Hi friends, and a very Happy Friday to you!
I hope you had a great week and are gearing up for a weekend full of fun, relaxing, or a little bit of both. (<- those are always the best!) Scott and I have what is shaping up to be a great one on deck. There are no set plans (that I know of) on the horizon tonight, but I have a bachelorette outing tomorrow followed by a day to catch up at home on Sunday.
In an effort to help today go by a little faster, let’s talk about some of the highlights from the week with Friday Favorites. I enjoy seeing what you have been loving too, so please feel free to play along and join in on the comments section and link-up at the bottom!
Friday Favorites #95: Week of 6/26
• short & sweaty circuit workouts
I have been turning to quick and effective circuit workouts more and more lately. I have been keeping particularly busy this week, and I usually have about a thirty minute window to fit in my own workouts on my breaks at the gym.
I’ve always preached that 15 or 20 minutes of exercise is better than no exercise, and I stand by my theory that you can get a lot done in just a few minutes if you have a plan. I turned to an old 15 minute total body circuit workout yesterday, and I was thankful for the speedy motivation that was ready to go.
Here is the workout, just in case you’re in need of a good one later today!
By the way, you can easily reference and print out any workouts I share on the blog by simply right clicking them and saving them to your computer desktop. Just make sure to end the photo title in .jpg for it to save in the correct format!
Here are a few more I have been turning to in a pinch:
» Do Anywhere Core Circuit Workout
» 20 Min. Plyometric Circuit Workout
» Dumbbell (At-Home) Circuit Workout
• getting over my fear of guns & learning how to shoot
Something pretty epic happened on our trip last week…
Guns have always been a touchy subject for me. Growing up in Orlando, I didn’t see a real rifle face-to-face (or, in hand) until I met Scott. Truthfully, it freaked me out even knowing he had access to one in our condo!
When we moved up to Michigan, firearms became more common, and I finally started accepting that people have licenses to carry them around.
With the knowledge of a gun in our home, I eventually took Scott up on his offer to take me to a gun range to practice shooting shortly after I moved in with him. Gosh, was I terrified. The power and kickback I experienced from some of them really freaked me out, and I didn’t want to be anywhere near the loud noises or bullets flying about. I vowed never to go again!
As you might guess, the woods of Missouri are a little different than the suburbs in Florida. Most of Scott’s family includes serious hunters, and his dad has an impressive collection of weapons at home for protection!
Somehow, he and Scott not only convinced me to watch them practice target shooting, but they also got me to shoot several rounds.
I can’t say that I’ll be the one to initiate going to a gun range any time soon, but it’s nice to know that I’m not completely horrified by the thought anymore. On some strange level, I felt like I was actually getting the hang of it!
• Adrean & Airity’s Wedding
The night before we left, Scott and I attended his nephew’s wedding at the beautiful Creekwood Gardens in Rogers, Arkansas.
While the temperature was hotter than comfortable, it was a beautiful set up and night celebrating the bond of a strong young love!
Something that really made me smile was their wedding cake. Scott’s step-mom, Kay, made it! Isn’t she talented?
We spent the night before and day of watching and her assemble it. It was a neat process to see!
As predicted, Scott tore up the dance floor at the reception, and I joined in from time to time. Eventually, I was able to get him over to snap a quick photo in front of this adorable chalkboard backdrop.
That was my favorite detail of the entire wedding! While we aren’t standing directly center, I thought the frame for pictures was a fantastic idea. I loved the passage and verse on the sides and the cursive last name that also happened to be ours in the middle.
Congratulations, Adrean & Airity!
• time with Scott’s family
Scott and I always expect to spend most of our trip driving whenever we go home to visit his old stomping grounds. His family is spread out all over Northwest Arkansas and Southwest Missouri, so it’s a treat to see them all in one place while we are there.
I didn’t take half as many photos as I should have of everyone, but I was able to catch Scott with his step-dad and nephew. It was so great seeing y’all!
• this trick for baggy tanks
Seriously… why have I never done this?
Or this?
I found these ideas while perusing on Pinterest earlier this week. How clever!
• long summer days
I can’t believe how long the days have been at home in Michigan lately. The sun has been rising before 6 a.m. and setting after 9 p.m. over the past week or so. How awesome is that?
I got home from the gym after 9 p.m. last night, and I took this photo in front of our house after a fifteen minute walk with Roadie around the neighborhood.
I have absolutely been loving and taking advantage of the extra hours of daylight outside!

Summer themed, because, hey, it’s officially Summer this week!
(Well, this isn’t really Summer…)
(… but I legitimately laughed out loud.)
Nailed it. #Michiganweather
(That day in March killed me. So true!)
Your Turn
Have a great weekend!

