I laughed SO hard this weekend my cheeks hurt, literally.
My friend and old college room mate Kathryn came into town and my other room mate and bridesmaid, Katie made sure there was plenty of activities to keep her entertained.
Improv Orlando
Friday night we got an invite from our friend Kristen to see a comedy show at Improv Orlando. I didn’t know who we were going to see or where they were from, but I was all about seeing live stand-up with a group of friends.
We started the night at Adobe Gila’s at Pointe Orlando. I didn’t get a chance to eat while we were there, but I remember the food being muy delicioso the last time Scott and I went.
While walking over to Improv, I realized this was my first live comedy show in Orlando. I’ve been to 2 comedy shows before, but they were both in New York. Without too many expectations, I was ready to laugh and have a good time.
A very funny Carmen Vallone hosted the show, and it was refreshing to actually enjoy the opening acts. The last comedy show host Scott and I saw thought he was funny…but wasn’t. Maybe we’re harsh critics, but I feel like some people let out a few courtesy laughs, just to avoid hearing crickets that night at the Comic Strip.
Luckily, Carmen was hysterical and I enjoyed him just as much as the main act, Orny Adams. You might recognize Orny as Coach Bobby Finstock from the MTV series Teen Wolf. I had no idea who or what that was, but that didn’t really matter. His material was incredible and I was laughing the entire time.
That’s us after the show with Orny (on the left) and Carmen (on the right).
Why do we have scary nocturnal cat eyes? Two reasons: Scott took my nice camera with him to Australia, and this is what happens when taking a photo with a flash on an iPhone at night.
Does anyone else have this problem?! How can such a great phone take beautiful, perfectly clear photos during the day time and once the sun goes town turn into…well…blurs of crap?
Any photography app suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
I made it a point to tell Carmen I really enjoyed the show, and how he was a fantastic host. I told him about my last experience at a comedy show and I could tell my words meant a lot to him, since he’s originally from New York. I have no problem whatsoever giving feedback or paying someone a compliment on a job well done, especially when it’s their profession.
To finish the night off, the laughs continued at Señor Frogs Restaurant Bar off of International Drive. I had only been to this place in the Bahamas, and was excited to see it pop up here in Florida.
The music was good, the balloon hats were fun, and the comical artwork (and bar stools) were great.
I guess that cat’s out of the bag now… thanks a lot Señor Frogs.
Cleaning Machines
I woke up Saturday morning to two things… one glorious cup of coffee.
…and one not so glorious collection of cleaning supplies.
Sorry if that second one blinded you or made you cringe. That’s exactly what I felt like waking up to a messy house. Around 11:30am I got to scrubbing, cleaning our entire house from top to bottom. I worked a complete 8 hours only stopping twice: once to walk Roadie, and once to make this.
Trying to use up what’s in the fridge, I made a whole wheat turkey and pepper jack cheese wrap with fresh spinach, pickles and black olives. Scott and I both LOVE pickles, and I cut up one of the jumbo ones for the wrap, leaving the rest to enjoy on the side with a good portion of low-fat cottage cheese. Does anyone else buy those ridiculously large jars of dill pickles? Please say yes.
After lunch, it was back to cleaning I went. Don’t worry Roadie, I got this.
Cali, on the other hand was ready and willing to help. She’s an excellent window cleaner and helps us clean them on a daily basis. Video is proof below:
Um… is this normal? I’m not quite sure. We have some pretty funny animals roaming around here.
By the time I was finished cleaning, I was exhausted and ready to turn in for the night. Call me a grandma all you want, but a shower, pajamas and bed sounded like the perfect Saturday night to me.
I caught a re-peat of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Katy Perry, and since it’s a rare occasion that I’m actually home to watch it, I did. About half way through the episode, there was a video from her – not part of the repeat – announcing she’s pregnant… and it’s not Russel Brand’s.
I guess she was trying to upstage Beyonce’s pregnancy reveal at the VMAs this year.
What, you didn’t hear about this?
Okay…okay… April Fools! Did playing a day late throw you off at all?
(I just cant get enough of these someecards lately.)
Hope you had a funny weekend!

Any funny things your pets do to make you laugh?
Have you ever been to a live comedy show?

Just found your blog. Your cat is so cute! Animals do the funniest things. The last time I went to a comedy show, I left never wanting to go back. Don’t mean to sound like a prude, but the F bomb was dropped one too many times.

Hi Lenor, thanks! I love her…they do some crazy things…so look out for more Pet Funnies in the future.
I know what you mean about the F bomb. Sometimes it’s a little too much for me. My favorite comedians are ones who can be funny without dropping bombs every few words.
