Holy moly… it is really already the 10th of January? I feel like 2013 is already flying by!
As last year comes to a close and a new year begins, it is only natural reflect on everything that happened during that time. For us, 2012 was a complete whirlwind of emotions! With the loss of Scott’s job, then the gain of a new one, we encountered a lot of ups and downs.
So much has changed for us, including where we call home. I could get into an entire recap of the year, but instead I decided to share a simple survey.
It’s a easy twenty question survey that asks a few serious and a few silly questions. Whatever the focus, it forced me to take a step back and think about where we have been and what is in store for our future together in 2013.
If you would like to join in and complete a survey of your own, feel free to copy this one and change the answers to yours. If you do, send me the link because I would love to see how you answer!
Here we go…
New Year Survey
1. What was the best part of last year?
Getting the news of Scott accepting a job in the career he loves. For a while we weren’t sure what was going to happen!
2. What was the worst part of last year?
Saying goodbye to our family and friends in Orlando, Florida.
3. What was the biggest surprise of last year?
Getting invited to dance on court in the NBA again!
4. What are you most looking forward to next year?
Seeing where the future takes us. A lot can change within a year’s time and I am anxious to see where we are and what we are doing.
5. Is there anything you are not looking forward to next year?
Turning 28. No… actually I’m okay with it. Scratch that… Scott turning 40! Let’s just say there will be no “Over the Hill” decorations.
6. Which new years resolutions did you keep last year?
Be early, not on time.
7. Which new years resolutions did you break last year?
Complete two half marathons. Our move up north royally set me back on scheduling the second!
8. What will be your new years resolutions next year?
Be positive and encouraging, even when it’s challenging.
9. Which resolution are you most likely to break?
Giving up soda (or pop, to Michigan folks). I just can’t shake my craving for the occasional Diet Coke.
10. Which resolution are you most likely to keep?
Complete half marathons #2 and #3. Seriously – I’m doing it!
11. What did you do for new years eve?
We had a few friends over to ring in the New Year. It was fun! 🙂
12. Who were you with on new years eve?
My husband, and our friends in Michigan.
13. What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
Drove (and lived) in the snow! Believe me, it is like learning to drive alllll over again.
14. What was the best song of last year?
This is a hard one. I have so many favorites! I’m going to go with “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepson. The song and that Harvard Baseball Team cover video still make me smile!
15. What was the best TV show of last year?
New Girl! Hands down. Schmidt kills me, and I am growing quite fond of Nick quotes…
“If you were a hat, you’d be a top hat. But like a really big Monopoly one. And I say that with deepest compliments.”
16. What was the best book you read last year?
Heaven Is For Real by Todd Burpo. Amazing story!
17. What was the best film of last year?
Umm…. Magic Mike. For the choreography, of course. Don’t judge me!
18. What change would you like to make to your life next year?
Make more TO-DO lists and stay on top of them. Get organized!
19. What change would you like to see in the world next year?
Using social networking in a positive way. I would love to see more encouragement and less negative statuses about politics, sports teams. The personal attacks got a little out of hand, friends.
20. Do you think 2013 will top 2012?
I’m going to go ahead and say yes. I can’t knock 2012… but given that our entire lives literally up and moved, it feels like we have the fresh start we were hoping for. Instead of spending the year wondering “what’s next?” we are finally living it. For that, I think the years will only get better!
So there you have it… twenty questions of reflection and prediction. No matter where you are or what you are doing, I hope you get to stop for a minute and take some time to reflect on what 2013 might look like for you.
Happy Thursday!
Sarah
2012 was a whirlwind indeed! you and your husband seem to have such a strong relationship – I’m sure you two could get through anything and still come out on top with smiles on your faces!…and maybe even doing a goofy choreographed dance together!
I am still going to judge you for the Magic Mike remark. c’mon. seriously??
Heather
