I got an invite via Facebook for my 10 year High School Reunion yesterday.
—> Excuse me while I go cry in the corner.
REALLY?! Has it already been that long?
It’s only been 9… but still. The fact that plans are in the works for our 10 year high school reunion just seems crazy to me.
(Let’s re-visit this in a minute.)
Breakfast
I couldn’t decided what I wanted on top of my Kashi waffles today. Finally I smothered one in peanut butter and one in apple butter, then topped them both with a sliced banana, chia seeds and drizzled all natural mango honey.
I’m loving this honey we bought at a Farmer’s Market about a month ago.
When Scott gets back we’ll have to go again to pick out another flavor.
PS: It goes without saying that any breakfast I post here is accompanied by a large cup of coffee. I don’t really picture this a lot, but it certainly happens.
1 Year ’til my 10 Year
Scott and I just went up to Arkansas for his something past 10 year high school reunion. I was a decade younger than everyone, without kids, wearing a summer dress on the coolest night of the month. I definitely wasn’t the most comfortable person there.
Luckily, after a few hours of small talk and a few rounds of drinks, a dance party started and we ended up having a blast.
Why does everyone cringe when they hear the phrase high school reunion?
I’m certainly guilty of it, and can’t figure out why. High school was high school for me… it wasn’t really good or bad.
We all go through different walks during those four (mostly awkward) years, and everyone leaves with a different experience. Some people wish they were back in high school all over again while others are still trying to block out memories.
I preferred my college years over high school – tenfold. I would actually go back to college again, just to re-live the experience.
In high school, I never really got to involved with anything. I went to class, had a decent amount of friends, then went to dance at my ballet studio. I didn’t really leave any marks or stories behind, and I feel like that only started in my sophomore year of college while dancing with the USF Sundolls.
Since then I’ve gone through a lot of ups, downs and everything in-between. We all have… right?
😉
I find it funny when people go to great lengths just to try and impress former classmates. I never understood the “competition” people put up to be the most successful or prettiest or best. At what? Life? I’d love to meet who judges that.
Does anyone remember Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion? The girls exercise like crazy, rent a sports car and make up stories about how they invented the Post-it. Eventually, they get caught up in lies and reveal who they really are.
It used to be one of my favorite movies, mainly for the dance scene at the end.
Please tell me you think this is as amazing as I do.
While thinking about how much time has flown by yesterday, I reflected on the last 9 years of my life: everything I’ve done since high school.
Then I went over to thinking about my 27th birthday coming up.
Finally, my thoughts swarmed around turning 30 and I can’t help but wonder what will happen in my life from now until then.
Whatever it is, I’m not sure I want to know. Life has certainly been an adventure the last few years and I’m still up for the ride.
No plans set in stone, no expectations, no trying to impress people I haven’t seen in 10 years.
Questions:
Have you attended a high school reunion?
Does thinking about it make you upset in any way? Excited?

Thanks Sarah! I don’t know why…but I love capturing my feet because I think it shows where I’m going and where I’ve been. 🙂 Great idea!
