Happy Friday! How was your week? Mine was all over the place, but in a good way.
I don’t have much planned for the weekend, but I’m kind of excited about that. It’s been a while since I could just hang and enjoy wherever the days take me.
Before I get rambling, let’s dive right into this week’s edition of Friday Favorites. Don’t forget to share some things you have been loving this week too by linking up and commenting below!
Friday Favorites #78: Week of 2/27
• infinity scarves
I have been loving infinity scarves since last Spring. I purchased a handful of them from zulily as Mother’s Day gifts last year, and couldn’t help but to include two more for myself in the order.
Every now and then, I’ll click over and see what kind of . There’s always a ton of cute ones! These are pretty lightweight, so I don’t wear them throughout the year. I do, however, live in them when I’m traveling.
• Nana’s family recipes
I inherited a very special gift while I was visiting family this week.
For as long as I can remember, my Nana always prepared the best cookies, desserts, and dishes. She sadly passed away in 2010, but her memory has been talked about and cherished by many.
My mother, aunts, and I spent an afternoon at my grandfather’s place this week, and I felt very honored that they wanted to give me her box of recipes. Inside, I found a mix of original, clipped, and passed down family recipes, most of which are handwritten.
I plan to take time to really go through them this year. I’d love to re-create some of my favorites and figure out a way to share the recipes with the rest of my family. <3
• The Pampered Chef Spoon Rest
Along with the recipes, I also took home this Pampered Chef spoon rest. I already had one that I hand painted for our stove, but this one means a lot more to me. It seems to fit right in.
You can find similar ones , , and .
• How To Get Away With Murder
Do you remember when I featured #TGIT a couple of weeks ago?
Since then, I have been curious about How To Get Away With Murder and finally gave it a chance on my plane ride down to Florida. I watched two episodes back to back and didn’t want the plane to land until I could watch more. It’s so good!
Can we just acknowledge last night’s two-hour season finale for a second? Ummm….???
If you are a fan of Scandal, you’re going to looove this show. Give it a chance!
• Girl Scout Cookies
I know I’m not alone with an obsession with Girl Scout Cookies. What’s your favorite box?
My number one pick will without a doubt be Thin Mints.
Always Thin Mints. Preferably frozen.
• 16 Dogs Who Tried Their Best But Didn’t Succeed via Buzzfeed
Please tell me if you scrolled through all of those pictures and didn’t laugh.
(You might be a robot.)
• seeing family, friends, and sunshine in Florida
I was so happy to get the chance to escape the winter and spend some quality time with my family and childhood friends in Florida earlier this week. Check out the highlights!
• Orlando pet snuggles
Along with my trip home came a couple of days worth of long overdue pet snuggles. This handsome Siamese kitty named Boss was actually my cat after college. I adopted him from a close friend in Tampa and decided to let him stay at my parents’ when I moved into a condo.
He has access to an outside porch there, so I felt bad taking him away from the beautiful world of the outdoors. I can’t wait to love on him every time I visit!
Magic, on the other hand, came after I left home. He’s a two-year-old Picardy Shepherd (Berger Picard) that gets bigger and bigger every time I see him!
The breed is known to be hyper as puppies, and he has calmed down a lot since my last visit. This was the first time he actually let me snuggle and pet him. He’s a sweetie!
• this throwback rap mug
(I obviously need from Etsy.)
Because… who doesn’t?

Infinity scarfs are the best! I wear them all of the time, even inside. Also loving your mug. I have my eye on one that says, “She drinks more coffee than a Gilmore Girl.” Happy Friday!
Heather
Ha, that mug would fit right into my collection… Happy Friday!
Nichole Josey
Oh my gosh. How amazing sweet about the recipe box. I know you will cherish it with all your heart<3 What an incredible keepsake to have forever. You know I'm with you on the infinity scarves and thin mints! 🙂 happy Friday!
Heather
Hehe, yes! Two of my favorite things. I’m looking forward to making a special keepsake with all of them. Stay tuned! <3
Sarah
We LOVE How to Get Away with Murder! Last night’s finale is on our DVR, we haven’t had the chance to watch it yet. But I can’t wait! Frozen thin mints…is there any other way to eat them!?
Have a great weekend!
Heather
The last couple of minutes… AHHH. You’ve been warned! 😉
cleaneatingveggiegirl
It’s SO good!!!
