Good…wait… it’s not the morning? Oh. Well then, Good Late Afternoon!
Today was one of those days I woke up feeling like it was Saturday. Both Scott and I’s schedules have been crazy lately and our weekends have come and gone without much time to rest, re-group, and take a breather.
Today started day one of a three day break, and you better believe I took full advantage of it!
One thing I have not gotten used to living up north is waking up to the sight of a true winter outside my window. Bare trees and snow on the ground seems like something that belongs on a postcard rather than my backyard. Today I took a little extra time to relax and enjoy it.
I let myself sleep past my alarm and woke up at 9 a.m., which is just enough time to be productive in the morning… if I choose to be.
A long sleeve t-shirt, sweatpants and these house slippers stayed on as my outfit the entire day, and I am not afraid to say it. Ain’t no shame in my game!
I had a hearty breakfast of healthy oatmeal and egg pancakes, then spent the remainder of the day doing what I wish I could do every weekend: catch up on laundry, clean and tighten up the house, and lounge around with this guy.
Looks like someone else was not shy about taking a lazy day! Every room I went into, there he was following shortly behind. He entered, looked at me, then laid down and curled into a small ball. It’s almost like he wanted to disappear! Oh, the things this dog does.
Dang, that stuff is addicting!
As you can probably imagine, I became pretty full after devouring half of the box and just now finished lunch with a side garden salad.
I had asked Scott to use whatever leftover vegetables we had in the refrigerator to make a salad last night, and ended up having enough to save for later.
I plan to spend the rest of the day at the gym, then back on the couch to relax with a glass of wine, the husband, and our furry children tonight. They seem to have this lazy day thing down pat!
And that, my friends, is what I call my kinda Thursday.
After debating about it, I decided to share my un-eventful day with you to see how many of you take advantage of having day off.
Questions of the Day
• Do you ever really have days off – where you have zero plans and no commitments? What do you do?
• What is your take on “lazy” days? Do you look forward to them or think they are a complete waste of time?
I like to have a mix of things to do on my days off. Some days – like this past Monday holiday – I like to book my day with appointments and errands I want to get out of the way to feel super productive. Other days, I have no motivation to partake in any plans at all. I love those days. I need those days. More than one in a row would make me stir crazy, but I appreciate a lazy day off now and then to re-charge my batteries!
