Good Morning! It’s Friday and to celebrate, we are going to kick the weekend off with a weekly favorites round up!
I’m sorry to be a bit later than normal, but I fully blame Scott for keeping me out past midnight last night. The boys had a dunk show at Michigan State University, and I have to admit that I had to hit the alarm more than a couple times this morning. I can’t wait to catch up on some Z’s tomorrow!
At the close of every week, you can now expect to find a compiled list of things that made me smile. Friday Favorites, if you will. Whether it’s a beauty product, a yummy recipe, or a funny video, I started this Friday Favorites link-up so that all of us could share the love.
I know I love reading what makes your week! Let’s roll…
Friday Favorites #27: Week of 3/7
• Revlon colorburst matte balm
I recently discovered lip color stain crayons from my friend, Alex. While grocery shopping with her this week, we somehow ended up in the beauty aisle (whoops) and I saw a similar collection of colorburst balms she was wearing earlier.
We both noticed the matte line at the same time and grabbed a few shades to test out. Right away, I was drawn to the Elusive Insaisissable (205) and the Striking Spectaculaire (240) colors.
Of course we had to bust both colors out at Wednesday’s home game.
Loving both shades and the matte finish!
• pedicures
Oh man. It had been a good six months since my last pedicure before just a few days ago. In my defense, the weather has been freezing and snowy since October, so that seems about right.
Knowing I needed one desperately after all of the dancing I have been doing this season, I treated myself to one and looked a bit crazy exiting the salon in sandals. It was in the low twenties, but I didn’t care… my tosies are still rockin’ fresh and shiny polish and I am extremely thankful!
• organic baby food
This one, again, stems from Alex. I remember her mentioning eating baby food as a snack option at the beginning of the season and I thought she was crossing the line a little. It wasn’t until I actually saw what she was talking about when it started making sense.
Scratch the creepy jars of “meat” flavors (which some of you expressed equal concern over!), and stick to the fruity flavors. They literally taste like fancy pouches of applesauce.
She got the idea from reading a tip straight from super models. Apparently, this is a common grab-and-go snack in the modeling industry that is nutritious, delicious, and filled with healthy sugars and carbs for energy. I have yet to taste all of the flavors, but have loved the Pumpkin & Banana and Blueberry, Pear & Purple Carrot from Plum Organics so far!
• sunglasses
It has been ages since I have purchased a nice pair of sunglasses! Lets be real… it’s been ages since I have actually needed sunglasses too. The first thing I did after landing in sunny Orlando, Florida was purchase a decent pair of them.
I have had my eyes on a pair of Rayban Aviator Sunglasses for quite some time, but when I went to try them on they didn’t fit the frame of my face very well. They felt loose on my nose and also very fragile. Just a few cabinets down, I found this pair of Coach Kristina Sunglasses instead.
I can’t wait to rock them every day this summer!
• Starbucks refreshers
I admit it. I am a total Starbucks junkie and find any excuse to have that little white cup filled with warm goodness in my hand.
While I usually make and enjoy coffee at home, there are times where I need something while running errands, on the way to practice, or on the road to get an extra kick of pep in my step.
I have been enjoying refreshers ever since they debuted, but have really appreciated the canned versions that are now sold in grocery stores and gas stations. While the new blueberry acai isn’t my favorite of the four flavors, it’s still pretty darn tasty!
• barre classes
I really, really miss attending barre classes on a regular basis. After visiting my old studio last week, I got the itch to get myself back into classes!
I am also looking forward to attending one next week in New York City. More details about that coming soon!
• black beans
I have always loved black beans, but have become particularly fond of them this past week for some reason. I haven’t really been in much of a meat mood, so I have been leaning on beans for extra protein.
I am prone to add beans to pretty much anything. Salads, rice or quinoa bowls, salsas, soups, eggs, you name it.
There have even been times where I have added a can to turkey chili!
• no really sign
And last, but certainly not least…
This sign I found at basketball gym last night.
Think I should have just propped that door open? 😉
Your Turn

Happy Friday! 😀

You should have propped open the door!! I love those lip stain crayons too!
Haha, it was so tempting!
Those lip stain crayons colors look beautiful!!!
High five for organic baby food! Best explanation 🙂
Black beans… I actually did a black bean brownie last saturday 😉 Love.them!
Have a great weekend, thanks for the link up!
Hehe, thanks! Glad I’m not the only fan of the baby food. That brownie sounds interesting and yummy!
I love my color stain sticks and didn’t know there were matte ones available- I need to get my hands on those! And the baby food tip is interesting…I’m curious to try it now 🙂
I buy those pouches for my daughter, and I’m fully guilty of sneaking a few “sips” of what she doesn’t finish. They are just pureed fruits and veggies…just like a smoothie in a pouch! Nothing wrong with that! I’m glad that you broadcasted your use of them–it’s definitely a taboo subject for adults to consume “baby food” 😉
The salad with black beans looks really good. Love those sunglasses!
Haha I think the baby food idea is good! As long as it’s real food, it’s just in a nice convenient package!
My gym is going to be offering barre classes soon and I’m SO excited! I considered joining a separate studio, but couldn’t really justify the price of that on top of my gym membership!
Oh yeah, I totally understand that. For a while (when I wasn’t dancing with a covered gym membership) I was strictly taking and teaching barre classes and running outside. Sounds limiting, but I really feel like that was the fittest I’ve been in years!
The sign cracks me up! And I wish we had barre classes in my area. Also, those aviators…gorgeous! My cheap pair just went awol. I would like to think I would have taken better care had they been more expensive. At least I’m not too stressed that they are gone. Have a great weekend!
I’m the worst at keeping up with sunglasses… hence why it had been ages since a decent purchase! Aw, I hope you eventually get to try a barre class. Hope you had a great weekend!
