Hi and a big hello to you too, Friday! Who’s ready for the weekend already? (Virtual high five!) Me too.
Even though the work week was shortened, I am still looking forward to catching up on normal weekend things tomorrow. Oh, and then there’s car shopping. I have to turn in my lease to the dealership by Sunday so I need to boogie on the process of finding the right car up here. Wish us luck!
As far as today goes, I’ll be spending most of it running around getting ready for tonight’s game. Since I missed Monday’s, it feels more than strange that I haven’t performed in a week. It will be fun to get back to the court tonight! But enough rambling… it’s time to move onto this week’s Friday Favorites.
Don’t forget the welcome to join in on the fun by linking up or telling me some of yours in the comments section at the end!
Friday Favorites #21: Week of 1/24
• cinnamon heaven cereal
I have always been a Cinnamon Toast Crunch fiend, and as I have gotten older, only purchase the more nutritious, less sugary versions of it. Any time I see a new brand or box I have to try it.
This gluten-free version by Van’s, friends, is amazinggg.
Also, half of the box might be gone within two days. Not ashamed.
• tumblers
Over the past year or two I have acquired a serious adoration for tumblers, specifically ones topped with lids and straws. Throughout my days at home on the computer, you will find me sucking down water like nobody’s business.
Tumblers like this one or this one make it so easy to just keep refilling! Love that, and my hydrated body is thanking me for all the extra H2O.
• sunrise plane rides
Against my better judgement, I have been booking early flights to wherever I need to be lately. It doesn’t seem like the greatest idea when I have to get up in the wee hours of the morning, but I love landing in a new city ready to take on a full day.
I recently caught the sunrise on my flight down to Savannah and thought this view made it all worth it.
It’s so serene up there!
• time with high school friends
Speaking of Savannah, I have to include something about this special trip to celebrate my friend Katie who is getting married in March.
It was so, so great to see some of my best friends for an entire weekend and I already miss them tons!
• RENT
My all-time favorite show on Broadway has to be RENT. Growing up, it definitely exploited issues I didn’t quite understand at the time, but I have always embraced the characters and jammed out to the soundtrack. Hearing most of the songs pop up on my Pandora radio this week really brought me back.
Do you remember the movie coming out back in 2005? It’s all so good. I can’t stop playing it!
• winter weather comparisons
I can’t help but to laugh a little when I see my friends living in the south post something about how cold it is outside. I mean, it’s cute and all… but really.
Can we please revert back to using the word “chilly”? Trust me… you don’t really understand what cold feels like until you live negative lows for months at a time! Ahh! (Help me.)
• SO Delicious non-dairy creamer
I am giving Scott twenty cool points for picking this non-dairy coconut milk hazelnut creamer out and bringing it home all on his own.
If he is going to drink coffee, he typically goes for the sugary sweeteners so it was nice to see something I would actually enjoy show up in our fridge. It really is SO delicious!
• sunless tanner
You can probably imagine how challenging it is to keep up with any kind of color on your skin during the winters up here. And by challenging, I mean one hundred percent impossible without the help of tanning machines and products.
Keeping a tan all NBA season long really is a part of my job. Since I do not promote frequent trips to the tanning bed, I chose to get spray tans and apply self tanner whenever I can.
Whenever I find a product I can tolerate that doesn’t make me feel sticky and look orange, I share it with you! Here’s the latest win:
I grabbed this bottle of Hawaiian Tropic self tanner creme from ULTA, but you can also find it in the health and beauty aisles at stores like Walmart, Target, CVS, and Walgreens.
If you end up trying it out, however, be aware of the pump strength. It tends to come out strong and surprises me every time!
Giveaway Alert
Before I wrap up, I wanted to remind you of a fun fitness giveaway going on here through the weekend. If you like HIIT, treadmill, or interval workouts, be sure to enter in the Gymboss Interval Timer Stopwatch Giveaway by Monday!
Your Turn
Now I want to hear about some of your favorites.
Have a great start to your weekend! 😀
Jess
I can eat cereal for breakfast everyday!!!!!! I love to try all of them, but since sugary cereals are not an option for me anymore, I look forward to the healthiest versions (nature’s path, cascadian organic) 😉
I always carry some bottle of waters with me all day to keep my hydrated! I drink aprox 3 liters of water per day!
Early flights are such a love and hate. I wake up a bit cranky, but then the gorgeous view up there, while the sun rises are worth it, and well you have more time to enjoy the place you are visiting!
As for the chill weather, I know that is not as cold as your place, but even in Puerto Rico we have experience 40’s temperatures in some areas, and for a caribbean island that’s cold, well not like what you’re going through!
I have heard a lot of great thing of rent but haven’t take the time to see it. I think I will soon! I’m a musicals lover since I studied musical theater in high school years!
Have a nice weekend!!
Heather
I love both of those brands. Good job on the water intake!
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life
I need to try both the cereal and the creamer! I’ve been faithful to Coffee Mate creamer for the past year but I don’t like the ingredient list. I’m too cheap to go and buy a better quality creamer though! Also, that cereal just looks like perfection 🙂 I totally agree that when flying, it’s best to do it during the sunrise or the sunset. It makes the flight just *that* much better!
Heather
Yes! To all of those things. Happy Weekend! 🙂
Hillary | Nutrition Nut on the Run
that photo from the plane is great. happy friday!
Heather
Thanks, you too Hillary!
Ashlee@HisnHers
I looooove early morning flights. Well after Im up, ready and in the plane that is 😉 It basically gives you a whole extra day of vacation!
Flora
Rent is my second favorite Broadway production; Phantom of the Opera is my favorite.
strengthandsunshine
I used to get that Van’s cereal, but always had to add gallons more cinnamon! It just wasn’t enough! Yea and these negative degree temps are absolutely killing me! Which leads to the fact that I look so pale since I am always indoors. Maybe I should try that spray tanner!
Christa @ Sit-ups & Sequins
I agree, although getting up before the sun isn’t always fun at the time, it’s all worth it when you get to your destination with an entire day ahead of you!
I NEED that coffee creamer in my life! I’ve been using almond milk lately, which is good, but I do miss my creamer from time to time. I’ll be on the lookout here now for it!
Kelly's Reality
Oh man the winter weather comparisons 🙁 We are moving back to MI this summer from Nashville where the winters are so mild. Im not allowing myself to complain about the 30’s when Im going to be back in below zero soon.

I don’t know how y’all up north are surviving this! I’m one of those southerns whose completely dumbfounded by what is happening here. I can survive 120 F all day but this chill is something else! And I am in utter awe as to how real northerners are faring.
Runner Girl Eats
I am loving the so delicious coconut milk for creamer too! Last month I bought the chocolate mint flavor and it was seriously the best thing ever. And as someone currently in the FL ‘chilly’ temps, I promise I will not whine about it at all today since it could be so much worse *ahem* 1 degree?!?
Heather
Hold the phone. I totally forgot a chocolate mint version of that creamer exists! AHH! So delicious, thanks for the reminder!
Jen
I like coconut but not really a fan of the milks, I’m addicted to silks French vanilla creamer its so bad but oh so good!