SuzLyfe
This week has been a waiting game for me! Love that scarf, but I know I would get frozen thin mints all over it. I think Chicago is like the only place you couldn’t buy the cookies online. I am bereft of cookies! have a great weekend!
Heather
Haha, I like to call my scarves “fancy food catchers” because, really, that’s exactly what happens. Ahh, I hope you find some cookies!
Taca
I love the infinity scarves! They are so awesome! Also, is there a better gift than your nana’s recipes?! What a rewarding present! Enjoy your weekend 🙂
Heather
I’m really looking forward to making and sharing her recipes. <3
Elsie @ Sharing Healthiness
Everything handwritten just makes me whimsical..so special!! Pet snuggles especially when you have been gone a long time are so so energising…I would love to be welcomed amywhere like that every time 😉 Have a great weekend!
Heather
Thanks Elsie, you too!!
Kelly Runs for Food
Haha that mug is hilarious. I love HTGAWM, but I haven’t watched the finale yet. Hopefully I can avoid spoilers!
Heather
I did my best to remain vague… THAT ENDING! *jaw drops*
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
Omg I love that mug and that cat photo! And how special you now have all those family recipes. <3
Happy Friday!
Heather
Thanks Erin, Happy Friday to you too!
fitsickle
HTGAWM is the best show!! So glad you’re watching it now. I’m so pumped to watch last night’s episode tonight. Love the coffee mug.. My favorite mug says “I wish this was champagne” :)) Happy weekend!!!
Heather
It only took an entire season to jump on board 😉 Ha, that mug sounds awesome. Enjoy the episode tonight!
fitfullfun
Love that ecard about PJs v. “regular clothes!” So true! We’ve been snowed in, so it’s usually PJs under snow apparel. 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Heather
Haha, the best! Happy Weekend! xo
dawn@joyfulscribblings
Just came across your blog. I love Scandal and haven’t watched How To Get Away With Murder despite all the ads. I’ll have to give it a try.
Heather
Hi Dawn, welcome! Thanks so much for stopping by. If you enjoy Scandal I think you would love HTGAWM too! Happy Weekend!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
That is awesome about your grandmother’s recipes! Love that. Enjoy your low key weekend and thanks for hosting the link up.
Heather
Thanks Lauren! Happy Friday!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Hi Heather! TGIF! Glad you have a relaxing weekend ahead. I do not, but I’m excited about my plans! And that mug is awesome — I am in need of a new big mug. Oh and the recipes from your Grandma? LOVE that!
Heather
Enjoy your weekend of fun! Thanks so much for linking up. Happy Friday!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Loving that mug! Now I have that song in my head… 😉
We have a low key, chill weekend ahead as well, and I’m pretty stoked about it. Enjoy yours!!
Heather
Haha, sorry. Me too 😉 Enjoy your weekend!
Ellen
It’s so nice you got your grandma’s old recipes! Love your pizza pasta casserole recipe – I have to try that. Thanks for hosting the link-up, and enjoy your weekend!!
Heather
Let me know if you do! Thanks so much for linking up, Happy Friday! xo
Shelly
I love, love all the recipes I have from my Meme…delicious of course but my favorite part is having them all in her own handwriting. I’m with you on the thin mints…this was the first year my daughter sold them though and we still have way too many at our house!! I’ve been keeping a box in the freezer at lunch and having 4 each afternoon. Loving that coffee cup too! Have a fun weekend.
Heather
Of course, the handwritten cards is the best part <3 Oh, I would be in some serious trouble if someone in my house was selling them!
Lanae Bond
We have some of the same faves. I love my grandmother’s recipes, Girl Scout Cookies, and infinity scarves!
Heather
All of those things make today that much better. <3 Happy (almost) Weekend!
Strength and Sunshine
That is so great that you have those recipes! That’s going to be fun cooking and going through them all!
Heather
I know, I really can’t wait to try some of them. I’m sure it will bring me right back to her kitchen… if I can even come close to duplicating it, that is. 😉
Emma @ Life's A Runner
Okay, that e-card fits me to a T. Because of my class schedule, I sometimes end up finished with my day at lunch time and work out right after. Which leads to the ever-present struggle of Pants. Also, is it incredibly tragic that I have never had a girl scout cookie? We have Girl Guides in Canada but I just don’t think it’s the same. 😉
Heather
What?!?!? Oh my gosh. I’m so tempted to send you a box myself. You NEED to try a box (or ten)!!
