Hi friends! I feel like this week has been all over the place with blogging, so why not round it out with a good ‘ol survey?
I bookmarked this lovely little survey after seeing Julie, Gina and a few others fill it out this summer, and I thought it would be fun to answer and share on a rainy day. Well, it’s not raining, but it does feel like fall today. And since I’m not quite ready for the drastic temperature drop, I’m pulling out the “rainy day” card. I don’t think many of you will argue my theory!
I always like to get to know more about the bloggers behind the blogs I read, so hopefully you enjoy reading these types of surveys, too. If not, I’ll see you back here tomorrow with Friday Favorites. Happy Thursday!
A to Z Survey
A – Age: 30
B – Biggest Fear: snakes, alligators, dark water, heights, snakes in dark water… etc. (I’m a real treat to go canoeing with!)
C – Current Time: 11:21 a.m.
D – Drink You Had Last: coffee! Fun fact, sometimes it takes me several hours to drink one (huge) morning cup of coffee.
If I’m out and about, I’ll drink it quickly, but if I brew it myself to enjoy at home while working on the computer, it’s very likely that I will be sipping on it and carrying it around the house until lunch. Cold and all. I know, I’m a freak.
E – Easiest Person To Talk To: girlfriends I grew up with! Even though I don’t get to see them very often, and even if we haven’t spoken in months, we pick up right where we left off any time we do talk or visit. Aren’t those friendships the best?
F – Favorite Song: Can’t Feel My Face by The Weeknd. I just can’t stop dancing to it! (Even if I can feel my face.)
G – Grossest Memory: closing the trunk door to Scott’s Jeep on my own head, bleeding everywhere, and having to get a long row of staples put into my head months before our wedding. You guys, I’m pretty awesome.
H – Hometown: Orlando, Florida! Well, technically, Longwood (which is about 30 minutes outside of the city). I was born and raised in Central Florida, then moved to the Southwest part of the state to attend the University of South Florida in Tampa. I moved back to Orlando in 2007 and then moved up to the Metro Detroit area with Scott in October 2012!
I – In Love With: Scott and all three of our fur babies. They make me laugh every single day.
(All hail the Queen!)
J – Jealous Of: anyone experiencing bathing suit weather today. I mean… it’s currently 61 degrees here… in August. C’mon Michigan.
K – Kindest Person You Know: all of the women in my family. They drop anything to help anyone!
L – Longest Relationship: New Years Day will be Scott and I’s 8 year date-iversary! Crazy.
M – Middle Name: Betty, after my Nana. I miss her so much. <3
N – Number of Siblings: I have a half-brother, Clay, and half-sister, Trish, both of which I consider to be fully related to. We all grew up in the same household and I tormented them with Barbies and temper tantrums throughout my entire childhood!
(Hahaha, this throwback is amazing, and the sour face on me is pretty accurate! I was a bit of a grouch as a child, so I’m told.)
O – One Wish: a glimpse into our lives six months from now. It could easily be completely different. That’s exciting and terrifying all at once!
P – Person you Spoke To On The Phone Last: my friend Ashley in Florida. (Miss you!)
Q – Question You’re Always Asked: “Do you miss dancing?” or “Would you ever dance for the NBA again?” My answer: Not likely. I’ve grown to appreciate my years on the court for what they were and am happy being in a completely different world now.
R – Reason To Smile: tomorrow is Friday!
S – Song You Last Sang: probably something by Gavin DeGraw with Scott. We have a slight obsession and may or may not have karaoke parties in the car.
T – Time You Woke Up: 7:45 a.m., even though I set my alarm for 6:30. It happens.
U – Underwear Color: teal… watch out now.
V – Vacation Destination: Costa Rica! Scott and I went for our honeymoon and we talk about revisiting all the time.
We’d also love to visit Greece or Hawaii. I went to Greece in high school as a family friend tagalong, and I would LOVE to go back with Scott someday. Also, Hawaii needs to happen sometime down the road. A trip to both are on the bucket list!
W – Worst Habit: trying to fit too much in at the last minute, which notoriously makes me late. Especially if I know I will be gone for a long period of time, I try to do a million things before I leave… fold laundry, empty the dishwasher, make the bed, basically anything I want to do that could probably wait until later.
And then I’m in a rush to get wherever in time. It’s a ridiculous struggle.
X – X-Rays You’ve Had: several on my teeth at the dentist, but haven’t had X-rays on my body. (Thirty years old and no broken bones – knock on wood – can you believe it?)
Y – Your Favorite Food: anything Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, or ice cream. Oh, and pumpkin. Basically, food is my life.
Z – Zodiac Sign: Taurus. Growing up in our household filled with three Taurus women sure was interesting! I give my dad and brother major props for that one.
Questions of the Day
I would love to get to know some things about you, too!
Answer one or more of the following:
What is your biggest fear?
What is your grossest memory? (I don’t know why I want to hear these, ha!)

