After I published this morning’s blog post, I sat down and put together a new HIIT workout I could easily do at home or on the road.
The only piece of equipment required (besides a furry workout buddy, apparently) is some kind of timer or stopwatch to keep track of your times.
I chose to incorporate a set of 10 pound dumbbells for the squats, push-up rotations, sit-ups, wall sits, and side plank pulses, but adding the extra weight is completely optional.
I used my Gymboss Interval Timer to help me with the exercise intervals, but you could easily keep track of your time on any stop watch or smart phone.
I set it to time out thirteen rounds of :45 with a :15 rest. In case you’re confused, I factored in the right and left sides of the side plank pulses separately.
That means the whole circuit is thirteen minutes long. Make sure to rest a minute or two before repeating, and after you complete the series twice through you’ll be close to thirty minutes of a killer workout!
I mean, I usually put somewhat of a challenging workout together, but this one took me by surprise. I was sweaty before the first round was over and when I was completely finished I just kind of sat there for a few minutes.
Dead.

Lunch
After a shower, I made my way down to the kitchen with the appetite of three grown men. It’s unreal these days.
As quick as I could, I threw together some sort of Southwest salad to curb my cravings for beans, corn, and spicy.
Spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, black beans, corn, and black olives topped in black pepper with a side of hot salsa for dressing.
All I was missing was a sliced avocado. Even without it, the combo was still so, so good. I might just have it again for dinner!
Well that was fun! Now I need to log off and get back to the books. I hope you all have a great rest of your Thursday.
See you all back bright and early tomorrow with Friday Favorites!
Question of the Afternoon
• Do you ever use something unconventional for salad dressing?
I do! Salsa is my go-to for any type of taco or Southwest salad, but I also love using hummus. Give it a try if you haven’t already!
