A big HELLO this Tuesday! It has been one heck of a weekend celebrating Easter, followed by a ridiculous joke holiday we all know as April Fool’s.
In the spirit of the holiday (and trying to retaliate after Scott got me good), I posted a BIG NEWS announcement on HWG’s Facebook Page yesterday. I credited Scott’s consult work to getting us a permanent gig overseas in Australia to be the mascot of their Aussie Rules Football team.
Did any of you fall for it? Hehehe… sorry… April Fools!
😉
Little Things
There was a lot of excitement paired with a lot of lounging this weekend. Instead of trying to catch you up on everything that happened in the last four days, I am just going to stick to the highlights. Here are the little things that made my weekend!
1. Detroit Pistons 90’s Night
As you probably know, I spend a lot of my nights and weekends dancing for the Detroit Pistons! Friday was themed 90’s Night, and we got to dress in our 90’s best to honor it.
Ohhhh the memories of outfits, music, and television shows.
We had a few fun themed dance routines and a few special guests including Luke Perry (<- dying!) and Color Me Badd for halftime. Was anybody else as obsessed with the bad boy of 90210 as I was? If only he could see me swooning from the opposite side of the court… 😉
2. Cat Apartments
Scott and I ran a few errands Saturday before enjoying a sunny (but still chilly) afternoon. One important stop was at Petco and had me quite entertained.
We have been wanting to get a cat tower for the girls for a while, and finally bit the bullet and ordered one. Below is not the one we chose – however – can you please take a look at how it is described on the label?
We were really looking for a three bedroom/two bath apartment, but this condo could have worked in a pinch. (What?)
After buying new collars for the entire gang, we ended up checking out with a few vital extras in our cart.
I’m pretty sure our neighbors will not be coming over for cookies and milk anytime soon. Don’t let the sweet face fool you… Roadie is one protective pup to the unknown!
To keep him more entertained at home throughout the day, we also left with a Kong Wubba. These things are supposed to be indestructible and he is loving it so far! I especially enjoy how it has a quiet squeak and dangly straps I can get a good grip on when playing with him. Win!
3. The Village
This week was the first time Scott and I ventured out to The Village of Rochester Hills.
It is an adorable strip of shops, boutiques, and restaurants right down the road from where we live. As we walked the street, we couldn’t help but to notice the funky art on the ground.
Pretty neat!
We had a window of time to fill before Easter service, so we took a break from the chill outside at Hepburn’s Crêpe & Coffee. (Don’t let Scott’s shorts and sandals fool you… it was still very windy, and he is crazy!)
Scott and I both ordered chai tea latte’s, his iced and mine hot. Seconds later, I heard him ordering a crêpe, so I did the same. I got the Humprey which was filled with nutella, marshmallow fluff and crushed crêpe chips.
That was dinner!
To be honest, both our coffee and crêpes were just okay, and in my opinion not quite worth the calories. Bummer… you win some, you lose some.
4. Easter Services + Attire
With a little more time to spare, we decided to run home and put a few more layers on. Scott thought it would be funny to ask me if this would be approved to wear…
(Speaking of 90’s!)
My husband. Always the jokester.
Appropriately dressed, we arrived at the church we have been attending called Kensington. They have a few campuses in our area, and even one down in Orlando!
We are always impressed by their creative arts department and nothing was different this Easter! How cool is their stage backdrop?
To get an idea of what campus we want to call our new church home, we tried out two different locations: one Saturday night and one on Easter Sunday.
Both times we managed to match in color, which was totally unplanned and a little embarrassing. (Who would have guessed Scott was downstairs in mint? Really?!) 😉
Each service had the same backdrop, videos and overall message, and we will be happy to return to either campus.
It felt so good to get back to services again.
5. Easter Day
Back in Orlando, Scott and I attended a sunrise Easter service every year at Sea World. This year, we did not have a sunrise service to attend, and I instead tried to catch a sunrise in our neighborhood.
Eh… not quite the same as our last lake view. (<- click to check out a video tour of our Orlando condo!) Hurry upppp, summer in Michigan… we have heard some great things about you and are getting a little anxious!
While walking Roadie, Scott took it upon himself to make some delicious made-from-scratch pancakes. If you could not tell from the earlier photo, I pretty much gave myself an entire cheat weekend, and why not…
There was a wonderful reason to celebrate!
Hope you and your family had a great weekend!
