Greetings on this very rainy, not-so-much-of-a “great day for a run outside” kind of afternoon.
Dang. I was really hoping it would clear up by now for a good run to honor National Running Day!
Just in case you haven’t heard from all of social media, today runners coast-to-coast come together (mostly virtually) to declare and celebrate their love for the sport of running.
Last year I shared several reasons why I love to run, and thought I would take a different approach to my own personal badge this year.
(Get your own I Run… template here!)
Happy National Running Day to all of my runners (and walkers) out there!
Tim Hortons Camp Day
Every year, Tim Hortons donates one hundred percent of their coffee proceeds to their children’s foundation (THCF) for a day. The goal is to raise enough money to cover the cost of summer camp for kids who wouldn’t be able to attend otherwise.
Coffee donations provide the means for children ages 9-12 to attend a ten day summer camp or seven day winter camp session!
They deem the first Wednesday of June Camp Day and hired the Pistons to help kick off the huge fundraiser this year.
Last year, the company was able to raise $11.8 million! Of course HOOPER did everything he could to draw a crowd, but there’s nothing really new or surprising about that.
If you live anywhere near a Tim Hortons, grab a cup o’ joe for those kids!
If you’re not a coffee drinker, at least stop in and try one of these birthday cake timbits.
Yup. That happened. But in my defense, they were given to us on the house, so I did what any of you would do… enjoyed my obligatory two mini donuts and gave the rest of the box to friends. Yum!
Before heading home, a small group of us stopped by Noodles & Company for something other than sugar for lunch.
I was so, so hungry and wanted every single thing on the menu. I eventually decided on the Penne Rosa and added shrimp to it.
Spicy tomato cream sauce, penne pasta, mushrooms, tomato, spinach, shrimp, wine and Parmesan.
I usually go for a loaded salad and soup there, but today’s activities called for celebratory pasta. It was delicious and I enjoyed every little bite on the plate!
(If you’re looking for more health conscious menu items, check out this morning’s WIAW post.)
Currently, I’m back home and trying to talk myself into being productive. There’s a lot of studying to get to, and plans of a mid-week service at church to get to later tonight.
Here’s hoping I can squeeze in a run outside with Roadie before it starts raining again!
Question of the Afternoon
• Are you a runner? If so, why do YOU run?
