Good morning! I hope you all had a fantastic week.
Ours flew by, but I’m not complaining. It’s finally starting to feel like Spring and I have been constantly smiling about it. Here’s hoping you were able to take advantage of decent weather in your neck of the woods too!
There’s nothing crazy on our schedules this weekend, but I am really looking forward to a double-date night out in Ferndale tonight. Scott and I have been on a bit of an exploring kick lately, so we are just going to keep riding it until we turn back into homebodies. It will happen soon again, I’m sure.
All right. Let’s roll right into this week’s installment of Friday Favorites!
Every week, I share what I have been loving and invite you to share your favorites in the comments section. While you’re at it (bloggers), link up your own favorites post using the blue InLinkz button below!
Friday Favorites #80: Week of 3/13
• Firmoo glasses
I got a special delivery from a online glasses store called Firmoo this week.
The company recently reached out to me asking if I would like to feature a pair of their frames on the blog. After a quick glance over their inventory, I saw there were plenty of glasses right up my alley and loved how affordable their looks are.
Since I already had a black pair I love, I ordered a similar look from the unisex line in brown and clear. I was really impressed at the quality when they arrived, considering the frames cost under $40!
(Michael Kors – find them , and – glasses on the left, Firmoo on the right)
I requested my prescription from my optometrist and put in my order at the end of February. My glasses came in at the beginning of this week, and I have been all about the extra pair.
By the way, their site just became even more affordable. There’s currently a St. Patrick’s Day sale going on where you can receive 30% off sitewide using the promo code SPD6543. If you’re in need of a new set of frames, I would definitely recommend taking advantage of it!
Thanks, Firmoo!
• macadamia nut milk (in my coffee)
Have y’all ever heard of macadamia nut milk?
I hadn’t until my recent stop into Gloria Jean’s Coffees this week. It was my first time in one of their coffee shop locations, and I noticed their featured coffee as soon as I stepped up to order. Doesn’t the Caramel Coconut Macadamia look heavenly?
I couldn’t resist and got a medium without the whipped cream. I enjoyed the taste of the macadamia nut milk! I would, however, be interested to try it on its own and compare it to almond or cashewmilk. I think I would love it!
• melting snow
You guys… Spring just might be coming. Check out the disappearing snow!
With rising temperatures into the 40s and 50s this week (!!!), I have been taking advantage of it by getting outside as much as possible. I took a long walk and run later on around the neighborhood with Roadie yesterday.
It was the first time in a long time that I could comfortably run with one layer on. Roadie insisted on showing his Blue Steel face in our post-run photo, but I assure you that he was just as ecstatic to be outside as I was.
We’ve officially been back to a normal running schedule (three times a week), thanks to the beautiful weather. I seriously can’t get enough of the warmth and sunshine. Yes!!
• Soho
Scott and I had been wanting to check out a new Korean and Japanese restaurant close to us for months now. After a kink was thrown into our plans last night, we took it as a sign to just eat out forget dinner at home. I’m the absolute worst at cooking at home this week. It’s fine.
Soho offers an extremely wide variety of Korean and Japanese specialties including a full (and impressive!) brunch menu, a collection of freshly infused sakes, and, of course, sushi. While that was all tempting, we kept things simple with two of their specialty entreés.
Oders came with either a small salad or soup, and the ginger dressing was really good. Scott ordered the Korean Bibimbap, which came out still cooking in a large skillet. It was delicious!
Craving a broth bowl, I ignored my instincts to stay away from spicy orders and went for the Spicy Ramen Seafood Bowl.
My eyes were already watering a couple bites into my meal, but it was completely worth it. We loved the atmosphere and everything was wonderful. We will definitely be returning soon!
• dark red hair color options
So… my friend Alex sent me this photo a couple of days ago. She saw a friend of hers post it online asking for hair color advice with a message saying “A is YOU!”
Yup… it sure is. Gosh, I loved that hair color. I sported that dark red/auburn color for years while dancing for the Magic, and then again while dancing my last year up here for the Pistons. I was completely obsessed with it, but it was a pain to keep up with fading and hair appointments. These days, I sport my natural routes and it’s going well so far.
I got the biggest kick out of this picture collage though. I see that shot of me floating around Pinterest all the time. Creepy or cool? Ha!
• House of Cards
Um, why did it take me so long to give the House of Cards series a chance? Seriously.
For whatever reason, I had been resisting falling into another series to be consumed in on Netflix for the longest time. HoC kept popping up in so many of your Friday Favorites posts last week, that I finally broke down and got Scott and a couple of friends to watch two episodes with me this week.
Welp… we’re officially hooked, and now I know what will be taking over my “productive” time at home on the weekends. Thanks, guys!
