Hello everyone, and good morning to ya!
It’s a chilly one up here in Michigan clocking in at about 28°F. On our walk this morning, Roadie and I came across our first frozen patch of puddle water. Curiosity got the best of me and I just had to “cross” it.
It cracked about two steps into it, so it’s a very good thing I tested my curiosity out on a puddle, not a lake! Ha.
I am planning on going to the gym a little later this morning, but feel great after yesterday’s workout. I went to sleep with that “I feel good” feeling and woke up the same exact way.
I have been loving the Fitness Pilates classes offered at my gym, and have gone for the last few Mondays and Wednesdays. It is a full hour of isolated muscle movements and resistance training that targets the core, arms, legs, and other muscles I didn’t even know I had.
Yesterday I took the Noon class, then hopped on the elliptical for thirty minutes. It was my first time since the move that I went into an elliptical workout with an actual structure, and it was full of intervals! Who wants in?
30 Minute Interval Elliptical Workout
I started by choosing the interval workout program on the elliptical machine, because I was curious to see what it was. About ninety percent of my elliptical workouts are interval, because I feel a need to press buttons and keep busy. After a few minutes, I left the incline alone and just upped the resistance levels every so often.
Basically – after the warm up – every two minutes switches between a medium incline/medium resistance to a high incline/high resistance. Every machine seems to be a little different, so feel free to modify as needed.
Leaving the gym, I felt like I just worked every muscle in my body and it was glorious.
I had worked up quite the appetite, and on the car ride home I had one of my favorite snack staples: a Zone Perfect Protein Bar. This was my first time trying the Dark Chocolate Almond flavor, and it was pretty darn delicious!
The bar held me over just long enough to make one of my biggest monster green salads yet. I basically took the leftovers of the previous day’s green salad and added corn, peas, sunflower seeds, more tomatoes, and more black olives.
I added a little pepper, then replaced the dressing with a big ‘ol dollop of Sabra Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. It was quite the tasty one, and I have a feeling I might try to repeat it today for lunch.
To wash it all down, I filled a tumbler with ice water and a few squeezes of fresh lemon. I love how refreshing anything with fresh lemons taste!
I try to drink at least four of those a day, and I usually do a pretty good job if I am sitting at home on the computer. It’s when I am on-the-go that I need to remember to hydrate.
Well, I am off to a busy day. Hope yours is wonderful!
Question of the Day
• Do you prefer interval workouts, or think having to change up resistance and incline is more of a pain?
