Hi friends! It’s currently cold and rainy outside, so it’s taking a little more motivation for me to stay motivated today.
My morning started early with a 5:30 a.m. Brawl workout a The Barre Code. Have you ever tried Brawl before? It’s an intense cardio kickboxing class that incorporates strengthening moves for the thighs, glutes, and core. I went to my very first Brawl class this morning, and I left a hot and sweaty mess!
(I’m coming to the end of my 30-day membership at the studio, so you will hear more about the different styles of workouts and my thoughts soon.)
Anyways, instead of grabbing caffeine before work this afternoon, I’m pumping myself up with some upbeat tunes. From what I’ve gathered, a lot of you enjoy when I share my personal workout playlists, so I’m here to do just that.
Below you will find what I have been rocking out to at the gym, on my runs, and even while working on the computer when I’ve had too much coffee. (Guilty.)
Here we go!
(You can stream and even download this exact playlist here.)
If you want to start with this (continued Fall) playlist, simply scroll down until you see “Lay It All On Me” and press play. I didn’t include the cool down song on this list since the complimentary version of Spotify shuffles playlists, but I am obsessed with it. (And I know I’m not alone.) #AdeleForPresident
(And, while we’re on the subject of cooling down… please don’t skip this important part of your workouts. Check out my tips on stretching if you need some ideas on how to recover after an intense workout or run.)

I am obsessing over James Bay! Especially his song, “Let It Go”! (Not to be confused with the Disney version) It’s just so good! Also love his song “Hold Back the River”!
Heather
I LOVE James Bay! Hold Back the River is one of my faves. I love Let It Go, too!
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me
I love having Hello as the cool down! What a perfect song for me to look forward to during the workout.

Girl we are playlist twins! I’m addicted to most of those songs! I haven’ t tried Brawl but away wanted to! I’ve done barredio before and liked it. The only thing i’m not so crazy about in the Barre Code–is everything is done in socks–even high impact cardio jumping–which can lead to injury–even on the carpeted floors. I found my ankles and feet aching a bit after I did the class. Also–I think it really depends on the instructor. But I’ve had really bad instructors that really don’t know form very well and never came around to correct or give form cues. And when you’re in barre–form is everything! Or it’s just a waste of time. I’m also not a fan of the dark rooms. You can’t see yourself working out. I’m curious to know about your experiences with it.
Also–when you did barre–did you add extra cardio that day or just do cardio a different day? Just curious. Thanks!
XOXO
And PS: hope you had fun in Chicago–I sent you an IG message to see if you wanted to meet up but I guess you just ignored me. That’s ok!

Hi Yaara! I liked Barre-dio, but Brawl was a lot more fun, in my opinion. I haven’t tried the HIIT class yet, but I have felt pretty comfortable in socks for the classes. We only did a few jumps in Brawl. I do have to agree with you on the corrections, though. I’ve only been to two classes where the teacher actually focused on correcting and not just getting choreography out. And yes, the rooms are dark. I think that’s just their style! My days vary with barre, depending on what my activity is like the rest of the week. Sometimes I will go for a run after barre, and other times, I save cardio for other days when I don’t take class. I guess it just depends! And, thank you for reaching out! I’m sorry I missed your message. I was truly trying to unplug and didn’t see it until I got back home!

Thank you for responding to me! I’m glad you were able to have fun and enjoy yourself.

I love Sheridan’ s song but I’ve yet not to listened to the one you’ve mentioned in your work out playlist. Listening to music at the time of work out can boost your energy and motivation a lot.

Stitches, Love Myself, and Confident have been my go to songs to play over and over again. Also backstreet boys first album has been popping up on my playlist and it is a great energy boost during a workout to hear some throwbacks.

Love it! I had a 90s boy band night theme going on in one of my classes last week and everyone had so much fun!

I love that you keep adding songs to your Fall playlist on Spotify! Since I follow that playlist it’s always a nice surprise when I get to the gym and there are new songs on there waiting to be played 🙂
Heather
Thanks for following Catherine! I always like to have a fresh batch of tunes, so I’m glad you enjoy listening to them too!

This is great! I tend to get in music ruts – I’ll definitely give this a try if my girls will stay in the gym daycare longer than 5 minutes, haha
