Hello from Florida!
Today we are heading out for an early breakfast date with one of my best friends from middle school. I can’t wait to see her and revisit one of my all-time breakfast spots we don’t have in Michigan. It’s pretty exciting stuff!
Later this afternoon, Scott and I will be on our way to Lakeland for a week long summer camp hosted by our home church in Orlando.
The best part is that Scott’s sister and brother-in-law will be joining us all the way from Dubai! I am really looking forward to revisiting my summer camp days and am just as excited to have a fun week with both family and friends.
I’ll be sure to check in with you guys while we’re there, and have a full week of guest posts lined up to keep things entertaining around here. I have a feeling you will enjoy them!
Getting right to business, lets move on to this week’s edition of Friday Favorites. As always, I invite you to share some things you have been loving at the bottom via the comments section and link up tool!
Friday Favorites #42: Week of 6/20
• iced tea
While we may have migrated to the north (or… technically, the mid-west), I’m a Southern girl through and through.
Now that the weather is finally warming up, I’ve been making pitchers of iced tea every few days and have been refilling my go-to mason jar with it throughout the day.
I mix up the flavors by varying the tea bags, but my favorites have been the herbal fruity infusions, peach and green tea.
• chocolate covered treats
I first tried these mini bags of Brookeside Dark Chocoate Acai and Bluberry bites over a month ago at a woman’s retreat, and finally bought the big version in different variations this week.
I grabbed a single serving to enjoy on our way to the airport, but have been treating myself to the big bag of Dark Chocolate Covered Pomegranate bites at home. They’re great for a quick dessert or energizing snack!
• the sock bun
I bought this sweet bun shaper from Charming Charlie (<- love that store for accessories!) forever ago, and had yet to use it until yesterday.
I really have no idea what took me so long. I’ve been a fan of high buns for years and even did a (old school) video tutorial on how to rock one back in 2012!
Sock buns and bun shapers are amazing, and a lot less intimidating to style than you might think.
Put your hair in a high ponytail, pull it through the center of the sock, spread your hair out evenly over it, and secure it with a hair band and bobby pins.
Give it a good spray, and you’re good to go in just a few minutes time!
I love, love this style when my hair is not the cleanest, and you’ll be surprised how long it can stay in place without touching it.
Here’s mine after two plane rides and hours of sleeping and leaning on it.
Not too shabby!
• Sabra pretzels + hummus to-go snack
I have never hidden my obsession for anything dipped in hummus, especially something salty like crackers or pretzels.
I have been seeing these single serving packaged to-go pretzels and hummus kits from Sabra pop up everywhere!
Scott and I shared one after we devoured a couple of Chili’s Too Southwest chicken wraps on the plane just before we took off yesterday.
It was delicious, but I always forget to get an extra bag of pretzels.
There’s always way too much hummus left over, which always leaves me wanting more!
• Ed Hardy sangria
As soon as we arrived at my parents house last night, I was greeted with warm hugs and cold sangria.
This bottle of Ed Hardy Sangria one was a first for me, but was quite good and just the right amount of sweet.
She got it at World Market, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for it next time I’m in the store.
And finally… something I’ve kind of been holding out on showing you…
• heart and cross tattoo
Remember when I shared our adventures that took us to a tattoo salon a few weekends ago?
And teased you with this photo saying I just might have gotten one myself?
Welp. I did. And I waited about ten days to post a photo of it so it could let it heal properly.
I’ve wanted a tattoo on my wrist for a while and found this photo on Pinterest over a year ago. I “liked” it instead of pinning it to have as a reference, but didn’t want it to be visible on any of my boards in order to keep the idea to myself.
I’m sneaky like that.
I showed the picture to our tattoo artist and wanted to make it my own by changing up the colors and shape of the hearts.
I love it and it really does make me smile every time I see it!
Now let’s hear from you…
Your Turn
Have a great weekend and see ya from camp!
Nichole Josey
I hope you guys have an amazing time in Florida and on your retreat! The sock bun looks great:) That little hummus snack would be soooo handy! Love the tattoo. Happy Friday!
Heather
Thanks!! Yes, I love it and the hummus snack so so much! Happy Weekend 🙂
Anna-Marie @Beauty and the Beets
I love my bun maker- esp when I have to be at work so early in the morning and refuse to fight with my hair! Now that my hair is longer it is wonderful. And my hubby Chad gets those big bags of those chocolates at Sam’s Club every time we go. Happy Florida!
Heather
They’re so addicting! Happy Weekend! 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
I’ve always been so skeptical of those sock buns. Does it really work with long, long, thin hair? Haha, I feel like it just would not for me!
Heather
Well I don’t have long hair to attest, but my friends that do love them! I think you’d be surprised!

Iced tea is one of my all time fav summer drinks…and I have a bun shaper too! My sis is a hair dresser and told me to get it, and it’s absolutely amazing!! 🙂 have a great weekend!
Heather
I’ve really been loving the iced tea! Unsweet, mostly. But really, any and every kind. Ha!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie
I love your tattoo! And I need to get a high bun shaper, your hair looks so cute!
Heather
Thank you!
aladygoeswest
I have been rocking a sock bun for a couple years (I bought mine from H&M) and I just LOVE the look of it all pulled back with a big neat puff. Have a great time at camp!
Heather
Ha, I’m pretty sure I bought the same one from H&M years ago… then lost it. Love it! And thanks, have a great weekend! 🙂

The sock bun is a definite go- to for me, but it’s not cool when the sock falls out at the gym while doing burpees.. I guess I will have to stick to regular buns for working out!
Heather
Oh no! Ha. Maybe so!
grabyourkicks
I love hummus with most things too! I’m loving the Food Should Taste good sweet potato chips with hummus. So good!
Heather
Ohhh I’ll have to try those 🙂
Life Begins at 30?
No matter where I live, I am a Texas girl at heart. I love drinking tea! I really like sun tea, but I’m not patient enough to wait for it. 🙂
I love your tattoo…super cute and delicate! Thanks for hosting the linkup!!
Heather
I had never heard of sun tea until just a few days ago! Have I been living under a rock? Sounds yummy!
Jaclyn @ Bumpsweat
That’s how people get those perfect buns?!? Too bad I just chopped a good amount of length off my hair.
Heather
My hair is short now too, barely touches my shoulders!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Those dark chocolate covered acai berries have NO chance around me! Haha. I love those things. They’re so addicting.
I need to try the bun shaper thing! I tried a sock bun back when my hair was longer, and I didn’t have much luck with it. Maybe the shaper would work better for me.
I LOVE your wrist tattoo! Very pretty and very YOU it seems. Perfect.
Heather
Thanks girl! Yeah, maybe it actually works better for mid-length hair? I’ve been loving it for traveling!
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome
Iced tea is the best during the summer! I just brewed a big pitcher a few days ago and it’s already gone! Love it!
Heather
Ha, story of my life. Happy Summer!
Karen Cassidy
Totally love the tattoo…I am getting a tattoo on my wrist in a few weeks and CANNOT WAIT!!
Heather
Thank you!! 🙂
Whitney
I’ve always wondered if those bun shapers actually work. I’m not very good at styling my hair in any way but in a pony tail or just left down. That might be a fun way to mix it up. I love those Sabra single-serving packages!! Though, I totally agree, too much hummus left over. They need to add more pretzels!! The tattoo looks great too!
Heather
It’s definitely an easy solution to days I want to mix it up or just not do much at all! Thank you 🙂

I love chocolate covered treats! I’ve tried chocolate covered pomegranate and those are delicious too!
Heather
So good!
