Goooood Morning! How is the week going for every body? It seems to be flying over here.
I am unsure of how observant you guys are, but some of you might have noticed that my posting schedule has become later in the day. As in, I feel like I am doing a good job if I post before Noon. I promise there is a good reason behind it… and it is because I have been dancing again!
After a year and a half hiatus from dancing on the NBA court, I have returned. Ahhhh! Can you believe it?
Some of you have noticed these pictures pop up on my Instagram feed, and I can answer some questions that have followed…
• Are you on the Pistons Dance Team? No. They had auditions back in August. Their team performs in all of the halftimes of the artists that include backup dancers, and they have invited me to take part in those performances.
• Do you have a uniform and do you perform their routines? No. The only costuming I perform in is my own, with the exception of boots and sneakers. I don’t perform at any other time during the games besides halftime.
• Are you enjoying it? Yes! It feels amazing to get to be able to dance on court again, and I am excited to have the opportunity here.
So far, I have performed in three halftime shows and the next one is with Fat Joe on Friday! Long night and weekend rehearsals have been filling up my schedule again, but it has been one hundred percent worth it.
Shakin’ It Up
Besides getting to “shake it” on the court again, I have noticed a few interesting things around the house lately.
I awoke the other day to find ornaments in my bowl of holiday scented pine cones on our dining room table. It looks like Scott found the box of ornaments that went missing. I italicize found because somehow he knew exactly where it was when I joked that he had hid it (and all of my dancer ornaments inside) from me.
I like it! Good job, hubby.
Every few days, I also notice a few ornaments tossed around on the floor.
Hmmmm. I wonder who could have put them there and why they keep appearing…
Our pets are like children, I swear.
Shakin’ It Up Spicy Pasta
Yesterday, I also got a little creative in the kitchen when Scott requested pasta for dinner. We had a few types of noodles left in the pantry, but not enough of one to make enough for the two of us.
Into two pots of boiling water went one portion whole wheat penne pasta, and spaghetti in the other.
We had one can of Newman’s Own Fire Roasted Tomato & Garlic Pasta sauce on hand, and I decided to mix it up from the norm by adding a few ingredients of my own.
While making a garden salad, I dropped a few sliced black olives, two handfuls of diced red pepper, and a few shakes of red pepper flakes, basil, and oregano into the sauce.
For the salad, I used red romaine lettuce, fresh tomatoes, red pepper, cucumbers, black olives, and freshly shredded Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese.
Ohhhh my was that sauce delicious! I may or may not have had the rest of it as an early lunch today, topped with Parmesean cheese.
Ummm…. YUM.
With that, I am going to get moving and head to the gym for a Fitness Pilates class. I have been to a local barre studio somewhat close to where we are, but I have found that this class at the gym works very similar muscles, and it is included in my membership. In fact, my abs and arms leave on complete fire.
I do have to say, however, that nothing makes my thighs and booty shake like barre though! I am sure I will get back to it soon.
Shakin’ in out the door with one of my favorite hydration drinks: Drink Chia.
I just love those little drinks packed with chia seeds! The company sent me a case of them a few weeks ago, and I have been enjoying at least one a day. I am excited to announce that they will be working with me to do another Drink Chia Giveaway on the blog in the very near future, so keep a look out!
Have a great rest of your day! #ShakeitBaby
