I have never been one to stress out about what to do or get my significant other, family member, and friends for Valentine’s Day. Scott and I don’t really expect much from the other these days. I got him a card last year, and he bought me flowers and a card two weeks later. I used to get upset thinking I married somebody who doesn’t “believe” in Valentine’s Day, but I have completely gotten over it. Here’s why…

(gift wrapping from my first DIY present to Scott)
Instead of focusing on what to get that special someone for one specific day this year, I thought it would be fun to browse the amazing world of Pinterest to suggest a handful of handmade gifts you could easily put together as a surprise for any time of the year!
DIY Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas (All Year Long)
Here are my top six ideas (credited with the original creators) on how to celebrate relationships that bring you joy throughout the year.
• 52 Things I Love About You cards from Visual Heart
This can be a gift to anyone special in your life for Valentine’s Day, a birthday, an anniversary, or even a surprise just because!
Create your own version of cards, or download this template (it costs $1) formatted to fit the card text box perfectly.
I would personally love a gift like this. It would be a great thing to get out on those not-so-awesome days to make me smile!
• You are Golden Printable from The Crafted Sparrow This is a great thinking of you gift for a friend any time of the year.
I just love this easy to print tag and quick, thrifty gift idea!
• Seven Days of Love from The Dating Divas This surprise is perfect for your spouse or even a friend that might need a little pick-me-up.
This is also a great one to sneak into your special someone’s suitcase before a trip or even onto their night stand. Each night, they will open a sweet treat and read a message from you. Get their printable (<- so cute) for the text or make up your own!
• DIY date night cards from Pinterest I had trouble finding an exact source for this one, but I thought it was too adorable of an idea not to include.
Personalize a dozen date nights (or girls nights with your best friend/mother/sister) with a crafted card a month. Label them by month or draw one randomly as the year unfolds!
• Easy Dotted Sharpie Mug from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body
What a great way to show your appreciation and say thank you, anytime.
This is a DIY project anyone can do. It was originally created as a gift for Teacher Appreciation Day, but could really go towards anyone that helps you connect your dots on a day-to-day basis.
• homemade cookies
Cookies always make any day better if you ask me, especially if they are homemade. There are so many drool-worthy recipes to choose from!
Here are some of my favorites:
Pictured left to right, top to bottom:
» Chocolate Cherry Blossom Cookies from Baking Beauty
» Strawberry Cool Whip Cookies from Yummy, Healthy & Easy
» Soft Cut-Out Sugar Cookies from Sally’s Baking Addiction
» Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies from Sally’s Baking Addiction
» Soft M&M Chocolate Chip Cookies from Averie Cooks
And of course… what always goes good with homemade cookies? Milk. I am a huge fan of milk, almond milk, coconut milk and cashewmilk. Have you ever seen or tried Silk® Cashewmilk?
Silk® Cashewmilk is made with the special creaminess of real cashews and without saturated fat. I have been enjoying Silk®’s alternative milks for years in a tall glass before bed, over cereal, in my oatmeal, and even in my smoothies and recipes!
Irresistibly smooth, Silk® Cashewmilk is creamier than skim milk but with 25% fewer calories. You + Cashewmilk = True Love. To celebrate, Silk® will be giving away hundreds of The Perfect Match Gift Sets for you and a friend at PerfectMatch.Silk.com.

I love all these ideas! Very cute!
Great ideas! Love those date night cards. They are very unique.
I love the monthly date cards! I love Silk’s almond milk, but I didn’t know they made cashew milk. Now I’m curious about what it tastes like!
It’s brand new! I like it – it’s very creamy. Tastes like a treat 🙂
WOW, love these ideas!! Thanks for sharing they are fantastic!
Now I just need the motivation and time to make all of them 😉 One day!
My soon to be hubby once made me homemade fortune cookies with little fortunes. It was simple and adorable.
What a cute idea! That is an awesome gift <3
My boyfriend gave me flowers last year and when I opened the box, they were dead on arrival! After that, we vowed not to do a “big” Valentines Day. Now we spend about $20 on each other and bake homemade pizzas and cake together.
Oh no!! Yeah I guess that would ruin it – especially if he paid a lot for them.A homemade pizza and cake date sounds perfect!
So cute! I like the pill box/treat idea. Can’t wait for Valentine’s Day candy to come my way!
Right? Candy is never a bad gift in my book 😉
These are so cute and will be great to have for Valentines day or any time of year. I am going to include it in my Saturday Link Love post 🙂 Thanks!
Aw, thanks so much for sharing Sara!
I love the nail polish for friends! So cute, useful, & calorie free 😉
Calorie free… 😉
All of these ideas are SO creative. Maybe I’ll try to get crafty and make my boyfriend something this year!
I really need to craft more. I miss it!
Such cute ideas! I love the date night cards…I made them for my hubby one year and he freaking lost them, lol…boys! We are pretty low key valentines day celebrators, will probably have dinner at home and watch a rom-com 🙂
Oh no!! Haha typical guy move 😉
My fiance and I never really go all out for Valentine’s Day either. I agree, you should just show each other love every single day! But, it is nice to have an extra special day to do something…well…extra special for your loved ones. My mother STILL to this day even gets me a Valentine’s gift every year. And I have started to do it with her as well–this year I hope to surprise her with a necklace and making her a pancake ‘n’ berries breakfast.
Aw, that is so sweet! It’s always fun to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your family too!
Oh my thanks for the ideas! I love the 7 day thing with the pill case! This is our first Valentine’s Day, so its required by me to celebrate lol 😉
Of course! Enjoy your day!!
