Happy October! Does anyone else feel like September went by with a blink of an eye?
You might have already noticed I have had to cut back on my regular blogging schedule – temporarily – until we make the move up north and settle in. It may sound silly, but getting back to sharing my daily eats, workouts and shenanigans is something I am looking forward to the most in our new adventure in Michigan.
Today I am highlighting a few stand out pieces from my wardrobe in September. Considering our move is less than two weeks away, I have a feeling this will be my last post involving sundresses for the year… Oh boy.
It goes without saying that there are a lot of outfits that go by unblogged, but my goal is to stop in and document a few notable pieces at least once a month.
You will also notice I am a bit of a bargain shopper. I appreciate high fashion and expensive designer clothing, but prefer to highlight pieces that everyday shoppers on a budget (like myself) can afford.
Night Out With Friends
My first outfit is perfect for a dinner date. I felt extremely comfortable in the loose material, and felt just dressed up enough to meet a few friends at the outside patio of a local, trendy restaurant.
Dress: Urban Outfitters – sale rack
Wedges: Target, also seen here
With a busy pattern and bright colored shoes, I kept accessories to a minimum of wedding rings and tiny diamond earrings.
Saturday Night Service
I had been dying to wear this beige blouse with navy blue bows ever since it was delivered to my doorstep back in July!
Although I would have loved to exchange the flats for a pair of nude pumps, I felt the ones pictured were the better fit for a casual church service.
The blouse is extremely thin, so I layered a plain white spaghetti strapped tank under it to conceal the goods.

Blouse: Modcloth
Skinny Jeans: Forever 21
Flats: BCBG, via Marshall’s
Gold Bangle: Urban Outfitters
Earrings: Forever 21
Dress For Success Event
You might recognize this little red number from the recent Dress For Success Stiletto Strut event I wrote about.
Besides getting to help out with a local charity event, I was also excited to wear my black and silver pearl bracelet Scott brought home for me from China back in 2008.
Although I cannot really help you out on the pearls, I can tell you I purchased these Steve Madden pumps from Ross about two years ago – also seen here.
I have had this dress in my closet for (try not to laugh) about five years now, and it was purchased from Express, on the sale rack no less. While cleaning out my wardrobe, I wanted to give this dress one more go before giving it away. I simply adore the cutout in the back.
Wouldn’t you know, by the end of the evening I received at least five compliments on my dress. Not only that, but one of the strutters in the contest was wearing the exact same dress. Same color, same cutout, same sale from Express five years ago. Crazy!
I guess it is worth keeping around after all. 😉
Moving into October and up to a dramatically cooler climate, I am looking forward to completely revamping my wardrobe and it is going to start with a trip to the outlets in Orlando as soon as I get some free time.
Winter coats, scarves, boots, and other layering pieces… here I come!
Questions of the Day
• What were some of your favorite wardrobe pieces from September?
• Are you still able to wear shorts and dresses where you live, or have you already pulled out the Fall wardrobe?

I’m in an awkward wardrobe phase…a mix between summer and fall clothes. I got rid of most of my winter clothes after last season so I have a lot to buy this year. I can get by wearing a skirt and blouse or dress with a jean jacket, blazer, or leather jacket. I’ve worn the boots a few times now and tights once…but I like to hold off on those until I absolutely have to since they are a wardrobe must for several months when you live up north!!!!! If you haven’t gotten one already, you def should purchase a down coat…you can probably get a northface one at an outlet for less $$ before you move. It’s not fashionable..but it’ll def keep you warm!!!! Good luck with the move!!!! 🙂

I can completely relate! My wardrobe is completely awkward at this point. Giving the fact I have spent my last three jobs in workout attire, I definitely need a wardrobe makeover once we get up there! A few staples I’m looking forward to wearing all year are a pair of black and a pair of brown leather boots. Great tip on the down coat – haven’t made that purchase yet, but plan to! Thanks 🙂
