I’m not sure if you have been enjoying all of the NBA madness on my blog lately, but it’s certainly what Scott and I have recently been up to.
The NBA All-Star Game comes to Orlando next weekend, so I’m sure the Sports category will continue to grow. I can’t complain though. It’s been nice seeing different arenas, cities and teams “behind the scenes.”
You might have caught my posts on the Philadelphia 76ers, exploring Philly, and next on the list is a visit to New York City. Before I even get into the trip, I have to address the real story here:
New York Knicks vs L.A. Lakers…
at the Madison Square Garden.
I’d never been to any event at the Garden, so getting to see these two teams play there was pretty exciting for me. I guess you could say it was…LINSANITY (yes, the L is supposed to be there).
First off, who’s heard of Jeremy Lin?
I’m sure by now the majority of you have, followed with all of the “Lin” wordplay making its way onto Sportscenter, the radio, Twitter and Facebook.
It’s only every 5th story on ESPN these days. Avoiding exaggeration, here are the first 3 stories currently on their website:
Super Lintendo is in full effect, and somehow Scott, myself and our friend Jessica were at the right place at the right time to witness it.
A brief LINSANITY background, all information from Wikipedia.com:
Jeremy Lin is a basketball player who graduated from Harvard in 2010. He got drafted to the Golden State Warriors for the 2010-11 season, finishing his rookie NBA season averaging 2.6 points on 38.9 percent shooting in 29 games. On December 9, 2011, the Warriors waived Lin on the first day of training camp.
After playing overseas, he was traded to the Houston Rockets, played seven minutes in two preseason games and near the end of the NBA lockout, was waived again.
Eventually, he signed onto New York and they considered releasing him before his contract became guaranteed on February 10. Lin finally got a chance to play on Feb 3rd vs the Boston Celtics, and was active only 55 minutes through the Knicks’ first 23 games.
“On February 4, 2012, Lin had 25 points, five rebounds, and seven assists—all career-highs—in a 99–92 Knicks victory over the New Jersey Nets
On February 10, Lin scored a new career-high 38 points and had seven assists, leading the Knicks in their 92–85 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers”
Just for a visual, I’d like to welcome you to The Jeremy Lin Show:
Besides watching a Lincredible crowd reaction to Linsanity (ha), I also really enjoyed seeing the Knicks City Dancers.
They didn’t use poms – which is different from what I’m used to – but they had bright orange glowing sticks during intros which you can see at the beginning of the video I posted above.
Jessica’s twin sister Stephanie dances for the team, so we both enjoyed watching their routines. It’s no surprise to me that the team surrounded by Broadway in New York is made up of great dancers.
By the end of the game, we wondered where Scott wandered off to. Apparently, he slipped down to be a part of the Dance Cam. I wish I was more prepared with a video to share, because the photo I have of it is really blurry and doesn’t do him any sort of justice.
The highlight of my night might have been the guy sitting behind us asking, “What’s wrong with that guy and why is he dancing like that?”
Oh, my husband.
LINNING.
