Hi friends, and a Happy Friday to ya!
This weekend is going to involve a lot of studying, running, and relaxing. I have plans to get together with some girlfriends tonight, but other than that I am really looking forward to keeping things low-key.
Am I nearing 30 or what? (It’s fine. We’re rolling with it.)
Getting right to business, let’s move on to this week’s edition of Friday Favorites! As always, I invite you to share some things you have been loving at the bottom by utilizing the comments section and link up tool!
Friday Favorites #58: Week of 10/10
• pumpkin candy corn
I haven’t always been a fan of pumpkin candy corn, but I officially changed my opinion after putting this bowl of candy corn goodness together for Scott.
Below the pumpkins is a mixture of chocolate and caramel candy corn.
Are you a fan of just the original or do you like the flavors too?
• Lorna Jane Active Living bracelet
I received this adorable pink Active Living bracelet from my friends at Lorna Jane earlier this week to raise awareness for Active Nation Day.
Unfortunately, I got word of the movement a few days after the big day! I have, however, still enjoyed wearing the bracelet and if you search their Instagram account, you see it pop up everywhere like here, here and here with the hashtag #nowmoveit.
This limited edition MOVE NOURISH BELIEVE (MNB) bracelet is not just a pretty pink accessory, it also inspires a happier, healthier, and more active world!
If you are anywhere close to a Lorna Jane store, you can buy them for $4.95 or receive one for free with any in-store purchase. (As of right now) I don’t believe you can purchase them online.
• Tips From a Vegan Mom on Eating Protein via Char Eats Greens
Great tips for my vegetarians/vegans/picky protein eaters out there!
• Johnson’s Baby Moisture Wash
Over last month or so, I have been having some kind of reaction to something. I don’t know if it’s seasonal allergies, food related, or what, but something has been causing my skin to become irritated and made me an itch monster. I constantly scratch and have woken up with patches of rashes!
A friend of mine recommended the idea of trying old fashioned baby soap in the shower to replace my current wash.
Over the last week, I have been using this Johnson’s Baby Moisture Wash and I have noticed a huge improvement and calmer skin! Who knew?
• Carlton doing “The Carlton” on Dancing With the Stars
If you haven’t seen this yet, you’re welcome. Make sure to watch the end when Alfonso gives you the two tips to help your own “Carlton” swag!
I have already played it about twenty times.
• Anatomy coloring book (and coloring in general)
Per your suggestions (thank you!!) I searched for a coloring book to help me study the human anatomy for my personal training certification.
I chose The Human Body Coloring Book and it has been a BIG help!
Referencing my personal training book, I flagged the pages I needed to concentrate on and have been coloring my little heart out.
(oh hey, kitty paw!)
I have a great sense of what muscles do what, but remembering the scientific name for each one is where I have had the most trouble. Coloring them in one by one has made the memorization process a lot less overwhelming to learn.
I also forgot how much I love to color!
It’s almost therapeutic. I (of course) am ridiculous and had to buy the 64 pack for the built-in sharpener in the back. Remember when that made you the coolest kid in class? Oh, the good ‘ol days.

• the return of Pistons Basketball
Pre-season officially started this week! I really can’t believe it. I wasn’t able to attend the very first Detroit Pistons game, but I went last night!
How cool is this new (massive) jumbotron? It’s so bright!
I sat sidelines with a group of friends and enjoyed watching the game and entertainment teams perform.
We’ve walked away with two consecutive wins, so we can only hope the streak continues!

Two this week because I couldn’t decide which one is better.
(Guilty.)
Hehehe!
Have a great weekend! xo
Kelly Runs for Food
I turn 30 this year too and I’m excited because it means people won’t expect me to have more exciting weekend plans than catching up on my DVR and drinking wine in my yoga pant. Nothing wrong with a low-key weekend! 🙂
Heather
Haha, DVR + wine + yoga pants/sweats is seriously the highlight of my weeks lately. Is that sad? Nope. Love it! Happy Weekend!
