When I get to try something new that I really like, I become excited to share it. By now, I am thinking my friends and family are bored of hearing what products are circulating the health and fitness world, which makes me so glad to know the group of you clicking to read this actually want to hear me talk shop. (Hugs to you!)
Today, I am here with my second edition of Protein Time!
*Disclaimer: I was provided with these products by Quest Nutrition through my ambassadorship with FitFluential. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
I have been all jacked up on Mountain Dew protein lately. When I opened the box full of Quest Bars, I could not wait to dig into them and have had a bar a day ever since. Okay… fine, some days I had two. Have you noticed the flavors yet?
All intriguing!
Quest Nutrition Bars were designed to provide an easy way to enjoy the foods we love in a high protein, low carb way. Their quest is to help YOU on whatever your journey may be – whether it is losing weight, gaining muscle, or staying healthy.
Lets talk flavors.
I received their entire variety pack including:
• Cinnamon Roll: YUM.
• Apple Pie: Excuse me… delicious.
• Chocolate Peanut Butter: Expected flavor, but equally deserving to hang with the rest.
• Banana Nut Muffin: Tasted like a warmed up loaf to me!
• Strawberry Cheesecake: Dreamy.
• Mixed Berry Bliss: Hello, fruit parfait.
• Coconut Cashew: Most interesting combo award!
• Vanilla Almond Crunch: Good, but probably the least memorable.
• Chocolate Brownie: Stop it right now. SO good!
• Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough: Don’t even get me started.
• Peanut Butter Supreme: Dessert for breakfast.
And last, but certainly not least, the most unique flavor (a stand out):
• Peanut Butter & Jelly: Tastes just like Mom’s, without the crusts.
They threw in extra Chocolate Brownie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bars, since they seem to be a customer favorite. I am not going to complain!
I have seen these bars pop up on various social media sites, but had yet to try one for myself. Taking a hint from other bloggers, I listened to the suggested instructions of popping them in the microwave to enjoy warm.
A quick 20-25 seconds made a world of difference. I only tried two flavors at room temperature, which was when I was on the way out the door. Of course you can eat them this way, but why would you when a quick press of a few buttons makes them taste even more like the real food we crave? Genius!
As I was putting my bars away, I discovered something else pretty wonderful in the box: Protein Peanut Butter Cups! (You read it right… Protein. Peanut. Butter. Cups.) *Swoon*
As soon as I saw them, I put all six packages in the refrigerator. Nowhere on the package does it say to do so, but I just treated them like any other peanut butter cup I enjoy as an occasional treat. (Maybe that is the Florida girl in me? I like them cold!)
Day one, I opened a serving of two for dessert and my chocolate cravings were instantly satisfied.
Being a decent source of protein, I did not expect them to taste exactly like regular peanut butter cup patties. Instead, I went into trying it just like any new product I get: with an open mind. With everything I review, I do my best not to compare anything to anything else.
How can you? One serving of two cups racks in 20 grams of protein, with only 4 grams of active carbs and no added sugar (i.e. no “added junk”.)
I will admit that they tasted a tad dry and chalky, which seems to be a common response. That did not seem to bother me, and I just used it as an excuse to wash them down with a tall glass of skim or soy milk.
My husband, on the other hand, expects protein products to magically taste exactly the same as the original (not very good for you) version, and was disappointed with these. No harm no foul though, that just means there was more left for me! I loved them.
Overall Thoughts
It is so cool to see more and more brands create products made for anyone to indulge in. Whether you are dieting, bulking up, or just trying to keep your plate clean, it is products like this that help us stay on track.
I cannot find anything negative to say about these products. Really. I enjoyed every single bar and ran out of the peanut butter cups within the first two weeks of trying them! I would recommend them to anyone, and will without a doubt be purchasing some in the future.
If you are looking to try Quest Nutrition products for yourself, you can find them at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, online, and at other local retailers in your area. Keep a lookout for the latest news and flavors by following them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, You Tube, and Google +.

As a dancer who strives to maintain a long and lean body, I see products like these as tools to help me through times where I do not have time to stop and eat a real meal. I enjoyed the bars for breakfast, before and after workouts, and on-the-go during long days away from home. Thank you, Quest Nutrition!
So tell me, what’s your quest?
NYC Birthday
These protein bars are awesome! I discovered them at GNC when I was trying to cut back a bit on the sugars that I seem to partake of regularly during the day in NYC (large soda ban or no).
However, I was unaware that the peanut butter cups existed, and since Reese’s is indeed my number one addiction in life, I am very excited to check them out. Thanks so much for sharing, Heather!
