Confession: For the past few months I have forgotten everything that happens on Tuesdays to concentrate on Wedding Wednesdays.
I usually have a great Tuesday filled with different topics I could write about, but they usually get forgotten about and brushed under the rug.
Poor little ‘ol Tuesdays.
I spent this Tuesday night with some lovely, smart, creative women who make up the Central Florida Lady Bloggers.
Last March I attended my first-ever blogger meet up. It was with the same organization, but filled up with a different set of faces. Each month, the CFLB hosts a meeting to chat about life, blogging, success stories, advice and anything else pertaining to the writing and photo documenting world.
This week, Katy moderated the group discussion about Technology. What a broad – but awesome – topic that was!
For those of you who don’t know (or even think about it), blogging isn’t just documenting pictures of food and attaching an opinion to it… there are hours and hours spent a week – sometimes daily – going straight into the back-end.
As a blogger, it is your responsibility to provide a site your readers want to follow and come back to. There are plenty of analytic trackers, plug-ins, widgets, affiliate sites and stat counters to download and sign up for, and it’s important to understand exactly what goes where, who gets here, and how it happened.
Did I lose you yet? I know… me too.
Being relatively new in the blogging world, I still have a lot to learn. Luckily, this group of women makes it easier.
From photography and DIY projects to social media and styling, there is always an array of topics we blog about. If you’re ever looking for quality reading material, here is a list of great women and blogs to follow:
Aimee – Happy Medium
Andi – Andi Mans Photography
Andrea – Run, Eat, Date, Sleep
Jackie – MomJovi Blog
Katy – katywidrick.com
Kristina – Love and Zest
Luisa – Lui’s Alluring Design
Marilyn – Forkful, A Handle on Orlando
Tylar – Ty Style Me
Great seeing you all and I look forward to meeting again soon!
Glamour Green Smoothie
Over the past few weeks, I have attempted to make bright and equally delicious green smoothie. I’ve seen pictures of them, heard friends rave about them and have been wanting to create my own version for quite some time. If you’ve never seen a green smoothie, don’t be alarmed, they taste better than they look. Promise.
By using fruits and vegetables, your body gets more fuel and nutrition, leaving the “spinachy green” taste behind.
My first green smoothie attempt was not the greatest. The ingredients were there, but my portions were way off. This time I started off with a cup of spinach, a half a cup of kale, six frozen strawberries, 1 kiwi, 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt, and 1/2 cup orange juice.
It tasted fine, but I wasn’t satisfied with the color. If I’m going to have a green smoothie – I want it to be green!
So I went a little spinach crazy… I added a pinch, blended, added another pinch, blended and repeated this process until I got this:
By doubling the amount of spinach, it was the perfect amount of two cups.
It’s a keeper!
You can tell I am excited about something when I take a photo of myself drinking or eating it. Successfully making a true to its name green smoothie is an accomplishment for me, so I fully give myself permission to do so.
Go ahead, knock yourself out… I challenge you to make one for yourself.
Question
What’s in your green smoothie?

Heather, thank you so much for the shout-out! Your smoothie looks delicious. I’ve been experimenting with a few variations of that myself. 🙂

I love green smoothies with protein powder, spinach, avocado, and berries, so good! Jealous of your blogger meetups, I haven’t met any bloggers where I live
Heather
Great suggestions, Lisa! I’ll definitely have to try adding avocado. Have you ever thought of starting up your own Lady Blogger meet-ups? I’m sure there are women out there just like you! Where do you live?
Vanessa
Hi Heather! I’m so glad I stumbled across your blog because I never knew about the central florida lady bloggers meetup. I’m also excited to try that smoothie (minus the yogurt as I’m vegan) Thanks for sharing!
Heather
Hi Vanessa! So I’m assuming you live in Orlando? FUN! Check out the FB page and like it for updates, but the next meeting will be July 11th. Hope to see you there! 🙂
Vanessa
I do live in Orlando. I hope to make it, thanks!
