I finally wore a new piece of my wardrobe out to dinner a few weeks ago. As you probably know from last month’s Fashion on a Budget post, my flexibility to purchase clothing has become pretty… well… tight.
I am not here to write about what I can’t buy, but instead share what I already have and highlight some great “on the list to buy” pieces. I own enough to get by, but the majority of what I want to write about is stuck in cyberspace – or online, ie: I am window shopping surfing.
Modcloth Dress
If I had my way, I would order one (or even two) of everything from Modcloth.com. Modcloth is a cute, retro and very vintage type of online clothing and accessories company. From hair accessories and tights to dresses and handbags, I adore just about every single item available.
Since I haven’t been able to actually purchase, I have been window surfing like a mad-woman and keep ideas of what I would potentially like to buy. Recently, I my kept idea turned into this Keep in Touch Dress.
It felt classy and comfortable.
This type of dress is simple enough that you could pair it with a variety of options. For shoes, I kept it easy by wearing a pair of nude sling backs.
“Go With Anything” Nude Pumps
A staple in any wardrobe is a pair or two of nude pumps. A classic peep toe or slingback seems to go with anything. You can wear them with jeans, dress shorts, skirts or even to work with a pant suit. I own two pairs, but would love to add more into my closet with a wedge or bootie.
What I am wearing above are the #4 Aldo nude sling backs (which are pictured below). I got them at an Aldo Outlet over a year ago, and I paired a few examples of similar styles that I would also love to own.
I love all three of those brands, and you can often find them on sale through Macy’s, DSW Warehouse, Marshalls and other outlet or discount stores.
Wish List Accessories
In the photo I am wearing a few simple gold bracelet bangles from Urban Outfitters. That worked, but I would have really liked to accessorize with a few items from my Stella & Dot wishlist found here and here.
*Sigh. I just love arm parties.
There are a few possibilities and openings coming to the surface for Scott and I in the near future, and I am excited to see where we end up. Until we figure it out and actually make a move – literally and figuratively – my fashion posts will probably be kept to a meer one or two a month.
I am enjoying the challenge though… 😉
Question of the Day
Do you window shop (or surf) and keep ideas for future purchases?
I do and I don’t. When I bookmark trendy pieces, I often get past the urge to purchase them once I can and move on to something else.
For more classic, “go with anything” type of pieces, I keep the idea in the back of my mind in hopes of crossing them off at the perfect (usually sale) opportunity.
Have a great weekend!

That dress is totally adorable! I love it. I’ve never shopped at ModCloth before, but I think I need to get on that.I also love those Steve Madden pumps, and the Jessica Simpson and Aldo ones actually haha. I just love my high heeled shoes.

Me too! I would have a pump in every color if I had the funds and the closet space! And… I think you would love Modcloth 🙂