• Great Lakes Coffee (Detroit)
I have mentioned this coffee shop on the blog before, but I feel like it deserves another shout out today in #FFavorites.
(Pay no attention to the photo bomb named Scott in front.)
Scott and I, along with our friend, Hannah, stopped into the shop on our way to WWE WrestleMania Tuesday. It was packed with people on Apple computers (seriously… everyone had a Mac. It was so funny!), and it was the first time we took advantage of their table service with coffee and a sandwich order for Hannah.
Scott ordered a doctored up Sexy Mexican (which was delicious), and the girls went with a regular Brazilian coffee with steamed almond milk. I always love everything I order there, and I enjoy the little stop-in every time we get over to Midtown!
• So Delicious Dairy-Free Ice Cream
Speaking of coconut, almond, and macadamia nut milk…
If you ever want to try a non-dairy, gluten free ice cream, this is where it’s at, my friends. I have tried a couple of flavors of the So Delicious Coconut Milk frozen yogurt line and absolutely love it. I strongly recommend you give it a try if you haven’t already!
• My 10 Minute Core Burner Workout featured on ActivewearUSA
I really do love that workout, and have already completed it a couple of times since posting it last week. Thank you so much for the share!

Haha… Nobody.
Nailed it. Every time.

Your Turn
Have a great weekend!

Great Lakes Coffee is heavenly. I wish I lived closer to one, but when I do get there it is such a treat.
Heather
I know! They used to have one open right in my church. I always made a point to stop by after service. So good!
Becky @ Olives n Wine
Oh my gosh, I LOVE those new glasses of yours! I’m embarrassed to say how much I spent on mine now, LOL. Have a great, spring-y weekend 🙂
Heather
Oh don’t worry, I spent more than a pretty penny on my black ones. Yeesh. What’cha gonna do!
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables
I want that coffee!! And those glasses… so, my sweet baby has carried my glasses off somewhere to never be found again. I’m off to look for some new ones! Thanks girl!
Heather
Oh no, you are so great… your sweet baby. 😉 I love Baby D! I hope you find some good ones!
Nichole
I LOVE those frames!!! I need new glasses deal bad mine are so old lol. HOC is such a good show, Billy got me hooked back when it first came out. I haven’t started season 3 just yet, only watched the first episode but I think there’s some time this weekend to watch a few:) happy Friday!
Heather
I’m sure I will be glued to Netflix at some point this weekend. I really do love my new frames! You should check the site sale out 😉 Happy Weekend!
bendiful
Melting snow and above freezing temps are the BIG winners this week! We are having a thaw here as well. Those glasses are super cute. How are the lenses? I’m a glasses abuser and I always scratch the lens, so I try to always get really durable ones. I’m blind. I still haven’t seen house of cards but it’s on my must watch list.
Heather
YES!! Times a million. That’s all. 😉
The lenses are great. I stuck with the original, no upgrades or anything, and am extremely pleased!
Kelly Runs for Food
That Soho place looks amazing! I discovered bibimbop a couple years ago and it’s one of the best dishes ever. Also, welcome to the HoC obsession. That show is so craaaaazy. Have a great weekend!
Heather
I had never heard of bibimbop, and it took all of my will power not to laugh when Scott ordered it. It’s an amazing dish and is super fun to say. Ha! #itsthelittlethings
Sierra&Faith Winks and Eyerolls
Loving those glasses! And even though we aren’t really big coffee drinks now we want one 😉 That is so crazy your picture ended up in a friends roundup text. Great hair color by the way! Have a great weekend 🙂
Heather
Haha, I know right? It always makes me laugh when I see that photo pop up. And thank you! I would keep it up if it wasn’t so dang expensive. Happy weekend to you!
HEATHER My Little HEA
Yay for melting snow! It hit the 80’s in Florida this week so we’re definitely enjoying it. I love that coffee shop, looks like a wonderful place to just chill in with my mac, lol! I’m not sure if seeing a pic of yourself used in different instances like that would be cool or creepy. Probably equally both I’m sure. Oh gosh those Pinterest fail pics are hilarious! New link up follower! Happy Friday!
Heather
The 80s!!! I can’t even remember what that feels like! Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy the weekend! 🙂
Stacy @ Sweating Tulipz
Those frames are super cute! The last time I got a new prescription, I just got the lenses put into my old Dolce & Gabana frames b/c I still really loved them and just couldn’t swing a $400 bill at the time for new glasses. I was thinking about looking to order a cheaper pair online but was nervous about the quality. Definitely going to give this brand a try! They are super cute and don’t look flimsy at all!
I love all the hair colors In that collage, and how cool you are in it! 😉 What an eerie feeling that must be!