I feel like that pie chart is the opposite of the weather here! I get excited if I see the high is 70 or lower (like 69) and I can wear my “winter” clothes.
Heather
Ha, sounds like my mom! She’s coming to visit next week and made sure to tell me she was packing her jeans for the “cooler” days in the mid-70s. That sounds crazy to me after living up here for close to 3 years!
renaissancerunnergirl
That wedding looks GORGEOUS! I have always dreamed of getting married outdoors under a beautiful summer sun, and even if hot, it just is so picturesque 🙂
Heather
Oh gosh, it WAS hot! But, you’d never know in the pictures. The ones they took turned out gorgeous!
My Year in the Making
Holy crap that T-Shirt hack though!!! I’m gonna have to take some scissors to a good bit of my too-big t-shirts this weekend 🙂
And that guinea pig made my day.
Heather
Haha, I’m so glad to hear it got someone else too. 😉 Happy Weekend!
Heather @Fit n Cookies
Wow! His step mom is amazing. That cake is BEAUTIFUL! Does she typically do cakes? I also love the background for pictures. It’s different from a photo booth but more elegant and grown up (maybe?) which I love! I went to a gun range a few years ago for valentine’s day, haha. I loved it! I won’t be getting a gun anytime soon but it was a fun experience.
Heather
Yes, she has a little side business for baking cakes! I’m so amazed by her talent. Thanks for stopping by!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
That little hamster meme is adorably funny! I love those. And I love wedding cake. How awesome that she made it. I bet you and Scott are fun on the dance-floor … hahahha! Happy Friday, Heather! Enjoy your weekend! 🙂
Heather
Haha, oh we’re a treat! 😉 Thanks so much for linking up!

That cake is amazing. She is so talented! I’m getting married in October and will definitely use that as inspiration! Thanks for sharing!
Heather
Congrats!! Enjoy the process of planning your special day. <3 As stressful as it was, I miss those days!
Annette Perkins (@FitnessPerks)
What a beautiful outdoor wedding & cake! Wow! She is really crazy talented. I have no talent like that, haha.
Have a good weekend!

The wedding looks so cute! And I totally agree with you about those summer nights. I love it when the days feel like they last forever. 🙂

That trick for baggy tanks is life changing!
And I love that chalkboard wedding frame. I have a friend getting married next summer so I might have her steal the idea 😉
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
I love that chalk board! I have never seen anything like it. Beautiful cake too. There’s nothing like a good wedding cake. 🙂 Happy Friday and have a lovely weekend!

Happy Friday! Love the chalkboard back drop at his nephew’s wedding. Such a great idea! The cake turned out amazing. http://winksandeyerolls.blogspot.com/2015/06/friday-favorites_26.html

I love short workouts! Seriously, 30 minutes is all you need for strength training (well, depending on your goals). These are great workout ideas – pinning for later!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
You look like a natural target shooter! 😉 Both my stepdad and dad are big hunters, so I’ve always grown up with guns and going to the range. Glad you ended up enjoying it!
I, too, am loving these longer days! Yay for summer!
Thanks for the link-up and enjoy your weekend! xo

Omg that riding dirty hampster!! haha And what a beautiful wedding!

You always find the best funnies! I love the Rollin Hamster! Have a great weekend!
Karen
OMG those friday funnies are awesome! “They Hatin” totally made me laugh out loud! I am loving the trick for the tank tops…I wish I had seen this before, why didn’t I think of this?!?! Ha!
Heather
Right?? What the heck have I been doing all these years? lol
Chris
I am going home and cutting up my baggy tank tops NOW! Never thought of doing that! The wedding looks beautiful! I am off to a wedding this weekend and excited to get dressed up!

Visiting from a link up.
These short workouts look like a great solution for not having time and having a toddler. I usually go for a walk to get some exercise. I’ve always wanted to learn how to shoot a gun for safety reasons, but so far never have.

Sabrina @ Nutritiously Sweet
I totally agree! Pregnancy has caused me to do 20-35min workouts (unless its a yoga class or barre), when before during bodybuilding I’d take 45mins to an hour +! I am not sure if I am going to return back to that, I like the short quickies 🙂

Ah! I have been to a friend’s wedding recently at Creekwood Gardens! It is a gorgeous setting. We considered it for our own wedding coming up, my fiance and I, but I think we might have our wedding at a beautiful place in Springdale, AR.
Heather
It’s gorgeous!! It was hot, though. I would definitely recommend some covered tents for a summer wedding outdoors!