Julia
My favorite food is sushi! I could eat it everyday! I love your pic with your family.. Such a cute face and fancy dress 🙂

Sushi, yum! I haven’t had it in what seems like forever. Thanks for the reminder 🙂
Whitney
What a fun survey post! Here’s my answers:
What is your biggest fear? My two biggest irrational fears are 1. jellyfish and 2. accidentally burning down my apartment. I’ve heard so many bad stories I am terrified I will leave my curling iron or stove burner on!
What is your grossest memory? (I don’t know why I want to hear these, ha!) I had some really gross complications as a side effect to a recent surgery. I will save you the bloody details, but it was gross!
What is your favorite vacation destination? Anywhere there is a beautiful beach!
What is your favorite food? I could eat roasted potatoes every day… and probably do eat them more often than I should!

Oh man, jellyfish are a fear of mine too. I rarely go in the water these days. I also have to check my straightener like 10 times before I leave, lol. Potatoes, yum!
Jamie
Love this survey! I did it a while back and thought it was so fun!! And I’m with you on reason to smile.. TGIF! Favorite food = homemade pizza 🙂

I haven’t made homemade pizza in ages, that needs to change soon!
Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy
I’m from Orlando too! Grew up “near” Longwood… aka Apopka. haha
I would love to go to Tahiti! I want to have tropical drinks chilling in my overwater bungalow.

Oh hey neighbor! Tahiti sounds amazing. Or any tropical place for that matter!
Julie
Is the first Costa Rica photo from Manuel Antonio? My boyfriend and I just went to Costa Rica for our 2 year anniversary and LOVED it! And Manuel Antonio was our favorite stop 🙂
Heather
It’s actually in Guanacaste, which is on the west side. There’s so many great places to go zip lining there!
Liz Joiner
Love these surverys you learn so much about a person 🙂 I hate snakes so much I can’t even watch videos of them let alone be near one.
Love that pic of Scott and your furbabies. Too precious. I think it’s amazing that you danced for the NBA, you’re so down to earth and friendly/

Haha, that song is legit 😉
Favorite food?….can’t…but top 3 are apples, cashews, and japanese sweet potatoes!

Grossest memory which also turned into a fear…that would be when I was a kid and went on a walk on the bike trail behind my house with my family and they just cut down the crops and I was covered head to toe in crickets and grasshoppers and the sound of them crunching when they were stepped on still mortifies me to this day that I avoid stepping on them at all costs. I will seriously walk around the grasshopper or cricket rather than step on it.
On a lighter note I would LOVE to vacation in Hawaii! I frequently day dream about Hawaii when I’m dealing with Minnesota winter.
renaissancerunnergirl
Vacation destination – keep it simple Down East in Maine or down the Cape (even though I’ve been places from Australia to Russia to Italy, I find the simpler times the best).
Favorite food – ice cream or strawberries (or strawberry ice cream!)

I love a good survey! 🙂
What is your biggest fear? well I REALLY hate needles, but I also think it would be losing my fiancee (with all the current news it really makes you think about how short life is!)
What is your grossest memory? (I don’t know why I want to hear these, ha!) hmmmmmm I feel like when my dog was a puppy and he just puked all over my fiancee’s lap on the couch it was digusting and a pain to clean up!
What is your favorite vacation destination? I love anywhere that’s a beach! I also went to Vegas recently and it was AWESOME as a couple’s trip which I would NEVER have guessed 😀
What is your favorite food? MASHED POTATOES, iceceam, steak…. caramels with chocolate… YUM
Alexandra @ My Urban Family
I love survey posts like this! And my favorite food is cookie dough – but I know I shouldn’t eat it raw. Still, I sneak in a little every once in awhile for a treat 🙂

There’s just something extra great about eating it straight from the container. 😉
Beth @ Running with the Sunrise
Yes, it’s all about the pumpkin things! So excited for all of the pumpkin foods to come into season. My biggest fear: bees, wasps, yellow jackets…anything with a stinger. My grossest memory (I’m sorry if this is too gross!) is probably from when my husband first got his (now our) dog Chloe. She had wandered onto a farm with her brother and was probably born in the wild, so she had worms when we got her. A few days after he got her we were in the car going camping and a worm crawled out of her and onto my leg. I freaked out. So glad we were able to get her fully wormed soon after that. Yuck!

