Happy Friday! First, I have a totally random question for you….
Have you ever made Grape Nuts Hot Cereal? I tried it a few months ago for the first time and forgot how much I love it, until this morning.
It’s super quick & easy to make.
1/2 cup Grape Nuts cereal (dry), 1/3 cup milk (preferably skim)
Microwave on HIGH: 30 seconds for a big crunch, 1 minute for little crunch.
Add fruit, raisins, or whatever you’d like before serving. I added a cut up banana, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a drizzle of all-natural mango honey.
And yes, my coffee cup this morning was as big as my cereal bowl! 😉
MJ + Cirque du Soleil
Last week, Scott (aka Mr. Sneaky Surpriser) told me we were going to see Michael Jackson the IMMORTAL World Tour with Cirque du Soleil. Being in entertainment, he pulled a few strings and got us into the show.
You might remember Baby Boogaloo from Future Funk, a 2 man boy dance group featured in the D12 Orlando All-Star Celebrity Game.
Scott and I had a blast with him before the show!
In my mind, MJ + Cirque du Soleil = the best show…EVER. Although I was excited, I tried not to get my hopes up too high in fear of being disappointed. When something has the word “Cirque” in it, people immediately start to swoon and assume there will be some pretty incredible talent components.
As much as I would love to say IMMORTAL was the best show ever, I thought it was really good. Not fantastic, not amazing, but really, really good.
Here’s a preview of the show I got off their website.
Take a look, then let me explain…
The music was incredible. What’s not to love about hearing 2 hours of Michael Jackson’s Greatest Hits? For that, I’ll go ahead and say that every person in the audience loved it. I saw people jamming out and having a blast from the show’s start to finish…as did we.
The show was great! Any touring Cirque show is bound to have an impressive stage, sound and effects. The live musicians were really good, the dancing was good, and the costumes and props were phenomenal – as usual.
So why am I being critical? I italicized show because there were times it felt like we were at a Michael Jackson concert. Don’t get me wrong, that is something I would have loved to have attended, and it’s certainly the closest I’ll get to being at one. My disappointment comes from the lack of overall circus performances.
Cirque is known to amaze audiences around the world with daring and dangerous circus stunts.
There were a handful of impressive acts in the show including a super sharp pop and lock break dancer, a contortionist, choreographed gymkhana (my favorite), aerialists, and even a professional pole dancer.
(You could say she was definitely a crowd favorite.)
We were dancing in our seats the entire time, and my entire row seemed to agree that we didn’t know what to expect coming in. Although we weren’t sure, something we all hoped to see was a little more “cirque.”
Do I still think the show is worth seeing? YES! The sets were amazing, the dancing was great and the music and videos were entertaining as I’ll get out…just know I stand by my review that it seemed to be missing a little bit of circus.
Even through a dead moment or two, Thriller, Bad, Beat It, and Dangerous were only a few songs that made the show!
If you get the opportunity, I encourage you to see IMMORTAL for yourself. I’d hear your thoughts!
Questions:
Have any of you seen IMMORTAL or any other themed Cirque du Soleil show?
If so, what’s your favorite?
