Good morning! I spent a good amount of time reading through the Reader Survey results yesterday and have to say… you guys rock!
(It’s still open by the way. I figured it closed automatically, but that is not the case. Feel free to click over and give your input of what you would like to see more on the blog if you’d like and haven’t already done so!)
More on that another day, but one thing I wanted to mention is that a lot of you enjoy reading “Day in the Life” and personal types of posts.
I guess that’s a good thing, considering I have been doing a lot of personal posting lately. I swear that wasn’t planned. Such is life.
Anyways, I thought it would be a good time to post another DITL post. I’m in a random transition part of my life that I think would be interesting to look back on years or even months from now when I have a lot of different things going on.
Currently, I spend my days glued to the computer, running and workout out, attempting to get creative in the kitchen, entertaining the fur children, and exploring the eats and activities in the Metro Detroit area with Scott!
Thursday, October 16, 2014
2 a.m.: Scott gets in from Charlotte.
3 a.m.: We finally stop talking and go to bed.
7:30 a.m.: Alarm goes off. I press snooze.
7:45 a.m.: I wake up and check email on my phone. I also read the news via The Skimm. (<- so great.)
8:00 a.m.: Go downstairs and make breakfast for Scott and I.
8:15 a.m.: Drink coffee (barely) and eat oatmeal. Nothing picture-worthy. Share my morning blog post on social media.
(I already had it ready to go and automatically published. Score!)
8:30 a.m.: Go upstairs and get ready for the day.
Make the bed and straighten up a little. Clean up cat throw-up. Perfect.
(I swear our pets are prepping us for children.)
9:15 a.m.: Get dressed in this outfit and convince Scott to shoot photos of me outside for a campaign.
(He’s such a trooper, and I’m pretty sure my neighbors think I’m a whacko.)
9:45 a.m.: While I have my hair and makeup somewhat done, I might as well shoot a couple of other photos I’ve been wanting to share. #FFavorites
10:00 a.m.: Get dressed in the clothes I am actually going to wear for the day and take Roadie out for his morning walk.
(He sleeps as late as a teenager. I think it’s hilarious.)
10:20 a.m.: Heat up the rest of my coffee cup from the morning and grab a morning snack.
10:40 a.m.: Check blog comments, scroll through my Bloglovin’ feed and browse over other blogs for a while.
11 a.m.: Start on afternoon blog post.
1:15: Break for lunch. It’s this post that took forever to assemble.
1:30: Finish post and finally publish after proof reading 30 minutes later.
2:15 p.m.: Check email. Get some potential exciting news! I’ll be sure to share if it pans out!
This is the point in the day where I normally go for a run or complete a workout, but I decided to rest for my half marathon a couple of days later.
2:30 p.m.: Respond to a few important emails.
2:45 p.m.: This in front of me. Always.
3:00 p.m.: Take Roadie for a walk to the mailbox (surprisingly a quarter mile away) and back.
3:20 p.m.: Email train again. There’s a lot of conversations that happen on the back end to make opportunities on this little ‘ol blog of mine happen!
3:45 p.m.: Upload and edit photos from the morning and try not to laugh at my modeling skills. (That’s the real challenge.)
4:15 p.m.: Draft a sponsored post with photos and text.
4:30 p.m.: Break to grab a snack.
4:40 p.m.: Work on a photo project for another blogger.
(I’ll be sharing that with you soon too!)
6 p.m.: Finish and send over the finished project.
6:15 p.m.: Back to working on the sponsored post. (Believe it or not, these take more time than almost anything else I write about…)
6:40 p.m.: Scott gets home from work. We’re hungry. I was going to whip up something easy until a friend calls and asks what we’re doing for dinner.
7:30 p.m.: Dinner at The Meeting House in Rochester it is!
We meet Alex downtown and the two of us split a few menu items.
Tempura Cauliflower, Fall Vegetable Salad & Scallops Over Grits Special
Remember my infatuation with grits? Put them under any type of seasoned seafood and I’m a very happy girl!
The three of us also split an order of the Wood Roasted S’mores Brownies!
Yum.
9:30 p.m.: Get home from dinner. I’m wanting to drift off to sleep in a food coma. Instead, I shower and then get back to work on the computer in the living room.
9:50 p.m.: Time to put together Friday Favorites while watching Scandal with Scott, then Grey’s Anatomy on my own. #TGIT
(Just in case you haven’t picked up on it yet, we are both night owls.)
(Scott’s a serious 2 a.m. night owl-er almost every night. I really don’t know how he does it. I try to get in bed by midnight most nights, but I will occasionally stay up with him.)
Midnight: Finish Friday Favorites post, schedule it to go live at 6 a.m for all of you lovelies who link up!
(You didn’t really think I get up and write that early, did you?)
12:10 a.m.: Get back to writing and putting the final touches on my sponsored post due the next morning.
1:15 a.m.: DONE! Bed time.

