Any fun plans on deck?

Here we go!
Friday Favorites #153: Week of 8/5
• rainbow daisies
First and foremost, thank you to those who reached out and sent their love over this week. I didn’t share this on the blog, but Wednesday was our “should-have-been” due date. It’s something that I had been dreading for months, and I’m planning to share my thoughts as well as a few updates on the family front very soon.
Anyways, thank you. So much.
Our dear friend Katlyn surprised us with this beautiful bouquet of flowers on Wednesday, and it really made me smile. <3
Since the flowers were dyed, the leave wilted easily, and I made a complete mess when I trimmed the bottoms of the stems. But, they are so bright and cheery … it’s definitely worth the tie-dye remnants on my fingers. The dye also tints the water! This picture was taken just a minute or two after I changed it. So cute.
Thank you for the beautiful flowers, Katlyn!
• Fusion Latino
Scott had Wednesday off, so we decided to make plans and have something to look forward to in the afternoon. We kept a lookout for a new restaurant to try for linner (lunch/dinner) on our walk over to the movie theater, and we stumbled upon Fusion Latino on Prospect Avenue.
The restaurant serves Latin American food and offers great drink specials every day. We ordered a round of $5 sangrias (not too sweet, lots of fruit!) and started with Chicken Tostones Rellenos to share.
They were very tasty and came out pretty quickly. Our entreés, however, took forever to arrive. We were super bummed at how slow the service was because we really enjoyed the environment. I ordered the vegetable skewers and Scott chose the chicken empanadas.
The food was good, but again, how long we had to wait for it affected our experience. I’d go back, but probably just to sit at the bar and order appetizers and drinks next time. We ended up asking for our bill before finishing our meals and left in a hurry to try and catch a late-afternoon movie.
We saw The Secret Life Of Pets and it was adorable! I laughed a lot and both Scott and I thought it was great.
• Lumineers Concert at Prospect Park
We walked by the park on our way home from the movie to see everything set up for The Lumineers to perform outside later on! One really neat thing about summer nights in our area is the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! concert series at Prospect Park.
Lots of people purchase tickets to shows (this one was sold out), and I probably would if it was a band that we really wanted to see, but you can always camp outside of the venue on the lawn and listen to the artists play for free. Why not, right?
The Lumineers came on right before 9 p.m., so we walked over right beforehand with a blanket and Roadie.
(LIL on Snapchat)
It was Roadie’s first official concert! He did so well. There were several dogs and couples around us, too. The weather was perfect for a night under the stars and live music. We’ll definitely be back again.
• Organic Aussie Bites
Have you ever seen Aussie Bites? If you have a Costco membership, you might have passed by them and wondered if they are worth the purchase. Um, the answer to that would be YES. They’re delicious and incredibly addicting!
A bite or two can tie you over between meals, and I have been loving them in the mornings with my coffee or when I need a little pick-me-up before a workout. Each cookie is 130 calories and ingredients include rolled oats, dried apricots, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, honey, coconut, quinoa, and chia seeds. They’re so good!
Costco sells them for a great price (under $10), but if you’re not a member you can also find them on Amazon (at a much higher price). Yum!
• clean sneakers
I am a big fan of washing sneakers, and I am very thankful that we have access to a washing machine in our apartment. (Trust me, it’s a rare luxury in NYC.) Not knowing if we would be close to one, I washed all of my athletic shoes before we moved four months ago (<- whoa!), but they get dirty pretty quickly around here.
Not only are the streets older and probably dirtier, but I walk a lot more than I ever have before. The bottoms get so dark!
I finally gathered enough pairs that I thought could use a wash the other day, so I ran a load on the delicate cycle with regular laundry detergent.
I make sure to keep the laces tied (to prevent getting tangled and torn) when I throw them in the machine, and let them air dry afterwards. It feels good to know that I can clean the city streets off of them from time to time! Do you ever wash your shoes?
• Starbucks Pink Drink
Okay, guys … I might be the last person to try the Pink Drink at Starbucks, but better late than never. Because YASSSSS. I’m pretty sure this is what little strawberry dreams are made of.
After browsing online to see what exactly makes it so magical, I found that it’s really just a spin on the Strawberry Acai Refresher made with almond milk instead of water. Good to know, because I would have sworn that I was drinking straight candy. I have a feeling that I’ll be ordering them a lot this summer!
Well played, Starbucks. Well played.

That concert looks really fun! I love sitting out on the grass listening to music.
That’s such a blessing that you have a washing machine, because that probably saves a lot of money especially in NYC.
And thank you for being vulnerable Heather. I really am thankful for how vulnerable you are about the ups and downs that you’ve gone through.