I have been seeing so many posts about HoC and have been avoiding it, but I think I need to take the plunge. Way too many people are raving about it and I am officially missing out!
I think I am as excited as you are a bout Spring! I bought my indoor seedling system and planting supplies last night and I think everyone was looking at me like crazy, but I don’t care! I cannot wait to do get outside!
Have a Great weekend!
Heather
Hey, I’ve done that before too. Replacing your frames or prescription can be expensive! We are only on the 3rd episode of HOC, but it’s already got me loving the series. The pilot is a bit slow, but I promise it picks up! Enjoy the outdoors 🙂
M @ The Sequin Notebook
Those Firmoos look adorable on you – great pick! I’ve never tried macadamia milk, but recently jumped on the cashew milk bandwagon, so I’ll definitely have to give it a try! And that Coconut yogurt and ice cream is a staple in my house because my son is allergic to milk and I actually like it even better than real ice cream! Hope you have a great weekend! xoxo
Heather
Thank you! I like cashewmilk as well. Glad to hear you are a fan of the “ice cream” too!
J @ A Hot Southern Mess
I am going to have to try that GF cookie dough fro-yo! I have never heard of them, but am now on the hunt thanks to you! Thanks for hosting the link up too!
Heather
Thanks so much for linking up! I think you would love it!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Hi Heather! Glad you’re enjoying House of Cards — we are into season three right now, and it continues to twist and turn! And I LOVE your hair that color, totally funny you’re an example shot floating around the Internet. Enjoy your warming up weather. Happy Friday!
Heather
Glad to hear it just keeps getting better! Thanks. I would rock it out again if I felt like paying for hair again. I’ve been riding the natural color for about 3 months now… it’s slowly fading into some type of ombre, but I’m okay with it! Ha. Have a great weekend!
Jessie @ Just Jessie
I love those new glasses!!
Strength and Sunshine
Swooning over Macadamia milk! Yummm!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
I adore your new glasses! They are super cute on you. I’m in need of some new glasses, so I may have to check out this site – sounds like some great deals!
Macademia nut milk?!?! Wow, that sounds right up my alley. They need to get that in Phoenix!
I totally feel you on The House of Cards. Cody has been trying to get me to watch it for months now, and i finally gave in last week…now I’m totally hooked!! I didn’t think I’d love it because of the political nature of it, but it’s really sucked me in.
Heather
I felt the same way about Scandal. I don’t really follow politics, but I am still able to enjoy the political nature of the show. (Well, both of them!) Have a great weekend, Ashley!
Annette Perkins (@FitnessPerks)
Cute glasses!!
And those Friday funnies totally had me busting up laughing! haha 🙂
Ellen
Your glasses look great! And I’d love to try that SoDelicious! I love all things cookie dough. And ice cream 😉 Can you taste the coconut?
Ange @ Cowgirl Runs (@cowgirlruns)
I love those glasses – I’ve heard some really great things about Firmoo!
Macademia nut milk?! I need to find this! I love macademia nut butter, so I imagine the milk would be just as delicious 🙂
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
Love the So Delicious Coconut Ice Cream too! Chocolate and Green Tea are my favorite flavors. Have a great weekend!
Heather
Yum, I have yet to try a Green Tea coconut milk ice cream. That sounds delicious!
Emma @ Life's A Runner
I am beyond obsessed with cookie dough ice cream, so I can’t wait to try the So Delicious version! I actually gave up on House of Cards right at the beginning – it just wasn’t doing it for me for some reason. But I’ve been spending way too much time watching Grey’s Anatomy, so I don’t really need another show anyway! Have an awesome Friday! 🙂
Heather
Grey’s Anatomy is one of my all time favs! I record and watch it every Thursday or Friday night! <3
Amy M4gic
Ohmygosh, those poor babies sitting in pumpkins!
And I’ve never tried macadamia nut milk, but I HAVE had homemade hazelnut milk in a latte before which was unsurprisingly delicious. Thanks for hosting one of my favorite linkkups, Heather. Have a great weekend!
Heather
Oh yum, that sounds delicious! Thank you for linking up, Amy! I hope you have an awesome weekend!
cleaneatingveggiegirl
So Delicious makes the BEST coconut milk ice cream ever!!! Also, I am loving the frames. They look super cute on you!
Brie @ Lean, Clean, & Brie
I am so looking forward to coming back home to the warm weather when I get back on Sunday! I have heard it has been so nice this week, and after spending the past week in Alaska, I could use some warmth!!
Lauren
That So Delicious cookie dough ice cream is my FAVE. SO good. I’ll check out Firmoo, I’m always looking for cheaper glasses!
Courtney
That last photo! LOL
Heather
Right? So accurate. So great. 😉