Heather @fitncookies
Haha those ecards are great. Love the imaginary outfit 😉 I never heard of an anatomy coloring book, but coloring is really therapeutic. I remember in college before finals our dorms would have “stress relief” activities and one was always coloring. Of course you ned the 64 pack! Gotta have all those colors. Have a great weekend.
Heather
That’s such a great idea! I love that your dorms included activities like that. Haha, of COURSE I did. Ridiculous.
SuzLyfe
Don’t worry, I’m 26, and I’ve been doing the study/run/relax for yyyyearrrrs. I’ve noticed that I tend to pin things that I know I will never do or things that I’ve already basically done, just not as well. I’m not sure if I’m helping myself by doing that! Have a great one!
Heather
Haha, me too, my friend, me too. And YES I am totally guilty of pinning all-the-things and doing a tiny percentage of them. If any. It’s a wonderful kind of black hole, isn’t it? 😉
Anna-Marie @BeautyandtheBeets
I have to laugh at the box of crayons- what a great idea though! Crayons just bring out the kid in all of us. I’m going to try the baby wash as well too – another great idea for problem skin.
Heather
Hehe, I know. It’s silly, but awesome at the same time! Let me know how the wash works for you if you try it!
Strength and Sunshine
Candy corn used to be my favorites!
And I love coloring! I always forget how nice and relaxing it can be! Haha!
Heather
It’s seriously the best. I might need to keep a coloring book around to break out every now and then. #imachild #noshame
Becky @ Olives n Wine
I’m so glad I’m not a fan of candy corn – I think it would definitely be dangerous during this season. Also, I have super sensitive skin as well and have to be really careful what kinds of soaps I use to prevent rashes.
Heather
Maybe you should give the baby wash a try? Sounds crazy, but it seems to have worked for me. What are you currently using? (I’m curious just I need to try others down the road). Happy Friday!
bnwilliams500
I throw some peanuts into my candy corn mix and that’s when the snack party really gets in gear 😉
Heather
That sounds so good! YES.
Elsie @ Sharing Healthiness
My weekends have been very low key lately so I think the granny in me is taking over..OH NO! Haha! I don’t know if it is the colder weather but staying warm at home, snacks and a movie sound perfect!
The Carlton dance was seriously amazing! So great that coloring has worked for you. If only there was more coloring and less reading/writing when studying #alwaysakid 😉
Heather
I have learned to just embrace the inner granny… no shame. 😉 Me too! I highly suggest coloring anatomy in a book for anyone interested in studying it. 😉
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
Enjoy your low key weekend! Those are always necesessary to mix in sometimes. Love those funnies! Have a great Friday.
Heather
Definitely! Enjoy your weekend as well!
Sierra&Faith Winks and Eyerolls
Happy Friday! Thank you again for hosting. We’ve never been fans of candy corn and actually haven’t tried the pumpkin kind. We might just have to see what this is all about. The Carlton dance was priceless! Enjoy your low key weekend and have a great one 🙂
Heather
Thank you so much for linking up! I go back and forth on the pumpkin ones. This year, I am loving them. 🙂 Thanks, have a great weekend too!
JMWong
TGIF! I’m so happy candy corn is back! Have you tried the Smores Candy Corn? It’s delish. Thanks for hosting the link up and have a great (low key) weekend!
Heather
Ahhh I haven’t! I bet they’re amazing. Thanks for linking up! Happy Friday! xo
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
Fresh crayons are the best! I love that DWTS video!
Heather
Both of those things make my heart smile. <3
Sara @ Lake Shore Runner
Happy Friday! That jumbotron looks awesome! I wish I got more of the Detriot games in Chicago, but sadly I don’t. Hopefully I will be able to get to a game this year when I am home!!
