Good morning! Who’s pumped for Friday?
I am looking forward to the weekend, as most of it will be spent outside. My parents are in town, and Scott and I have been enjoying some quality time with them in our adventures around the City!
Just like every Friday, today I am taking a look back at the week and highlighting what made me smile. I hope you’ll play along in the comment section, too.
I just realized that this post marks 150 weeks of sharing faves. Whoa! Thank you to everyone who clicks over to read and share week after week. Friday Favorites is definitely my favorite series to keep up with!
What have you been loving this week? Bloggers, don’t forget to link up your own #FFavorites posts at the bottom.
Psst! There may or may not be a sneaky giveaway today, too …
Friday Favorites #150: Week of 7/15
• Bath & Body Works summer scents
I’m usually only a sucker for seasonal scents in the fall and winter, but I guess that has changed. Thanks to an email from Bath & Body Works that let me in on the summer sale currently going on, I decided to refill our wallflower scents and candles online.
(I have a slight addiction to candles, but it’s getting better. We currently only have five in our apartment, including extras for when the ones out burn down!) *pats self on back*
I took a chance by ordering new-to-me scents that I wasn’t sure I’d like, but I was pleasantly surprised! The Lilac Blossom (<- the 3-wick is $10 right now) is the perfect amount of floral, and the Beautiful Day (<- no longer on sale?) reminds me of everything on the label: blue skies, flowers, and green apples. Summer is officially here, y’all!
• Serial podcast
Okay, I’ll admit it. I just got into listening to podcasts. I don’t know why it took me so long! Now that I take trains and subways that limit my service during daily commutes, I always bring my earbuds and listen to either music or a podcast.
Have you ever heard of Serial? Our friends told Scott and I about the series, and we are absolutely hooked!
Serial tells a true story of a murder case that took place in Baltimore, Maryland circa 1999. You can download and stream episodes for free and listen to them on online, on iTunes, and even on Pandora. There are two seasons so far (told through episodes week by week, so it’s important to listen to them in order), but the story is far from over.
Both Scott and I are already on the second season, and we talk about the characters and story all the time. It’s so interesting! I can only hope that Season 3 comes out sooner than later!
• family in NYC
The biggest highlight for me this week is having my parents in town for a visit! They chose to encompass the full culture of New York City by staying in Times Square, and I have been keeping busing training back and forth to see them every day.
Scott was off from work on Tuesday, and we had a great time showing them around while doing some exploring of our own, too. My favorite outing so far was walking the Brooklyn Bridge and watching the sun set over the Manhattan Skyline.
It’s crazy to think that we’ve only been here for three months, yet Brooklyn already feels like home.
It’s been neat having visitors already, and I’m so grateful for the time that we have had with my parents. They are in New York until Monday morning, so I’m sure I will have plenty more to share after the weekend!
• grilled chicken salads (with mini-quesadillas)
I’ve been all about grilled chicken or shrimp over salads this summer!
About once a week, I’ll prepare a big monster salad that will last us for a few days, and the latest included all of this goodness …
Spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, red, yellow and green peppers, black olives, avocado, grilled chicken, and ground black pepper drizzled in a balsamic vinaigrette
While browsing around the market for our weekly staples, I got the idea to pick up a bag of corn tortillas and make mini-quesadillas on the side of our salads for dinner that night.
They couldn’t be easier. Simply add a layer of shredded cheese and salsa (if you want it!) to the middle of two tortillas, heat on the stovetop (med-high) until the cheese is melted, and make sure to flip it halfway through.
It was the perfect addition to the salad that filled me up!
• Tervis tumbler giveaway
Longtime LIL readers are well aware of my love for Tervis tumblers. I have featured them many times in variety of different styles and designs, and we have acquired quite the collection of them, thanks to our friend who works at the corporate offices. (Hi, Rusty!)
Today I am excited to share some of the tumbler love and offer two 16 or 24 oz. tumblers of your choice as a giveaway! They might just be the best plastic cups, water bottles, mugs, and to-go insulated beverage containers for those on-the-go.
I love the clear, colorful, and monogramed designs, and I’ve also been digging the brands lately.
The summer, however, makes gravitate towards their seamless wine glasses …
Maybe you’re ready to gear up for the fall and stock up for college football season?
This giveaway allows you to pick any two tumblers you want – (2) 16 oz., (2) 24 oz., or one of each!
(Aztec Pattern // Arrows Wrap // Anchors & Scallop Pattern)
To enter, simply leave a comment on this post and enter one additional entry into Rafflecopter.
You have until Midnight Monday, July 18th E.S.T to enter the giveaway. The winner will be randomly selected via Rafflecopter and announced on the blog next week.
Good luck, and thank you, Tervis!

Angela @ Happy Fit Mama
I’m laughing over the funny of watching Jaws while in the water. I’m going to something like that in a couple of weeks although I WON’T be in the water, just on the beach watching it on the big screen. I would freak out sitting in the water! Lol!

Those salads look AWESOME. And Serial is the best thing ever for a long car ride. But it’s so intense! Sometimes it distracts me from the road… which is why I’m usually not allowed to drive, hah!
Happy Friday!

I’m loving the Aztec pattern! And I started to get into the Serial podcast myself.. but I need to be 100% committed to paying attention while I listen cause my mind tends to wander & then I didn’t hear what just happened! That’s definitely something that needs full attention.
Heather
I’ve definitely had to rewind or re-listen to an episode when my mind wandered on the train. There’s so many important details in every episode!

Serial is the podcast that made me fall in love with podcasts. I really enjoyed the first season, but was disappointed with the second one. It just didn’t pull me in like the first season did. I now listen to a ton of different podcasts now. I love them for my commutes to and from school!

First of all, I’m still in tears laughing from your last Friday Funny. So sorry if this doesn’t make any sense.
When I saw your first Friday Favorite, I realized that I haven’t been to a Bath & Body Works in a dog’s age! I’ll definitely have to check those new scents out. We pretty much have a séance every night with the amount of candles I light, so I’ll be in the market shortly.
Thanks for sharing – & have a great weekend!