As you can probably imagine, not every Thursday is exactly like this one. I have never had that kind of structure to my schedule. Ever. But then again, neither has Scott.
Our lives have always had a very fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants-and-see-where-it-takes-us type of pattern. After over three years of marriage, what he does and what I do really works for us.
How we spend our days and weeks is anything but traditional, and I guess that’s why I started documenting it through a blog. My family and friends like to keep up with our whereabouts and what we get ourselves into.
Just to throw this out there, I have also never complained about being “too busy”… not once. I feel very fortunate to be able to make a living at what I do, and I put a lot of hours into making it successful.
In fact, I rarely turn off. I have a job that I am extremely blessed to have stumbled into, and I am grateful to have a very supportive husband who wants nothing more than to see me succeed at my dreams.
If what I do wasn’t proving to be a beneficial way to spend my time, then I wouldn’t be doing it. I love blogging, (and I love you guys!) but I wouldn’t spend hours and hours on the computer every single day if it just wasn’t panning out.
Right now, blogging is my work. I am in the process of adding onto my daily work activities with job hunting. My goals include spending as much time in a gym or studio as I do on the computer, and my hopes are to find a balance in it all.
Thank you all for following my journey! I will continue to post DITL posts if you give me the benefit of the doubt in everything I stated above. Deal?
Deal.
(End rant.)

I love these kinds of posts! I find them so interesting. Thanks for sharing 🙂 I’m on maternity leave right now so my life is all about baby boy. I go back to work at the end of December and life will again be so different managing work and baby. I wish I had a job that I could be home with him…it’s going to be so tough. I’m brainstorming though and we’ll see where life goes!

Aw, baby Sage (and your two pups!) are so cute! Thanks for sharing the link. I find it very interesting to read over DITL posts, especially from new moms. Enjoy your time with the little one!

Busy busy lady! I’m typically in bed reading/reading blogs/etc. by like 8-9 every night. The latest I go to bed is around 10, but I have to get up in between 4-5 depending on if I want to work out or not!
Heather
Ha, this coming from a new mom of baby girls! I hope to transition into turning in earlier one day. Back in the days of teaching 6am barre classes I had the lights out by 11 at the latest! It’s definitely something I need to work on!
Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate
I love these type of posts and hope to do one soon! P.S. That S’mores dessert looks So good!
Heather
Oh my goodness… it was!!
Tricia @ A Couple of Dashes
I really like these kind of posts so thank you for sharing! Have you ever thought about doing posts on how you make a successful blog? I’m working on making my blog more successful now and always love to read tips from other bloggers who have been in my shoes before and have managed to get to where I want to be.
Heather
Thank you so much for reading! First, I have to say that I am still very much learning the business of blogging. I started a series on Blogging FAQs and hope to keep adding to it as time goes on. For now, check these out!

Wow, what a long day!! I would seriously knock out super early if I was up that late! I’m in the process of growing my blog. Hopefully a lot happens for me, for it in the next year. I’ve got big plans, so I’m really hoping they all work out!

I love reading DITL posts, probably cause I’m so nosy! 🙂 I did one last year: http://wp.me/p4FqJW-xv. I work full-time in college admission. I love it and it definitely keeps things interesting!
Kristine
Such a long day! I love reading your DITL posts! Random question, that off the shoulder top you’re wearing in the Be Kind picture, where is it from? It’s very cute!
Heather
Thanks! It’s an old throwback from Forever 21. 😉

Well my life is writing/blogging/gym, so I’m right there with you! I’ve done the full-time corporate job for many years, and believe it or not, sometimes having ONE big responsibility can be less than various smaller ones. Keep doing what you love! Oh and by the way, I’m jealous you have a backyard for photos and your husband home sometimes during the week. I wish!! Happy Thursday!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
Those marshmallow brownies!! <3 Yum!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
These posts are so fun to read! You are very right in that not having a conventional lifestyle allows each post to be a little different and unique. Thanks so much for sharing!

I love reading Day in the Life posts!! Thanks for sharing! It is amazing how long writing a simple blog post can take, esp. editing pictures! My work schedule is going to calm down soon and I’m excited to have more time for blogging and my days will probably begin to look more like yours 🙂

Ahhh my favourite style of blog posts!!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Yep, every day is different around here too. I kinda like it that way though. 😉 Love seeing the ins and outs of your days!!

Oh I am definitely in that post college, job transition. Right now working an on-call job with a part time job almost everyday is different for me. Which I love and I hate! The only thing consistent is Saturday and Sundays for me which turn out to be about the same and I love it! I can’t wait for the transition to end 🙂
Linda @ The Fitty
Ah, doesn’t your day look pretty relaxing? Eating, walking, snapping photos, and blogging.
courtalkek
I definitely understand the transition phase. We moved to Australia for my husband’s job four months ago. I went from working full time as a teacher to being a stay at home housewife. I feel like I’m in front of the computer so much of the day between blogging, working on products for my teachers pay teachers store or filling out paperwork so I can work soon. Keep doing what your doing, I love reading the blog!

Love these posts! Since I’m in (fairly) close by, I love seeing all the fun places you guys visit. – HELLO Whitney! I can’t wait to take my new hubby there.
I recently got married – 3 months ago – and also started a new job right after our honeymoon, so life has been full of transition and challenges. But it is also awesome and amazing and so, so, rewarding to be married to the love of my life and do a job that energizes and inspires me every day.
