I have a feeling a lot of you were expecting to see this post pop up sooner than later. If you have been following the blog over the past few weeks, you have probably seen a handful of mentions and pictures including these.
Earlier this month, I was sent a (colorful and fun!) pair of Reebok True Studio Slippers to review as part of a FitFluential campaign.
They are extremely lightweight and comfortable shoes made for yoga and barre classes with the purpose of providing a barefoot feel with extra grip.
Before even trying them on, I had a hunch that they would feel very similar to a ballet slipper, and would allow me to point and flex my feet with mobility and ease. I was right.
Basically, they are like ballet slippers, only more versatile, thanks to the Concona woven coconut fiber material and grippies on the bottom.
If you have ever been to a barre studio, then you have probably seen a pair of barre or yoga socks before. The purpose of these is the same: to create an easy way to balance and hold positions while providing an anti-slip grip on the floor.
Before seeing these slippers appear on the Reebok website, I had only heard of barre socks. Never shoes.
On my last visit to Orlando, I took a barre class and noticed some really neat new features and styles of barre socks. There are tons of them out there and now some even include mesh and sparkles as part of the design.
While this slipper doesn’t have either of those features, it does include:
• light upper materials with an elastic topline (So comfy!)
• a low-profile for a grounded fit (Great mobility!)
• coconut fiber lining for natural evaporative cooling and odor resistance
• silicon printed outside grip for traction and slippage prevention
• ultra feminine style and sleek design (not to mention fun colors!)
Since receiving them a few weeks ago, I have already tested them out a handful of times. My first time wearing them was in a barre class with Julie and Gina in New York!
(Gina and I had matching cool breeze/fluorange cloud prints and Julie sported a grey/lemon zest combo.)
We all broke them out again the next day at the Reebok Skyscape Launch Party for an in-person Ballet Beautiful workout with Mary Helen Bowers!
The class and style of workout was amazing, and absolutely perfect for these type of slippers. In fact, since my arrival back home, I have already completed two more Ballet Beautiful workouts in my basement via Amazon Prime online streaming.
While this fitness slipper is designed primarily for barre and yoga, I can’t help but to want to turn to them for other things as well. I may be alone here, but I don’t always feel like wearing shoes when completing workouts at-home. I end up in socks on my carpet most of the time, and I think these might just be the perfect in-between during HIIT, kick boxing, and Tabatas.
Don’t take my word on that, as it was just a thought. If I do end up wearing them for anything similar to what I just mentioned, I will be sure to check back in with how it went!
Just as a heads up, I think these slippers run a bit on the small side. I normally wear anywhere between a 7 and a 7.5 street shoe size, but all of my Reebok sneakers arrive in size 7 with a great fit. These, however, I think I would feel more comfortable in the half size up.
Used on variety of workouts or not, these slippers make me happy, and I love the ballet slipper feel that takes me right back to ballet class on wood floors.
While I do like wearing barre socks, I think the extra money spent on a slipper would be worth the investment if you frequent a studio.
They retail for $59.99 and you can purchase them online or at any Reebok FitHub store.
Thanks, Reebok, for always keeping me up to date on the latest studio wear!
Question of the Afternoon
• Do you take barre or yoga classes? If so, do you prefer to go barefoot or wear (regular or grip) socks?
I’ve never been to barre or (many) yoga classes – I kind of want to start though. My right side is totally inflexible (and I’m right handed! Weird hey?)
Sounds like barre or yoga would be great for you and your flexibility! When I used to teach barre, I was the most flexible I had ever been. I love the concentration on stretching in both of those practices!

These are adorable! I would love a pair for my barre classes. Currently I wear barre socks but these are so much cuter 🙂
