Hi there! It’s Friday, and a big goal of mine for the year is to stay consistent with a new edition of Friday Favorites on a weekly basis. You heard it! Now I’m going to do my best to stick to it. And please know that I love and appreciate each and every one of you who have stuck around throughout the years. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do if it wasn’t for you!
All right. Now it’s time to dive into what we’ve been up to lately with a fresh batch of faves. Today we’re chatting about eats, cleaner beauty with a new makeup haul (and Beautycounter promotion), workouts, and more.
Cheers to the (almost) weekend!
LATEST FRIDAY FAVORITES
- Camperdown Elm (South Slope, Brooklyn)
Scott and I are always looking for somewhere new to dine out in our area. While we live in Park Slope, South Slope is right next door with a quick 5-10 minute walk and has just as many cute restaurants and shops to explore.
We recently walked into Camperdown Elm a few Sundays ago, as we were winding down the weekend and looking for a place to toast to Scott’s new job with the NBA. (It’s a contract position, but he’s managing entertainment for the NBA All-Star game coming up in February – we’re pumped!)
The inside atmosphere was nothing like I expected from a quick glance of the outside. For whatever reason, I expected higher-end table settings, and we walked into a cozy, neighborhood setting with a stacked bar as a focus. It’s trendy and has a very limited menu!

The $1 oysters drew us in, and we came to find out that the deal is only valid if you sit at the bar. Just a heads up there. They were out of a few menu items, which was frustrating on a small, limited menu, but the explanation made sense when we nicely asked about why that is. The chef likes to use local produce and items that are in season around town, and the entire menu changes every few weeks. Once they start running out of something, and then something else, they change the whole menu to keep it fresh and new.
This really intrigued us and we left wanting to come back and try another meal soon. It’s great spot for NYC locals!
- bombas socks for the whole family
(This portion isn’t sponsored, and just showcases my love for the product and brand.)
Those who have been reading for a while might remember me mentioning Bombas socks and how they’ve become my number one sock brand for anything from athletic to cozy and lounging. (This portion isn’t sponsored, and just showcases my love for the product and brand.)

Santa brought our whole family a variety of sets from no-show and ankle socks to tall socks with grippies, and even a variety of short and tall socks for Skyler. They have some adorable family sock options, which are perfect for gifting, too.
I just wanted to give a shout out, since they’re what we’ve been wearing all day, every day since Christmas and I can’t get enough.
- toddler cups, plates, and bowls
Skyler recently received presents in the form of catch bowls, plates, and sippy cups from Boon. We’ve purchased several Boon products in the past including the Cogs Water Gears Bath Toy Set (I always get questions on what these are!), Dishwater Basket Clutch (amazing for washing infant bottles and small parts), Snug Silicone Sippy Lids, and more.
I was just telling Scott that the only part that I don’t like about our Toogel Hook-On High Chair is the space that it leaves between the table and our messy-eating toddler. So much food gets dropped there and goes right to the floor, or to our eagerly waiting dog hovering under him. I’m pretty sure this is exactly why the Spill Catcher Bowls and Plates were made. They’re perfect!

As for the Snug Straw with Cups, Skyler is still in the phase of wanting to take the tops off of things, so we’re not quite ready to use them all the time. He’s able to drink out of them with our assistance, and the straws are awesome to stick into things like smoothies, baby yogurt cups, and more.
I’m looking forward to him becoming a little more independent in his drinking, as he’s gotten the eating down pretty great. Thank you, Boon, for sending this care package over! (You can check out their line of products on Amazon.)
- latest workouts
Here’s a peek into some of the workouts I’ve been doing at the gym lately. I want to point out that I’m not on a specific training program at the moment, but that I plan to get on one once I have a little more time at home in February. I enjoy creating templates for myself and others and have more on that front coming soon for you. Stay tuned!
For now, here’s the latest workout shares, just in case you missed them on my Instagram stories.

You can always reference more in the “Fitness” highlights on my Instagram page.
- Beautycounter makeup haul
My first big Beautycounter makeup haul has been a long time coming! Like some of you, I got a little overwhelmed at where to start in my journey to slowly switching over to safer skincare and cleaner makeup. I started with a skincare overhaul and have been testing everything else out at the retail store. (I love that it’s only a quick subway ride away in Soho, Manhattan!)
Thanks to an online event I hosted towards the end of 2019, I scored three free products, three products at half price, and added three additional products with my normal 25% off discount for a grand total of $130! Talk about value, right?
I’m sharing this with you because it was easy to earn rewards for my efforts in spreading the importance of safer products, and I’m always looking for people to host online events with me and earn credits of your own! I would also love to share more about the business opportunity, which is so fun and rewarding. If you’re interested in chatting further, please send me an email at beautycounter@lifeinleggings.com.

Anyways, back to the makeup! I’m so, so excited to finally fill my makeup bag with high-quality products that look great and feel good for me to use.
Here’s what’s in my starter kit:
- Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation in Linen (coverage for nights out)
- Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer in No. 2 (lighter coverage with SPF)
- Touchup Concealer Pen in Light (my first Beautycounter purchase in 2015!)
- Mattifying Powder (sets makeup and reduces shine)
- Precision Liquid Eyeliner (great for anything from thin lines to dramatic wings)
- Volumizing Mascara (there’s also a Lengthening Mascara)
- Color Pinch Liquid Blusher in Hibiscus (so unique and you can use it on your lips and eyelids, too)
- Beautycounter Red Color Intense Lipstick (perfect for nights out!)
I also received the Nourishing Cream Cleanser as a free product in my Host Rewards, and it will be a nice wash to have in my gym bag.
I have a great start here, and if you’re in a boat of wondering where you should start, there’s currently a promotion going on with the Flawless in Five starter kit! I totally would have gone that route if I didn’t have the rewards to use (as they’re not eligible on kits, collections, or regimens).
I recommend the Flawless in Five to most, as it includes products that take five minutes or less to apply every day and is really all you need! Of course, you can add on to it by going for an eyeshadow palette, eyeliner, and more.

The Flawless in Five includes six safer, high-performing products:
- Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation or Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer
- Touchup Skin Concealer Pen
- Color Define Brow Pencil or Brilliant Brow Gel
- Lengthening or Volumizing Mascara
- Satin Powder Blush
- Lip Gloss
Right now until Monday, January 27th, you can get a FREE retractible foundation brush ($35 value) with your order, too. I wish I had one — using the brush makes it easier to apply foundation and helps you to use less at a time, making the product last longer!
Please reach out with any questions you man have, any and all things having to do with Beautycounter and/or #betterbeauty in general. You can always comment on or message me about anything I share on Instagram stories, and subscribe to the LIL newsletter to stay in the loop with all of the inside info, too!

» Setting SMART Goals And How To Achieve Them
Let’s talk about goals and if they’re SMART. While the analogy is popularly linked to the fitness world (I learned all about the concept while studying for my CPT through NASM), I believe that SMART goals apply to almost anything at all. Once we’re clear with our intentions, the end goal is a lot easier to hit! Here’s a break down followed by a few examples that will set you up for success.

Thank you for reading through the latest and I hope you are able to enjoy the weekend ahead.
Here’s to a great one!
