Good morning and Happy Friday!
It’s been a busy week so far, and today is no exception. I’m opening early at the studio and then heading into Manhattan to meet a few friends that are in town visiting from Michigan! I’m heading back to Brooklyn tonight for a team outing, and then Scott and I have plans to see Detroit in theaters with friends tomorrow after work. There’s plenty of activity on deck, and I’m looking forward to it!
I have a lot of fun things to share in this week’s edition of Friday Favorites, so let’s get right to it. As always, feel free to comment below with something(s) you’ve been loving this week, and, of course, link up your favorites posts at the bottom!
Friday Favorites #179: Week of 8/18
• August POPSUGAR Must Have Box
Longtime LIL will recognize POPSUGAR appearing on the blog every so often. The August box is a extra special this month because POPSUGAR Must Have turns 5, as it’s Lisa Sugar’s (POPSUGAR Founder & Editor in Chief) 5th year creating her and her team of editors favorite items in the form of Must Have Boxes!
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s how it works:
- Pick a plan: for a subscription, packages start at $39.95 a month
- Unwrap your full-sized box of surprises each moth
- Enjoy your new discoveries!
You can always see what past boxes look like by visiting theirpage. All are valued well over $100 and include items I would personally love to try. Also, I think it’s pretty cool that Lisa Sugar hand-picks the items that go into each box. You’re essentially trying out her month of “Friday Favorites”.
While I don’t subscribe to the service, I do love the partnership I’ve acquired to receive boxes, and I really look forward to trying new products, snacks, and accessories when they arrive. (Who doesn’t love a fresh batch of surprises in the mail every month, right?)
POPSUGAR sent me a special birthday edition box of treats this month, and I’m excited to let y’all in on the goods.
The August 2016 Box included:
- PASTEL Cheers Lacquered Tray, suggested retail: $28

• 2017 TP Wedding Dress Contest
Some of you might remember a very unique event that I got the opportunity to be a part of last year called the Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest hosted by Cheap Chic Weddings.
Quilted Northern co-hosted this year, and over 1,500 contestants entered wedding dresses made out of toilet paper for a contest that takes place months before. The Top 10 Finalists are flown out to New York City each year to showcase their dresses down a runway where the judges name the winner in-person shortly after!
My sweet and talented friend, Susan, was one of the Top 10 finalists for the 13th Annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, and asked me to model her design for the judges. Um, twist my arm I guess.
Would you believe me if I told you that this wedding dress is made out of toilet paper?
No joke, the only materials used to create this dress were TP, tape, glue, needle & thread, and glitter. (Check out this video for a closer look — our quick interview is featured around the 3:00 mark!)
I’m always blown away by the amount of time and dedication the designers put into their dresses. They’re absolutely stunning!
This year, Susan took the 2nd place prize, and I couldn’t be happier for her.
I got to hang around for press opportunities and had a blast playing wedding dress model for the morning. I’m excited to see next years designs come to fruition and can only hope to be a part of this special event for years to come. Congrats, Susan!
• Casetify phone case
Two things I have really been into lately are marble prints and clear phone cases. When I found this Gold Flecked Marble Case from Casetify, I knew I wanted it and still adore it every time I catch a glance.
(They have over 20 pages of marble phone cases — good luck picking just one! Ha.)
I’ve always love Casetify products, and I finally ordered a new case a month or so ago. The brand carries a sleek line of iPhone cases, Samsung cases, apple watch bands, iPad covers, Macbook covers, and more. It will only be a matter of time until I get sucked into their line of holiday cases and start a small collection. Scott will never understand my infatuation with phone cases, but it’s the little things, right?
• Rubiroso Ristorante (Manhattan)
On of my dear friends and former NYC residents, Michelle, was in town last weekend, so she organized a girls’ pizza date at Rubiroso to catch up and enjoy one of the City’s best foods.
The restaurant is located on Mulberry Street in SoHo, and it won’t be my last time visiting. As expected, the pizza was delicious.
Our group ordered a variety of pies including the Classic, Rubirosa Supreme, and Tye-Dye. The company was just as fantastic!
• MeUndies
I debated whether to share this one or not … but … why not?
Scott found a monthly underwear subscription that basically sends a over a party in a box. You can order pairs a la carte, but MeUndies also has monthly memberships ($14 per pair/month) where you select your style, size, and plan (Classic, Bold or Adventurous). They pick the undies they think you’ll like each month, and you quickly build a fun, new collection.
I have to be honest that I thought Scott was funny for signing up for a membership, but it only took a few months before I got jealous. Now, we get his and hers pairs, and my pairs of MeUndies have been my very favorite pairs to wear to bed night after night. They’re cute and so comfortable. Give ’em a try!

What have you been loving this week?
Have a wonderful weekend!

Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
Haha just a heads up that in the undies section I think there’s a typo – “They pick the undies they think you’ll lick each month” … or maybe not a typo? Haha 🙂
Heather
Oh man, you’re absolutely right Erin! Ha. That’s what I get for typing this up late-night. Thanks for the heads up!
