excellent source of calcium, Vitamin D & E
• 45 calories per 1 cup serving (60 calories for sweetened flavors)
Naturally, a dairy-free milk like almondmilk coconutmilk is easy to use in recipes, especially in smoothies!
As soon as I got wind of the coconut and almond mixture, my mind instantly went to the tropics. Mango and coconut are two of my favorite flavors to mix together, so I used that as inspiration to create the ultimate post-workout protein smoothie combination.
Even if you decide to leave out the whey protein powder, you can still benefit from a healthy dose of protein from the almondmilk coconutmilk and Greek yogurt (19 grams!).
Enjoy as a healthy lunch, or pack it with extra protein and treat yourself after a workout!
1 ripe mango, cut into pieces
1 cup Almond Breeze Almondmilk Coconutmilk Original Unsweetened
6 oz. plain Greek yogurt
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder (optional)
2-4 Tbsp. agave nectar (to taste)
2 Tbsp. shredded coconut
the juice from 1/2 a lime
1-2 cups crushed ice (to thickness taste)
prep time: 5 minutes
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend together until smooth. Enjoy immediately!
Serve as is or line your glasses in coconut shavings (yum!) and a slice of lime.
Simply dip the top of your glass into agave nectar drizzled onto a plate…
… then dip it into another plate of coconut shavings.
Question of the Morning
• What is your favorite ingredient combination to use with coconut?
