Katie’s Savannah Bachelorette: Part II

Good Afternoon! Today is moving right along at the Hesington household. Some kind of pep got in my step this morning because I am knockin’ things off of the to-do list left and right. Watch out, world!

On with my productive mood, I felt like popping back in to share the rest of my weekend in Savannah with you! Just in case you missed it, I posted all about Day One of Katie’s Bachelorette Weekend yesterday. Let’s keep the party going, shall we?

Katie’s Savannah Sweeties: Day 2

After a fun night out, we were all looking forward to sleeping in and having some quality pajama time Sunday morning. I was actually one of the last to arise a little after 9 a.m. and joined the rest of the girls in the kitchen for coffee and bagels.

We spent the next hour or so chatting in the living room, catching up on life and wedding plans. It reminded me of the weekend mornings I used to spend with Katie in our apartment at college!

Eventually, we all got moving and dressed to take on a full day of exploring.

One happy bride with nine matching “bachelorettes” in tow walked over to Franklin Street for a quick bite to eat before our first activity.

We didn’t have much time to stop, so we ended up grabbing a slice of pizza the size of our heads at VinnieVanGoGo. Literally though… the slice I loaded with veggies (mushrooms, banana peppers, green peppers, black olives, and tomatoes) – left – was the size of my head.

I love adding an obnoxious amount of toppings to pizzas, mainly for flavor, but *fun fact* doing this also limits the amount of cheese added… which, in turn, makes it “healthier.” (<- Longest sentence ever? Ha.) It was so, so delicious!

As we finished up, we had to say goodbye to Christie who needed to get back on the road to Tallahassee. Even if it was just for a night, I was so happy to see her!

And with that, we loaded up onto our giant pedal bike for our Savannah Slow Ride Tour, led by tour guide, Ed!

Savannah Slow Ride Bike Tour

I had never been on a (wo)man-powered tour bike before and will for sure be doing it again if I ever get the chance. One of these can hold up to fifteen people and the speed is completely controlled by your party. There is a driver steering and directing, but for the most part everyone seated does the brunt of the work!

The best part of it all (besides the sights, of course) was getting to play our own music and keeping our cups full with frequent rest stops at various bars.

We all had such a great time on the slow ride. Our tour guide was very informative with historic knowledge and stories along the way too.

I loved seeing the horse and buggies, trollies and estate houses!

The entire tour lasted about two hours long and we were all sad to see it come to an end. On foot, we continued our sight seeing by walking riverside.

En route to our next stop, we stumbled upon a few shops that kept us distracted for a while. As a native Floridian, I had to snap a few photos for my northern friends to truly understand “my people.”

Yup. That pretty much sums it up, ya’ll. 😉

Our last stop of the afternoon was a return to where we had dinner the night before. This time, however, we had a destination of Rocks on the Roof to catch the sunset.

The views were stunning and we all felt so cozy sitting fireside cuddled up with fuzzy blankets the restaurant provided. (<- 1,000 cool points for that.)

Before long, it was time to make our way back to the house to get ready for dinner and a surprise outing for the bride.

Dinner at Jazz’d Tapas

I had only heard great things about the restaurants the girls in charge of the trip picked out. Three of them had been to Savannah before and knew exactly where to go and what to do. Excited for a good meal, the group of us walked over to our reservation at Jazz’d Tapas Bar.

I loved the modern look of it and saw a band setting up to play live music. Fun little spot!

Like other tapas restaurants, our server recommended ordering at least two items off the menu to feel satisfied. These tapas portions were a little larger than the standard appetizer, which I think everyone appreciated.

I ended up going with a spring mix salad and jalapeno BBQ shrimp and grits.

(spring mix, candied walnuts, feta cheese, and cherry tomatoes, tossed with honey-balsamic vinaigrette)

Both dishes, along with bites of others I tried as well were incredible! I highly recommend this restaurant for those visiting the Savannah area.

We wrapped up dinner with just enough time to catch a cab over to our surprise outing. Without giving too much away, we had an absolute blast letting go of our inhibitions while brushing up on our dance moves!

Laughing our heads off for the remainder of the night, we enjoyed our final hours in the house together before hitting our pillows. We woke up early the next morning to get the house back in order and I had a cab ready to take me to the airport at 9 a.m. Monday.

After a weekend of girl time and celebrating, it was really hard to say goodbye to some of my best friends. I really do miss them on an every day basis and can’t wait until my next trip down to see them for the wedding.
