Happy Friday! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve shared a Friday Favorites post, so it’s time.
I’m not going to apologize for slowing down the post frequency because I’m sure you all know why. It’s the handsome little dude you see pictured below and he turned 3 months old today! Can you believe that? Note to time … slow down, will ya?
I’m hoping to start the day off with an early morning workout (it always depends on if Skyler’s nursing time coincides with available class times at Orangetheory), then we are taking him to his three-month appointment at the pediatrician’s office. I always love going there and finding out his height and weight updates. It’s also nice to hear what to expect in the upcoming weeks with leaps of development and get some of my questions answered.
I’ll be sharing his three-month update soon, but let’s take a step back and get onto this week’s edition of favorites today. As always, I love hearing what you’ve been loving lately, so feel free to share in the comments section below. And – BLOGGERS – there’s still a link up at the bottom as well. Enjoy!
Friday Favorites #203: Week of 6/15
• tummy time playmat
I’m going to start compiling baby favorites to share down the road, but for now, I’m going to share my love for this tummy time activity mat. We didn’t register for anything like this, but I received it as a gift from a former client of mine after Skyler was born.
He absolutely loves it, and we use it multiple times a day every day.
I love that it comes with pieces like a bean cushion, mirror, and toys to entice him to enjoy his time on his belly. Everything is removable, and I wash it on gentle in the washing machine about once a week. I used it to cushion his head while on his back when he was teeny tiny, and he still really likes it on either side.
It’s a definite win and great gift for moms-to-be! (Thanks again, Colleen!)
• glass food containers
I’ve really been loving these glass containers that we recently picked up from IKEA.
We’ve been using plastic containers since I can remember, and we had a ridiculous collection of mix-matched pieces for quite some time.
I’ve been wanting to invest in a nice glass set since we got married, and we finally started a new collection on our last trip to IKEA. (They’re very affordable!) We didn’t get that many pieces, but we got enough to feel like a good start and got rid of the majority of our plastic containers. Half of them were piled up in our cabinets without a match for no reason at all, too. It feels great to purge and invest in something that lasts so much longer!
• daily probiotic smoothie serving (Kefir)
I’ve been trying to lower my dairy intake while breastfeeding, but one thing I haven’t put on hold is my morning swigs of Kefir. A coworker introduced me to it back in high school when I was getting sick, and I still love starting my mornings with a few big gulps of it for a healthy dose of probiotics to this day.
This was my first time trying the Pomegranate flavor, and it’s delicious. If you’re interested to read more about what Kefir is what the health benefits are to drinking it, here you go! Also, I just realized that there is an organic version. Um, yes, please.
Keep an eye out for it where you would find other smoothie treats in your local grocery stores.
• lactation cookies & this organic pre-made mix
I’ve heard about lactation cookies for years and finally tried my first batch when Julie (who is about to have Baby #2 any day!) sent over a batch shortly after Skyler was born. (Thanks again, friend!) They were incredibly satisfying and helped me get my milk supply going early on.
After that batch ran out, I wanted to make my own and then stumbled upon a pre-made organic mix suggestion from a friend.
You can easily buy Brewer’s yeast along with flax seeds and the rest of the ingredients in the mix to make your own batches at home, but I’m ordering this mix on repeat for now.
Do I notice a difference? Yup! When I’m not eating the cookies my milk supply gets Skyler through the day but does not produce nearly as much when I pump for a freezer supply. I’m currently looking into teas and other options to keep my supply up that don’t involve sweets but, to be honest, I really look forward to my cookies every day. They’re really good and I’m totally fine with the idea of having two(ish – hehe) cookies a day. Yum!
• A very special weekend in Michigan
My favorite thing about this past week has definitely been catching up with friends and even family in Michigan! We took Skyler for his very first flight and enjoyed four days in The Mitten to attend a sweet couple‘s wedding last weekend and catch up with loved ones.
This visit was extra special because we took a day trip up to Grayling to see my Grandma. She is 100-year-old years old and finally got to meet her long-awaited grandson.
It was so cute to see them together, and I was sad when our three-hour window came to a close.
We were also able to see our best friends and celebrate her birthday with a casual bonfire at her parents’ house. (Although, it became very obvious that I need to brush up on my S’more making skills. Woof.)
We picked this specific weekend to visit to be able to attend our friends Holly and Chad’s wedding. We know them from working with them for the Detroit Pistons, and it was a blast seeing everyone and dancing the night away. They were so adorable!
We did our best to make rounds with Skyler, and I think he finally had enough the last night before we flew home Tuesday afternoon. We met our friends for dinner and it was wonderful to see them, even though it was during baby witching hours. And it’s too bad Skyler looks like we’re torturing him in the photo! Poor guy.
All in all, Skyler did amazing throughout the whirlwind we threw on him. He was an angel on the plane rides, and I am praying he keeps that trend going when we make our way home to Florida next week as well. Here’s hoping!

Yes, it was such a great trip home. Those are always too short! And wow, you have one awesome birthday! xo
Happy 3 months, Skyler! Love these updates and pictures of your sweet boy! The lactation balls really helped my supply too. I found that I got too overwhelmed to make cookies (I didn’t enjoy cooking/baking the first year after having my son), so I started making no bake lactation balls and freezing a huge batch at a time. I still make them without brewers yeast and my little guy eats them too 🙂
Thank you so much! I still cannot believe we’re here already. Time slow downnnn! Oh no-back lactation balls are a great option. Thanks for the suggestion!
Girl, my baby just turned one year old and I still make those lactation cookies on the regular! I tell myself I’m eating them “for my supply”, even though this late in the game my supply doesn’t really need the boost. They’re just so good!
I’m obsessed with that cactus dress you wore to the wedding! Where did you find it?
Thanks Annie! I found it at Brooklyn Industries! https://brooklynindustries.com/quinn-dress-wavy-cactus-1720900-029-wda.html 🙂
