I have been slowly introducing myself into the world of “CrossFit” lately. I quote it because I still have yet to visit an actual CrossFit gym (or box), but have enjoyed incorporating the no-weight-required movements into my every day workouts.
Instead of the traditional Fitness Pilates/Boot Camp structure our team trainer usually has us do for our weekly workout with her, she included a CrossFit WOD instead, followed by a series of core exercises. I couldn’t believe how tired and sweaty I got (quickly!) and it inspired me to start creating my own at home.
Before our Media Day, I put together and completed the following workout.

Reebok CrossFit Nano Speed Review
What initially got me interested in this CrossFit craze is the latest variety in sneakers I have been privileged to try out, thanks to Reebok. I have mentioned before that I have an ongoing campaign with them, and was excited to see this snazy pair of sneakers arrive for September’s shipment.
As someone who has already tried the CrossFit Nano 2.0 and 3.0 sneakers, I have to admit that I was a little confused on why I (the dancer/runner) keeps receiving CrossFit sneakers. As soon as I tried the CrossFit Nano Speeds on, I realized they are a completely different animal.
While their previous sneakers in the CrossFit line have been built for stability and weight training, these have additional features made to incorporate running. The main difference I noticed is the flexibility in the sole.
I may be completely off here, but I would describe this one as the lovechild between my Nano 3.0’s and my ONE Series Cushion running shoes. They still have the same grips on the bottom for stability and a heel to toe drop structure, but also flexibility for various movements without the bulkiness of a normal running shoe. Pretty fancy!
My favorite kind of workouts always involve some kind of running for cardio, and I seem to gravitate towards any kind of cross-training workouts that include sprints, jumps, and lunges.
“There are plenty of running shoes that you can do CrossFit in, but we made the FIRST CrossFit shoe that you can run in.” Well said, Reebok.
While I did not set out for a straight running workout in them, I have worn them for HIIT, cross-training, around town running errands, and even to dance practices. While I wasn’t sure about them at first (to me, they run a tad on the large side), I grew to love them shortly after. As a fan of CrossFit shoes, I like these the best out of all of them for their versatility.

Questions of the Day
• Have you ever been to a CrossFit box or completed a WOD (Workout of the Day)?
• Does the thought of it intimidate you?
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
So, the thought of crossfit does intimidate me a bit. I’ve never tried it before, but I have thought about it. I do like the look of this workout though!
I love those sneakers! I’m in the market for a new pair and I think these might be it!
Heather
I really am loving them! So comfortable! And I’m with you. That’s why I’ve slowly introduced it into my workouts with these “baby step” CrossFit moves. 😉
Lisa
Oh this looks like a good one!
Yah, I definitely still feel a little out of the loop with all the crossfit talk, but I do love all the variety they incorporate in each workout.
Heather
Ditto! 😉
FitBritt@MyOwnBalance
I have been to gyms that are very similar to CrossFit but I’ve never been to a CrossFit box. I did try CrossFit at FitBloggin for the first time and I have to say that I was really puffed after the 4 minute workout and I was not so intimidated. However, the thought of lifting 100 lbs does make me shake in my sneakers!
Heather
Yes! That was my first “official” CrossFit workout too. Loved it! I’m with you… the heavy lifting does intimidate me.
Meggie @ My Grace-Full Life
I have always wanted to try a CrossFit workout but the cost coupled with the fact that none fo the “boxes” have childcare have kept me from it. Thanks for posting more info about it! I am excited to try your workout!
Heather
Aw, hope you get to try one soon!
Karen @ Runner Girl Eats
Haven’t been to a box but have done a few cross fit style workouts. I like the idea of it all but the culture seems a little (aka A LOT) intense and kind of turns me off.
Kimberly
Thanks for including the introduction to Crossfit links! I’ve been interested in trying it, but it seems like the people who are into it are REALLY into it, which can make it bit intimidating for a beginner.
Alisha @ Alisha's Appetite
I actually have not jumped on the crossfit train yet. I’ve never thought it looked worth it to couh up the money, but maybe I’ll take your tip and try a crossfit inspired workout at home and see if I like it first. I know the bootcamp class I’ve been taking is pretty similar to it, so I think that might be keeping me content for now, too 🙂
Erin @ The Almond Eater
I’ve never been to a CrossFit gym either but I am curious as to what one might be like. That cross fit workout you made up looks like a good one–definitely my type of workout. Thanks for posting!
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change
I actually started CrossFit this year and fell in LOVE with it. While WODs can be extremely challenging, I think they make me realize how amazing my body is! I’m so curious about these shoes; I hope to have my own pair in the future!

I LOVE CrossFit workouts that are heavy on the cardio. Thanks for posting it.
