If there’s one thing I have learned from reviewing site analytics over the past couple of months, it’s that a lot of you guys love to see fashion and especially Stitch Fix (<- affiliate link) posts pop up on the blog.
I’ll randomly peruse the “Housewife Glamour section” of Pinterest and find SO many pinned items from these Stitch Fix reviews. I choose to share every item sent to me because even if the clothing item or accessory isn’t the right fit for me, it might be right for someone else. So, for that reason, I plan to continue posting fashion recaps of my (mostly) monthly fixes for a while.
Here’s a look inside this month’s picks!
November 2014 Stitch Fix Breakdown
(Almost) every month, I receive a box of clothing and accessories hand-picked for me from Stitch Fix, an online styling service I have reviewed out of my own pocket and shared with you several times. If you are a new reader (hi friend!), you can read more about how it all works here.
Each time I get a fix, I go through the box of goodies sent to me based on my style profile and decide what to keep and what to send back.
This month’s fix included:
This Monoreno Cala Hooded Military Jacket: $68.
(with a double layer zipper and an around-the-waist tie)
(, , )
This THML Felix Short Sleeve Space Dye Knit Dress: $54.
(love the zipper detail on the back!)
(, ,, <- more casual)
This Kut From The Kloth Jonathan Corduroy Skinny Pant: $68.
I believe these are the same pair in Wild Aster, via Nordstrom!
This Skies are Blue Esmeralda Embroidered Knit Top: $48.
(embroidered with mesh details)
This Street Level Demi Fold Over Vegan Leather Crossbody Bag: $48.
(option to use the strap or leave it off for a clutch)
I have to be honest here…
I wasn’t super excited when I opened the box this time.
After specifically requesting certain inventory and styles two months in a row, I was bummed to see what my efforts resulted in. I have to give my stylist, Jessie, props for trying her best to fill similar types of requests. She acknowledged the exact items I had my eye on, and explained that they didn’t have those in stock this month. I can understand that.
That said, I was still iffy about this collection of items picked out for me. I just don’t feel like a lot of it was “me”. I had been sick of waiting for a maroon (or other fall colored) skinny jean to arrive and found my own on my last trip to Marshalls. The pair I got was $19, so the $68 maroon corduroy pants were out almost immediately.
I tried them on anyways, and paired them with the embroidered knit top. I wasn’t too fond of the design of this one, but I did like the mesh detail on the front and back.
Yeah, the detail was nice… but it felt like I was wearing a maternity top.
The fit was way too big, so that was an easy return.
Next, I threw on the military jacket, even though I knew I didn’t really need something like this in my wardrobe.
It was cute and fit like a glove. I loved the double layer zipper I mentioned earlier, and also thought the tie around the waist was a great detail. I didn’t, however, like how light the material was. I already have two extremely light jackets like this in my wardrobe and barely wear them in Michigan. Three strikes.
Last, I put on the short sleeve knit dress. It looked a lot bigger before I tried it on, so I was surprised to see how tight the fit was!
This one fit perfectly, and I thought it would look great with a pair of black or grey tights and boots, or even a pair of nude pumps to dress it up.
I thought the black crossbody bag was fun too, only I specifically requested a small brown crossbody bag. I already have a black one, so I passed on that purchase too.
Had it have been brown, however, I would have definitely kept it. Bummer.
To sum it up, I only ended up keeping one out of the five items. The knit dress felt great (if you add tights or at least put in a good effort of getting a tan), and keeping it prevented me from losing the $20 styling fee I would have otherwise had to pay for if I sent everything back.
I checked out at $34 for the dress ($54 – $20 pre-paid styling fee) which is my cheapest fix yet. I don’t really know how I feel about it.
I’m sure Scott is pleased, since that is less money I spent on clothes this month. Good news for him, but I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed. I requested specific items I have seen pop up on multiple websites and Pinterest because I had a need for that type of clothing article in my wardrobe.
The embroidered top was a total question mark. I think that was the nudge I needed to update my style profile a bit!
Stitch Fix (<- again, an affiliate link) boxes have always been a hit or miss for me. I’m sad to say this one was a miss.
Regardless, I always enjoy the service of receiving a box full of fashion surprises at my doorstep, and I can only continue to hope that they get closer and back to my type of style. Fingers crossed!