Ange @ Cowgirl Runs (@cowgirlruns)
Loooove siamese cats, totally my fave, but I’m also totally biased 🙂
I agree it took a bit for HTGAWM to take off, but now I’m enjoying it. Buuut, I’m not too sure what I’m thinking of the finale.
Heather
Yeah… I have so many mixed emotions. I’ll definitely be tuning into Season 2!
cleaneatingveggiegirl
As soon as the season finale for HTGAWM was over last night, I instantly posted to Facebook that anyone not watching it was seriously missing out. I’m obsessed and so hooked. I love that the finale took us to a place that we were not expecting… which I figured would happen 😉
Heather
Gotta love Shonda Rhimes!! What a talented writer!
Amy M4gic
Family recipe box for the win! My mom gave me my own recipe box as an engagement gift, and included all of my favorite recipes of hers to start me off with. Not only is it an amazing reference that I use all the time, but I also love having things with her handwriting on them (that sounds so weird), but it’s just comforting. 🙂 Happy Friday, Heather!
Heather
It’s not weird, it comforting!! So glad you have that to reference, what a cool gift! Happy Friday 🙂
Annette Perkins (@FitnessPerks)
Infinity scarves are the best! So cute, warm, and functional. Not to mention easy to wear, haha. Happy Friday!
Heather
I may or may not own 5 and want more… just sayin’ 😉
Jacquelyn
I have an awesome idea for the recipes from your grandma! My grandma passed away in 2010 also and was just an amazing cook. My aunt had all of her recipe books which were handwritten and for Christmas that year she made all us girls our own cookbook of my grandmas recipes. She copied about 50 of her most wanted recipes and combined them all in a spiral book with my grandmas picture on the front!! Would be an awesome DYU gift for your family members!!!! Xoxox
Heather
Aw, what a thoughtful gift! I’m hoping to be able to read and recreate a lot of them and take pictures of the recipes. My plan is to create a recipe picture book with the recipes typed out, but it would be cool to include pictures of the handwritten recipes as well. We’ll see how it turns out!
beautifullygrayblog
Hahha! I love that e-card. I am always taking showers at weird times of the day… and always go right for the PJ’s!
Heather
No shame in that! 😉
Amy C. (@RunningEscapade)
Love infinity scarves, Thin Mints (just wish they were GF), and HTGAWM – watching last night’s episode right now 🙂
Heather
Oh my gosh, gluten free Thin Mints would REALLY get me into trouble!!
Tricia Johnson
I love having lightweight scarves that I can throw on to effortlessly add a little something special to a normal outfit. I can’t seem to find too many that I like though, so I’ll have to check out Zulilly!
I’m happy you were able to get some keepsakes from your Grandma. Those are so special to have.
Sarah @ Sweet Miles
Oh my goodness yes, HTGAWM is my jam these days!!! LOVVVVE it. Bummed that it’s over for a little while, but can’t wait for it to come back on!!!
Heather
As soon as I get into the show, it goes on a break. Figures 😉
gretch @ gretchruns
Hi heather! I’m new to your blog (I joined your linkup for the first time today!) so I have a weird question for you…is the background image from fabletics? I hope I’m not going crazy but I swear that’s the pattern on a pair of my leggings by them! I love it so it made me happy to see that 🙂
Oh and I’m obsessed with HTGAWM! About to watch the finale right now. Can’t wait to see scandal as well!
Heather
Hi Gretch, welcome!! Thanks so much for stopping by and for linking up 🙂 Yes, the top is from Lorna Jane and leggings are from Fabletics! I like to call them my party leggings <3
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance
Always YES to infinity scarves! When its chilly (not buried in snow like I am now) I wrap it around me with my arms inside and it’s the perfect layer. I always bring one when I’m going to see a movie because I freeze!
Nicole @ Squash on Squash
Love infinity scarves!! They are so much less hassle than regular scarves because you dont have to readjust them etc all the time. Hope you have a great weekend!
Emily Swanson
Wow. What a treasure to have a recipe collection like that. Grandma’s recipes are always the best!
