The minute I published this morning’s blog post telling you I was off to get ready for an event, it got cancelled. It started raining at about 10:30 a.m. and hasn’t stopped since!
I could use the extra bump in my paycheck, but to be honest, I really don’t mind when that happens. All the more reason to stay productive and get some things done around here. Like an indoor workout, for instance!
Are you guys sick of me posting these yet? Ha. I swear, it’s at-home workout or no workout these days. Hopefully that will change soon.
In the mean time, I enjoy putting more challenging ones together and will be sure to share this Fitness Pilates inspired one with you tomorrow!
Q&A Interview with Tara Stiles
A couple of weeks ago, I shared an exciting opportunity for me to virtually interview Tara Stiles.
This Wednesday, I am thrilled to be heading out to Anaheim, California to attend the IDEA BlogFest and World Convention. I will be there until Sunday and am really looking forward to learning from the fitness professionals and environment, all the while being surrounded by blogging buddies. So fun!
To kick things off before I get there, I was able to ask any one of the celebrity fitness professionals a handful of questions and am so grateful for the opportunity. I chose Tara Stiles because I think she’s awesome and inspiring, and I know a lot of you guys do too!
I ended up sending all of the questions I put together and ran by you guys, along with one more per your suggestions. Thanks for the feedback!
Just as a background for those of you who might not know, Tara is the founder and owner of Strala, the first branded yoga program to be available in major chains. She also has her own specialty line of yoga clothing with Reebok (I’m obsessed) and is a best-selling author. Love her!
Here’s what she had to say…
• You certainly keep a colorful plate filled with healthy meals and snacks. What are some of your tips to keeping that up while on the road?
Thanks. Cooking is super fun and relaxing for me. I love getting creative in the kitchen, discovering new recipes. Travel is always a challenge but an opportunity too! I bring a big bag of mixed nuts and fruits to snack on so if I’m stuck somewhere and starved I’m not at mercy to the airport selection. If I’m in a city for more than a couple days, I’ll try to make a trip to the grocery store, or make friends with the chef at the hotel and see if they can whip up some of my favorites.
Since I’ve been working with the W hotels they deliver my green smoothie every morning to my room. Even before the W spoiled me, I usually call the kitchen and ask for something that may not be on the menu. It usually works.
• What is your favorite type of Strala or Yoga Class?
STRONG class is super fun. It’s our most challenging class so doubles as a sweaty fun movement exploration and the right amount of energy and stress I need to work out from the day.
• Do you meditate? If so, when and where?
Mornings at home. Just for a few minutes sometimes, but I always feel better when I do, and I’m not going to lie and say I do it every day. I should, but I don’t. Sometimes I fall asleep without brushing my teeth. That’s bad too!
• What do you tell men and women who say they aren’t flexible enough to do yoga?
Bend your knees. You got this.
• What is your go-to piece from Reebok Yoga?
The sports bras are my favorite. Everything I love from a skinny strap to cozy fabrics to super fun colors and patterns. The shape stays the same and we keep having fun with the colors and patterns. Like your fav thing you just keep going back for. I wear them every day.

Thanks again for answering my questions, Tara!
Are any of you going to be at IDEA BlogFest and/or the World Convention?
I will be at both (BlogFest on Thursday, Friday and World Convention on Saturday, Sunday) for all four days. Make sure to leave a comment or email me if you are and would like to say hello!
Kim @ Fittin Pretty
I love Tara! So awesome that you were able to do this interview with her. I had no idea she was an author too–I’ll have to go track down her book! How nice that the W hotels deliver green smoothies to her room, ha! That’s serious service.
P.S. I’m all about at-home workouts. Keep em coming please! 🙂
Heather
I know right? I love that. I need all of the green smoothies when I travel to balance everything else I eat that’s sweet out! And thanks, I certainly will.
Strength and Sunshine
Haha, I totally just did my first yoga practice with Tara just a few minutes ago! Her energy is so relaxed, yet so strong! She is such a beautiful yogi 🙂
Heather
That’s awesome! I’ll have to stream one online soon!
Olga
When her videos pop up on facebook, that’s my reminder to stretch at my desk! lol. I love watching her videos, she is so graceful and brings this calm aura into her sessions. Darn, I thought you were interviewing her at the convention, I wanted you to ask her about her knitting! I remember seeing her posts on instagram, knitting hats for friends? Curious how she got into knitting.. and if that’s a form of “me time” for her?
Have an awesome time in Cali!! 🙂
Heather
That’s funny, but a great system! 😉 I won’t be interviewing her in person, but I did sign up for a session with her, so I’m hoping to get to meet her and snap a photo to share. It will be fun to give her a face to the name of this virtual interview with me! If I do get to talk to her, I’ll have to ask her about knitting. Thanks!

I so wish I was going to IDEA and Blogfest this week, but I’ll be reading your recaps from afar. I’ve taken Strala STRONG yoga and it was such a good class. Great interview.
Heather
I wish you were going too! I’m sure we will connect down the road. Thanks again for the question!
