Happy Friday friends!
I’m coming to you a bit later this morning, but alas, Friday Favorites is here.
After a long week, it can get tiring staying up late on Thursday nights to finish the weekly round-up, so there are times where I take the next morning to gather my thoughts and faves to share with you. Today was one of those mornings.
As soon as I publish this post, I will be putting the finishing touches on a DIY Halloween costume and heading into work at the studio. Orangetheory Fitness goers already know it’s HELL WEEK, and we have a dress-up theme for the eight days of Halloween themed workouts leading up to the holiday. Today is Freaky Zombie Friday, so I tried my best to recreate this mummy-to-be look. I’ll try to snap some pictures to share on social and look forward to a few more days of festivities!
I hope y’all have a great day and enjoy reading what I’ve been loving this week. Be sure to scroll to leave some of your favorites in the comments and link up sections below!
Friday Favorites #189: Week of 10/27
• RODIAL skincare & makeup
RODIAL is a luxury line of performance skincare that offers targeted, results-driven treatments. The brand has an extensive celebrity following and global reach with a presence in 35 countries worldwide. I partnered with RODIAL for an In-Kind Partnership for the month of October, and I was looking forward to trying out their high-performance skin care essentials and makeup products to share with you here on the blog.
I really enjoyed using all of these products, but there were two that stood out to me the most.
While I usually go for a simple drugstore purchase of or , the blows them away. I like to think that I have a good handle on my eye liner line, but I have to admit that some days go better than others. The gave me extreme control, and I never had to “fix” a wing like I have had to do in the past. It was so easy to apply!
A close second favorite from this group is the Dragon’s Blood Velvet Cream hydrate and tone moisturizer. The cream feels thick, but you only need a small amount at time. It provides instant moisture and leaves my skin feeling softer than ever. Really. I’ve been using it morning and night for the last month, and it’s incredibly soothing. If you ask me, the only thing it’s missing is protection from sunlight, which is something that I usually look for in an all-day moisturizer.
Not pictured, but also sent to me to test out was a box of the made to hydrate, tone, and provide moisture-rich plumping. I have to admit that I’d never tried a lip mask before, but I was intrigued. After having one on for even a few minutes, I felt my lips soaking in extra moisture … similar to what you would expect a lip mask to feel like. After the treatment, I applied the Stem Cell Superfood Glam Balm Lip which plumps, hydrates, and smoothes. The combination of the two products left me feeling like I gave myself a lip facial! It was glorious.
The is a great product, too. Pictured is the South Beach color that adds as much hue as you desire with a quick application to the cheeks.
My overall thoughts on the RODIAL brand is that it’s expensive, but proved to offer high-end products that work. I could see results after just a few weeks of using the moisturizers, so if you can afford to invest in quality skincare, definitely give it a try!
• Michael & Ping’s Modern Chinese
One thing I really been loving lately is Chinese food! A new-to-us neighborhood favorite called Michael & Ping’s has been our go-to, and it’s located on 3rd Avenue and 8th Street in Park Slope.
Everything tastes so fresh, and I appreciate that all of the menu items are made to order and all of the ingredients are prepped daily. I try to order on the healthier side, but every now and then I just need my Sweet & Sour Chicken because it’s delicious.
On our last trip in, Scott ordered the Roast Pork with Snow Peas and Baby Corn and both dishes were so, so good. There’s usually leftovers involved, so while it’s pricier than the standard Chinese take-out restaurant, the experience and freshness makes it worth it.
• Planet Pepper and Salt Grinders
Those who have been reading the blog for a while probably already know that we love kitchen gadgets. Scott found this salt-and-pepper grinder set a while ago, but I haven’t highlighted it. It’s something I see and use every day, and for some reason it makes me smile.
I always prefer the taste of freshly ground pepper and salt, and thought the look of this modern holder was great for the window ledge next to the kitchen counter. Do you prefer freshly ground salt and pepper, too?
• Wusic womb music & heart beat doppler
Scott surprised me with the sweetest gift this week. I while back, I mentioned that I wanted to get a heartbeat doppler to hear our baby’s heartbeat in between doctors appointments. When I was experiencing some issues during the first trimester, I thought it might ease my worries to hear the heartbeat on a regular basis, but I never ordered one. I don’t know why.
Scott got ordered the Wusic Music Heartbeat Monitor, and we tested it out for the first time the other night.
The Wusic comes with two earbuds, a sharing attachment, and a recording attachment in case you want to record the heartbeat onto a computer. It also includes a digital download of personalized lullaby music for the baby, but we haven’t figured out how to play that quite yet. (Weekend goal!)
I received the monitor on Wednesday, an I opened up to try to detect our baby‘s heartbeat as soon as Scott got home from work. As suggested, I applied aloe vera gel (not included) to help tune out the static, and after moving very, very slowly all around my belly, we finally found it. It was so magical! That was actually the first time Scott was able to hear our sweet baby’s heartbeat, and I’m so glad he got to experience it. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for comfort during their pregnancy.

Patricia @Sweet and Strong
I’m always looking for new skincare and make up brands to try. Even though its so easy just to purchase the cheap drugstore brands. And I LOVE freshly ground salt and pepper. We just ran out of salt and I’ve used regular on vegetables and potatoes the other night, so not the same! Happy Weekend!