Heather
ALL the pumpkin things! Really though. I don’t think I’ve come across one pumpkin flavored thing I haven’t loved. Poor Chloe! That sounds awful. If it makes you feel better, Roadie had heart worms when we got him as well as hookworm. So I feel ya!
Allison K.
My grossest memory is from just a few months ago. I was in Philly for a conference and went out for a quick 4 mile run. I ended up tripping over a board in a street in a construction zone and cutting my knee pretty badly. I didn’t realize how bad it was, but noticed people staring at me as I was running. By the time I got back to my hotel, I had blood running down my leg, stained my sock, and a pretty intense cut on my knee. It’s still healing; I have a feeling I’ll have a pretty decent scar.
If you ever make it to Hawaii, I’d love to give you some tips. I used to live there and know lots of “local” stuff to do! 🙂

Oh know, runner scrapes and bruises are real! And you lived in Hawaii?? How cool is that!?

Love this! And you were a cute little girl!! 🙂
Biggest Fear–death. Just thinking about it drives me insane and anxious.
Favorite Food–Chocolate fudgey brownies and Peanut Butter cups
Grossest memory–can’t really think of one so I”ll do underwear–grey–yes I’m boring–although I have a pair of grey with little umbrellas that I love that I got from the Gap!
Fave Vacation Destination–Santa Barbara–OMG–I went there for a wedding many years ago and it was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. I’ve always wanted to visit Hawaii; Costa Rica; or anywhere on the Caribbean.
Heather
Hahaha, thank you. I was a real peach. 😉 Brownies are always a great idea! I’ve never been to Santa Barbara, it sounds amazing!
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape
I am always running late – it’s my worst habit. But I always have the intention of being on time, my heart is there! Ha!
Favourite food is dates for sure!
And my favourite vacation destination is Oman – the Middle East is beautiful! Then again I have just moved to Australia so I feel like I a living a holiday right now!

I’ve never been a huge fan of dates. Maybe I need to try them again! I’ve never been anywhere in the Middle East. I’d love to visit someday!
Stacy Walling @ Puzzle Pieces and Potatoes
First, I love this survey! Thanks for sharing 🙂 I am also the youngest, and I have two-half brothers. We joke that we are half siblings, but we WHOLE love each other. We also grew up in the same household. My oldest brother is cuban, and looks nothing like my other brother and me, and my dad is 6’7″ so I was always tall and lanky and I am taller than them both now. LOL. Anyway, moving on…
HAWAII is a MUST! For sure go to Oahu to experience Pearl Harbor, Wakiki, and North Shore….but be sure to do Maui, as well. Beautfiul! The Road to Hana has so many waterfalls, but you have to hunt for some. So great! Aruba is spectacular. So is Cayman Islands, Honduras, Belize, Cozumel, parts of Jamaica, etc. I could go on and on. (invest in a flights/points card or rewards system. So worth it. We have southwest and will be getting a compaion pass next year, meaning fights are BOGO. We worked the systme to earn it, and it will be so worth it!)
I will eat just about ANYTHING. Except olives and anchovies. Yuk. 😉
Stacy Walling @ Puzzle Pieces and Potatoes recently posted…Anniversary and then some!
Heather
Oh man, olives are one of my favorites! I could literally eat a whole can by myself. It’s a problem… haha! Thanks for all of the Hawaii suggestions, hopefully I will be able to take you up on them one day 😉

I didn’t know you were a USF alumni! I’m a sophomore there now 🙂 Go Bulls! My favorite food is probably watermelon, I could eat an entire melon by myself haha.

This isn’t my biggest serious fear, but I think “animal-people” are really creepy. Body-of-a-man, Head-of-a-donkey type situations. Centaurs? No, Thank you.
