Hi friends! It looks like I’m checking in later than normal again. Today has been a busy one, so I guess that’s just how it’s going to be from time to time. Hey, what’cha gonna do…
Jumping right in to what you probably clicked over for, I wanted to continue on with this year’s Holiday Gift Guides! I have received great feedback from the ones I’ve previously posted:
2014 Holiday Gift Guide: Fitness Goodies
2014 Holiday Gift Guide: For Her
2014 Holiday Gift Guide: For Him
I’m so glad y’all are finding this series useful!
This one highlights items anyone interested in spending a decent amount of time in the kitchen or hosting parties would love.
Do you have a great gift idea I’m missing?
Feel free to share at the bottom!
• quality cutting board
Whether it’s plastic or wood, someone who is often found cutting and chopping in the kitchen would appreciate a nice cutting board.
Scott and I purchased this one from Williams Sonoma last year and it’s been my favorite to use since then. In fact, it rarely leaves our counter.
(Australian Big Chop Rectangular Cutting Board)
You can even personalize them with an initial or engraving. There’s tons of options out there.
• onion (fruit & veggie) chopper
Now that I know they exist… this is one kitchen gadget I will never go without. Instead of dicing and crying for what seems like forever while chopping onions, cut one into quarters and let an onion dicer do the rest. It’s so much quicker and a lot less painful.
After years and years of use, the plastic on chipped and broke over the weekend. You better believe I’m replacing it! The cheapest I’ve seen them is the Onion Chopper Dicer at Walmart, but you can find them at most kitchen and home stores like .
• mixing bowls
Does your favorite foodie have a matching set of mixing bowls? If not, it’s a great gift idea. We received a set from Crate & Barrel as a wedding gift, and I can’t tell you how many times I have also used them to serve chips, dips, and other party foods.
()
• mortar & pestle
This is another item Scott and I registered for when we got married. Mortar and pestle sets are used to crush fresh herbs, spices, and ingredients to make homemade dips like guacamole and hummus. They come in different sizes and looks in marble, granite, wood, porcelain, bamboo and even volcanic lava rock!
()
We had our eye on from Crate & Barrel. You can find other great ones: ,, and.
• salad spinner
Scott actually introduced me to the salad spinner. It makes prepping and storing salads so much easier!
You can wash as you go, or just throw everything in and give it a good wash and spin to dry when you’re done putting it together. More spinners to look at: here, here (<- fancy stainless steel) and here (<- under $10). Genius!
• silicone oven mits & pot holders
Once again, this is something Scott and I registered for and use every single time we open the oven. After getting a set of silicone oven mits and pot holders, we gave all of our other random and mis-matched ones away. The silicone gives a great grip and also provides a thicker barrier between you and the hot dish.
(OXO Silicone Oven Mit with Magnet)
I love the colored options from OXO, and can only assume any foodie would be happy to receive a set for themselves.
• knife sharpener
A quality set of knives is a popular gift for a someone who likes to prepare meals, but do they have a knife sharpener? We currently don’t own one (do we, Scott?), and it’s something we truly need sooner than later.
(Wustof Classic Ikon Manual Knife Sharpener)
You can go for the , a simple blade and handle, or something in between. I would love any of them!
• specialty olive oils & vinegars
Most foodies are obsessed with flavored olive oils and vinegars. My all-time favorite shop to order them from is EVOO.
(Trader Joe’s Infused Olive Oil Gift Set)
These bottles are amazing for mixing up fresh dressings and dips!
• garlic mincer
This one ranks right up there with the onion chopper for me. Once I learned the garlic press existed, there’s no way I would go back to mincing garlic any other way.
It’s kind of annoying to clean, but way better than chopping garlic into tiny pieces if you ask me!
• cookbooks
You can never go wrong with a good old fashioned cook book.
( by Sarah Copeland)
Some of my favorites include:
– The Newlywed’s Cookbook by Ryland, Peters, & Small
– Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics by Ina Garden
– Smoothies and Beyond by Tori Richie
– Mastering My Mistakes in the Kitchen by Dana Cowin
– Cook This, Not That by David Zinczenko & Matt Goulding
Additional ideas worth checking out:
>> a for your cookbook (I would love one of these!)
>> a cutesy apron (previously shared on my Holiday Gift Guide: For Her)
>> a (want!)
>> a nice pairing knife – want to invest in a quality set and not sure where to start? Here.
>> a really nice wooden spoon – you can never have too many of them!

Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
Great gift round up! I have a lot of these in my kitchen and use them frequently. The salad spinne rdoes involve more cleaning, but I have been using it more to wash spinach and lettuce which is important. Thanks for putting this together!
Heather
If nothing else, I always use the salad spinner for spinach and lettuce. It’s great for getting it dry quickly!
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance
So many great ideas! Loving those bowls and you definitely need a knife sharpener for Christmas! I have one and it changes everything. I still get my knives sharpened professionally once every 6 months or so but feel like I’m going to hack a hand off when I get them back haha! Knife sharpener is the safer route 😉
Heather
Ha, I think so too! That’s a great idea to go have them professionally sharpened. Thanks for the ideas!
Kimberly
A popular DIY gift this year seems to be homemade vanilla. So easy to do (vodka and vanilla beans) and you can gift it in cute bottles. It’s one DIY gift I wouldn’t mind receiving!
Heather
That sounds adorable and very practical. Thanks for sharing!
Bri
Awesome ideas! Thanks for sharing! Now to narrow it down to just one or two that *I* really want. 🙂
Heather
Ha, I would be lying if I said I created these without hoping to secretly nudge loved ones of my own. It kind if is a great wish list for me as well… 😉

Tupperware spatula. Once you’ve tried it you will never buy another brand. (I’m NOT a tupperware sales rep)
Heather
Sounds like a great product!
