Good morning! Happy Friday my friends!
I’m starting my day extra early with a poolside yoga session in the City. (Here’s hoping it’s an indoor pool, right?) It’s been pretty chilly this week, so I’m sure hoping so. Either way, I’m really looking forward to getting in an hour of om with my friend Ashley before work!
Before we dive into this week’s faves, I want to acknowledge how much I appreciate all of you. I know posts have been all over the place around here this year, and reading your comments on Wednesday’s post means so much. Thank you for sticking around while I figure out all of these crazy stages of life, and I can only hope that you’ll be here for what’s to come. Y’all are the best!
All right, let’s move on the good stuff. Every Friday, I like to take a look back at the week and share what I’ve been loving. I also host a link-up, so bloggers — scroll down and check it out! As always, I invite everyone to share the Friday Favorites love and discuss what you’ve been enjoying this week in the comments section.
Here’s to Fri-yay!
Friday Favorites #167: Week of 11/11
• Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick
Some of you might have noticed that I’ve become more daring in my choice of lip colors. I blame living in NYC and also the influence of my friends. My friend, Brittany, brought no less than fifteen lip shades with her on a recent visit, and I had a blast browsing through all of them and playing dress up on our nights out.
About a week after she left, I received a surprise package in the mail from her that included this in Some Nerve!
(also found ,, )
The purple shade might seem intense to some at first, but I’ve really been loving it. I usually wear it with dark colors and pair it with natural looking eye makeup. I use a little bit of blush, mascara, and maybe some eyeliner, but I generally leave my eyelids bare when going for a dramatic lip color. Thanks, Brittany!
• October Stitch Fix
I didn’t get to dedicate a full post to last month’s Stitch Fix delivery, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to showcase some of my favorite pieces from it here now. If you’re new to the concept of Stitch Fix (<- affiliate link), check out some of my previous posts for the details.
Overall, my fix cost more than I originally hoped, but I came out with a few quality pieces that I have already worn several times. In other words, worth it.
Loveappella Malbec Elbow Patch Knit Top ($58) // Lila Ryan Liza Skinny Jean ($98)
For starters, I did not expect to fall in love with a pair of jeans that I didn’t even pick out for myself for nearly $100. As soon as I put them on, however, I was sold. They’re so comfy and literally feel like a pair of thick leggings with the added bonus of pockets. I liked the distressed look that my stylist recommended to pair with comfy tees and ankle boots, too.
At first glance, I thought the elbow patch knit top wouldn’t fit well. It seemed short, but again, I put it on and fell for it. I wore the two together, and the outfit was perfect for a stroll through the park to Smorgasburg.
And, oh yeah, the elbow patches are adorable, no?
(You might recognize this and the from a previous #FFavorites)
I had some leftover credit stored up, so I decided to treat myself on one more item.
My choices were between …
41Hawthorn Delon Fringe Mixed Material Top ($64)
Market & Spruce Nina Asymmetrical Sweater Tunic ($68)
Marc New York Stellana Puffer Vest ($68)
I really loved the asymmetrical sweater tunic, I just didn’t want to pay $70 for it. I wasn’t a big fan of the fringe mixed material top because of the ruffled details, and I was on the fence about the puffer vest for several days. It’s really cute, but do I really need another puffer vest? Apparently, the answer is yes, because I kept it. I’m really digging the olive color!
Another Stitch Fix for the win!
• Zipcar
I’d heard of Zipcar before we moved to Brooklyn, but I never had a reason to use it until we got rid of our cars and needed one for the day last week. Zipcar is perfect for those who don’t own cars, but want one to borrow from time to time. Simply sign up for a membership (I have the occasional driving plan that costs $70/year), receive a zipcard key in the mail a few days later, and get access to unlock thousands of cars in cities around the world!
You can make reservations to book cars online or through a mobile app. The car you reserved will unlock with your key card at the time you book it, and you can extend your reservation by changing the time on your app. It’s really easy!
Zipcar also offers membership benefits. In New York City, you can get discounts (up to 50% off!) of services like food delivery services, salons, studios, rental cars, storage units, and hotels.
• Bergen Bagels
While we are nowhere short of finding great food in the area, one thing I can always count on stumbling upon in Brooklyn is delicious bagels, pizza slices, and cheesecakes. I have heard great things about Bergen Bagels, so I finally waited in a line that was practically out the door for a morning coffee and bagel last week.
I came in for a bagel, but they also had a great variety of freshly made salads, gourmet sides, and coldcuts. I will definitely be back to try more. I visited the location on Bergen St. and Flatbush Ave., and there are two more in Brooklyn. If you’re ever in the area, I can attest that standing in line is well worth it!

My puffer vest is so old, and yet it still looks new heheh! You can never have too many. And I know a lot of people who rely on ZipCar in SF too! Very convenient, but I’ve never used it. Enjoy your day and weekend, lady! 🙂

Totally gonna try that lipstick! I love wearing lip colors, but I hate having to reapply a ton. I’m all for anything that stays put. Happy Friday!

Heather,
I love your blog! Love all the posts…especially Friday Fav’s and WIAW! Also your great workouts and weekly workout posts. So fun reading about your NYC adventures…My husband has to go for business a lot, and I have only been able to tag along a few times. It gives me some great ideas for my next time to visit. I would love to get to live there even just for a few months just to see what it feels like to truly be the fabric of the city! Thx for sharing all your stories.