Heather
The Pistons play the Bulls in CHI Nov. 10th! Scott and I are going to try to make it over. 😉 Happy Friday!
aladygoeswest
You looked super cute at the game. All grown up and watching from the sidelines! 🙂 Happy Friday to you!
Heather
Aw, thanks! The dance team is a lot younger this year… so it definitely makes me feel more grown up! Ha. Hope you have a great weekend!
Courtney
YES to those someecards! And now all I want to do is go color… 😉 Have a good weekend, my friend!
Heather
Hehe, it’s seriously the best. Now we just need to go ahead and start having children so I can have an excuse to color all the time… (to help entertain them, of course.) Happy Weekend! xo
Kelsey Finkle
That Human Body Coloring book looks interesting. Seems like it would be great for me to get as a yoga teacher to study anatomy!
Heather
It is! It’s been a great way to visually break down what I’ve been learning. It would be a great tool for any group exercise instructor!
Leslie @ Life Begins at 30?
OMG! Carlton doing the Carlton made my week!! Have a great weekend!
Heather
Hehehe, right? So great. Thanks, you too!
cleaneatingveggiegirl
Original candy corn is definitely my favorite! Unfortunately, there aren’t many brands I can eat because a lot of them are not vegetarian since they contain gelatin 🙁
Heather
Boo… there has to be some out there! They’re probably tricky to find. Let me know if you do!
Sarah @ Sarah Sincerely
Candy Corn isn’t my favorite, but I’m definitely not a fan of the chocolate kind. Honestly, just give me plain ole chocolate. I’m definitely with you on the coloring. Just one of the reasons I love teaching 3rd grade. I get to color more than the average adult. 🙂
Heather
Aw, I bet that’s a blast! And yes, give me all the chocolate. Anytime! 😉
Adventure Culture
My friend shared the “Carlton” video with me & I about died with happiness!
Heather
It’s so great. I probably watched it five times in a row the first time I stumbled upon it. Ha!
Nancy (@spiffykerms)
I don’t have a TV or cable so I’m glad people were posting about the Carlton dance from that show. I LOVED it. Cracked right up – side note… I kinda dance like Carlton….
Heather
Haha, that’s talent right there! 😉
Kaylin @ Enticing Healthy Eating
Pumpkin candy corn has been my favorite from the beginning. It was like, when I first took a bite of the pumpkins for the first time, all of my love towards original candy corn was diminished to such a small space in time. Ha! But seriously…I can’t even leave a bag in the house or I’ll go through the whole bag of pumpkins way to fast!
Heather
I packed our huge bowl with Scott to take with him for the weekend! 😉
Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate
Oh man, I’m a sucker for candy corn…I just bought the pumpkin spice flavor and I.Can’t.Stop.Eating.It.
Heather
Haha, so addicting!
JenB
LOVE candy corn! But I’m only ORIGINAL all the way. Can’t even eat the ones with the brown instead of the yellow bottom (much less any of the flavored ones). I also can’t eat the pumpkins, not sure why. I have been SO bad this Fall though, I’ve purchased several bags of candy corn … and have eaten my way through them (my boys did help!) Just bought another one this morning. WHY do I do that to myself?
Heather
Ha, it’s so funny… people either love or hate the flavored ones. My hubby has gotten me in some serious trouble bringing home candy and sweets this season!
J @ A Hot Southern Mess
Caramel candy corns!?! I had no idea! I must try these! I LOVED watching Carlton doing the Carlton!
Heather
The best. <3
taramdeal
I’m totally a traditional candy corn type of girl, and I love to mix it with peanuts. That salty and sweet combo is the best! And that anatomy coloring book looks awesome! I wish I had that when I was getting certified!
Heather
YUM. I love anything sweet and salty! And yes, it’s been a huge help 🙂
Kim @ Fittin Pretty
I love it all! That bag, those jeans, the detail on the top…!! And I can totally feel myself getting slooooowly convinced to try Stitch Fix….peer pressure!! The worst thing that could happen is that I’d love it. 🙂
