Well folks, the day has come.
The countdowns are over, the celebrations have been had, and the goodbyes have been said. Today, Scott and leave life as we know it in Orlando, Florida for a new chapter up north. And, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t tearing up a little as I type this…
Gulp.
The thought of leaving everything behind and starting over is a little scary. Scary, yet exciting at the same time. For over a year, Scott and I have been through a lot for a newlywed couple. With the loss of Scott’s job, we definitely had periods of worry, stress, frustrations, and uncertainties as the months went by.
After a little over fourteen months, an opportunity in Detroit surfaced, we jumped on it and we haven’t turned back since.
Today, the reality of taking that next step sets in!
Living in Florida my entire life, it is very sad for me to see our car all packed up and ready to head out to the open road. As we say our goodbyes, I know the realness of living in another state will not set in for another days, or even weeks. Today, my friends, we become Michigan residents… and the actual thought is so surreal.
I knew I would be a little emotional today, and I know the worse is not over. I am sure as we leave our parents’ neighborhood and head out for the final time, the water works are going to flow. Oh boy.
Condo Tour
Because I did not want this post to be a sad one, I have included a quick tour of our condo I have lived in for the past two years, and Scott for six.
We loved this place. Besides having to take an elevator up to the eighth floor and back every time we wanted to let Roadie out, it was perfect for us, and we are going to miss it.
I haven’t really included much about where we live on the blog thus far, but since we are no longer residents I guess my secret is safe with you all. Just a few stoplights off of I4, Scott and I lived in a condo in Metrowest Orlando. Stopping by just to finish a few touches, yesterday was the day to say goodbye, and I thought it would be fun to shoot a little video.
Well, as fun at saying goodbye to anything can be!
It is always hard to say goodbye…
It did not take me long to drop the camera and get on the floor with these two crazy boys. Gosh, I just love them so much!
Well… I guess this is it. Goodbye, sweet condo. You have served us well!
Goodbye, Orlando
Last night we had the pleasure of meeting up with some of our dearest friends we met in Orlando. Some date back all the way to high school, where as others had become like family just over the past year or so.
I will be sure to post more about our final farewell later on, but for now I will leave you all with a photo of us on top of the Amway Center. As we said our last goodbyes, we took photos overlooking the city, just as we once had in our engagement photos a few years ago.
Orlando is where I grew up. Orlando is where Scott and I met. Orlando is where we got married, and Orlando is where my family still remains.
Goodbye, wonderful, scorching hot (I really am going to miss that!), fun Orlando. You will certainly be missed.
All right, time to hit the road! See you all in Michigan!!!

Safe travels up to Detroit as you embark on your new life up there! Hope you come to visit us soon 🙂
Heather
Thanks Victoria! I hope to make it back to Orlando by the end of the year. I’ll have to keep a lookout for any CFLBlogger meetups I can sneak into 😉
Xiomara @ Parkesdale
So excited for this new chapter in your life. The good thing is you still have family and friends in Orlando, so a quick visit will be easy. 🙂
Heather
Thanks Xiomara! Yes, that is the good thing. I’m hoping to make a visit down before the end of the year.

Your husband is funny – I wanna makeout! I feel like mine would say something like that too haha. Like yesterday, he called me on his way home and I said that I would probably be in bed when he got home and he said “ooo, hello!” I was like “no Tyler, I’ll be sleeping” lol
Your place looked amazing. I know you’ve already moved, but I really do love being in Florida, too!! Although, I just vacation there, and deal with Canada during the winter…it sucks! haha
Heather
Haha, funny (and embarrassing) a lot of the time! Your husband would probably get along with mine just fine, lol.
Thanks! I really enjoyed my time there. I am definitely going to miss that view at our place up north, but I guess I’ll take the deck, garage, and backyard instead. Ahh! I bet Canada is even harder to deal with – although, we are very close!