Totally agree that this was a disappointing looking fix. That top, I just don’t see that looking good on anyone. The dress however is really cute.
Heather
Thanks! I thought so too.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
The dress looks great! However, the other items were just not as good. The top would not flatter anyone either! That’s going to be a tough sell.
Heather
Hehe. I guess so!
Liz
I LOVE the dress you kept! It’s so cute!
Heather
Thank you!

I love reading Stitch Fix reviews! I like shopping too much and am kind of too picky to sign up myself but I love living vicariously through blogger reviews! That dress is so cute on you and fits perfectly, definitely a great one! But I’m with you on the other stuff especially that top- that seems like such an odd item to include!
Heather
That’s the beauty of this service… I feel like I’m shopping but don’t actually have to keep anything. 😉

That little rain jacket does look cute, but you’re right…it is hard to find a rain jacket that isn’t super light as well. I have one similar and find I can’t wear it that much because it’s not that warm. 🙁 boo!
Heather
I asked for a military jacket but was hoping for the thicker version with faux fur (i.e. warmth!) on the hood!
cleaneatingveggiegirl
What a bummer that you did not get a fix that was geared toward your requests! However, I have to say that everything looks great on you! I think you made the right call with the dress. It is gorgeous and fits perfectly.
Heather
Thank you! I’m excited to wear it.
Diane
I love the dress! It’s so pretty, and fits really well. I initially liked the shirt – the detailing is so cute, but seeing the way it was cut…not flattering. Boo! The whole fix felt a little “blah” (except for the dress). Hopefully December’s fix will be better 🙂
Heather
Yeah, I liked the details of it… I just can’t see how that fit is flattering on anybody!
cleaneatingchelsey
I love that dress on you! Super cute. I also love the skinny cords, but they were a bit pricey!
Heather
Agreed. I liked those. I just like my $19 maroon skinnies better I suppose. 😉
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
That blue dress is gorgeous on you!! I’m glad you kept it!
Heather
Me too 🙂 thanks love!
EmilyAnne
I agree the dress looked the best. The jacket I really liked also, but not real practical. Good choice! http://Www.eatallovertheworld.weebly.com
Heather
Thanks!

I’ve never tried Stitchfix but I like the concept and enjoy your pics and reviews. I love the lightweight military jacket. Cute fit and I like the color. Glad you kept the dress, looks great!
Heather
Thank you for reading them Diane!
Janelle @ WhollyHealthy
I love the dress on you!
Heather
Thank you, Janelle!

why I finally had to break up with Stitch Fix. I had two boxes in a row where they not only ignored my style profile and notes, but also sent me things they’d already sent me before that I’d either purchased or sent back. I was so bummed, bc it had always been so much fun! I hope your next box is better. The dress is adorable on you!
Heather
Oh man, that’s frustrating. Sorry to hear that!
bendiful
eh yeah those are some strange styles. I do like the dress and with cute legwear it’s totally winter wearable but the rest would cause me some serious OH NOS.

I just got my first Stitch Fix on Tuesday and am sending everything back and loosing my $20 styling fee. Everything I was sent was ill fitting and didn’t really seem to match up with my style profile and Pinterest style boards. I was so excited to get my Fix and was extremely disappointed by what I received.
Heather
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that, Tricia. I hope that your next experience is better!
Alicia
I stumbled upon your page because of Pinterest and I have to say I love your blog! I’ve looked through all your stitch fix reviews, as I am receiving my 2nd fix in just a short couple of weeks. ((YAY!!)) I noticed you live in Michgain. Can I ask where? Im from Livonia, MI and I have family scattered all around the state.
Heather
Hi Alicia, I’m so glad you found the blog! I love hearing from fellow Michiganders. We are in the Rochester Hills area!
