Good morning friends, and Happy Friday!
I’m gearing up for another few days of work, but I will be enjoying my time off on Monday.
I can’t start this week’s Friday Favorites post without acknowledging how much all of you are my favorites. After announcing our exciting news on the blog, I read so many comments and sweet emails from long time readers, and I can’t thank you enough for the love and support.
Since I received a lot of questions, I will be covering the answers to all of them early next week. I’ll also be sharing some tidbits from the first trimester, and plan to sprinkle in a pregnancy update every now and then along with regular LIL happenings.
For now, I will say that I’m feeling great and I am really looking forward to what the next few months have in store!
In true Friday fashion, we’re talking faves, and I invite you to join in on the fun by talking about your favorite things from the week in the comments and link up with sections, too. Enjoy your weekend!
Friday Favorites #185: Week of 9/29
• The Play That Goes Wrong – Broadway Show
Being the spontaneous character he is, it surprised me (but it didn’t) when Scott asked me if I wanted to go see a Broadway show on Wednesday night while I was at work. The show was called The Play That Goes Wrong, and literally everything did — in a great way.
The whole storyline covers a murder mystery, but it’s really a comedy. The actors intentionally mess up their lines, run into things, and fall into everyone and everything, and most would consider witnessing all of it an awkward performance.
Since the audience is in on the fact that everything is intentional, it was hilarious. The stage was great and the props were incorporated in a big way with mishaps, explosions, falls, and funny situations. I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed and a Broadway show as much as I did with this one, so if you’re up for a good mix of theater and comedy, I would recommend this one to you!
We finished our impromptu date night with desert across the street at Bobby Van’s Steakhouse. It was a pretty pricey outing, but probably the best tartufo I’ve ever had.
• RXBAR whole food protein bars
I couldn’t tell you why I waited so long to try RXBAR protein bars.
Maybe it’s because I felt like everybody was writing about them, but now I see why. I discovered them at a running event this week (more details below), and I fell hard and quickly. I love how the ingredients are incredibly simple, and everything (including servings) is listed on the front. Egg white, almonds and dates? Sign me up!
I have a feeling that I’m going to be buying these often considering the fresh taste and guilt-free snacking. So far my favorite flavor has been Blueberry, and I will be on the lookout to try more when I see them!
• Brooks Running Event
It had been a hot minute since I put on a pair of running shoes, so I was excited when Brooks invited me to a event that they were hosting in the West Village on Tuesday morning.
Distance Tank // Fineform Sports Bra // Greenlight Tight // Levitate Running Shoe
The event included a 5K run, and since I’m not quite back to normal running shape yet, I decided to hold back and arrive a little bit later with my blogging friend, Ashley. She just had a precious baby girl named Katie 14 weeks ago (she’s exactly how old as I am far along!), and since she asked to bring her baby to the event, I knew she would be on my speed of holding off on the run and checking out the gear, seeing the new spring line, and enjoying a morning of chatter with other runners in the area.
(Zoe, Ashley, me)
The event ended with a gathering on the rooftop complete with iced coffees and refueling snacks (see the RXBARs above), and I’m excited to put all of the wonderful swag that I took home with me to good use.
If you’ve never tried out Brooks running gear, definitely give it a look. The sports bras and bottoms are so comfortable and supportive, and I love the variety of materials used in the tanks. I’ll take one of everything, please.
(This event featured the new Spring 2018 collection that will launch in January.)
As I slowly get back into a somewhat normal running routine, I will be sharing my thoughts on the Levitate running shoe, too.
Thanks for the great gear and invite, Brooks. Stay tuned!
• Nature’s Seasoning
I’ve been all about flavors and spices lately. This week, I couldn’t get enough of freshly sliced cucumbers sprinkled with Nature’s Seasoning.
Scott introduced me to the seasoning shortly after I met him, and I quickly became addicted to it. It’s a mix of salt, pepper, garlic onions, and sugar, and certainly spices up our vegetables along with the Everything But the Bagel seasoning that I featured last week. If you’re looking for a way to replace dressing on snacks like carrots, celery or cucumbers, give it a try!
• Congratulations and well wishes
As you can imagine, announcing our pregnancy was a very special event to us. It’s been a long journey to get here, so it was amazing when it hit me that it’s actually happening. There is a healthy baby growing in my belly, and it’s the best thing in the world!
After already feeling on top of the world on Wednesday, I felt even more blown away when I received a special delivery at work.
It was a gift from our friends Natalie and Adam who we met in Detroit, and they totally surprised me with this chocolate covered fruit display and “It’s a Girl” and “It’s a Boy” balloons!
The timing couldn’t have been better since everyone in my studio officially knows the news, too. Seeing this gift and realizing, once again, that this pregnancy is real put the biggest smile on my face and tears in my eyes.
Thank you so much, friends! We love and miss you!
