Hello! It’s Thursday, and since I only have a short amount of time to chat on the blog today, I’m going to get right to it.
Who’s down for another edition of Thinking Out Loud? Woot! Me too!
• Spring needs to get back here… like, yesterday.
I hate to complain, but I feel like I have a right to. I was just saying how happy I was to see winter officially out of here last weekend with temperatures in the 70s!
Today? Snow flurries with a low of 28.
Seriously. It’s late-April. Whyyy? I won’t stop asking until I understand.
• How often do you…
Change your nail polish?
Change your sheets?
Change the hand towels in your bathroom?
My answers: a couple of days after I paint them (which is hardly ever), every Friday, and probably once a week. I don’t know why, but I’ve always been curious as to what other people do.
• Flowers dying make me sad.
I love buying and receiving flowers, but I really can’t handle them dying. It legitimately makes me sad, and I always try my best to give them life again. I re-cut the stems, change the water multiple times a day, and rearrange them so they stand straight until they die. I know, I’m ridiculous. It is what it is.
I can’t be the only one who feels this way, right?
• Do you keep your toaster on the kitchen counter?
I never thought to do anything differently before I met Scott. He doesn’t like very much clutter, so our kitchen counters are usually pretty clear.
What makes me laugh, however, is that our huge electric mixer is on the counter, but our toaster has a permanent home under the counter. I have to drag it out and plug it in every time I use it, let it cool, then put it back under the counter.
We probably use the mixer about two days a month (if that), and the toaster almost every single day. We’ve been doing this for years, but I am finally starting to wonder why. So funny.
• So, I was working on the computer last night and this happened…
Cat or human? I’m one hundred percent convinced Roadie thinks is he one of those two things at this point. Hilarious.
• In a hurry after making a recipe today, this was left in our kitchen sink…
… and I had a minor panic attack.
I can’t leave dishes in our sink. Ever. I usually clean as I go when making any meal or recipe, so the fact that there were this many dishes in the first place already freaked me out.
Knowing I needed to get out the door without time to clean it all up really got me. Getting home to clean the dishes was in the back of my mind the entire time I was at the gym earlier.
OCD or normal?

Well, I guess that’s it for now. I’ve gotta jet back over to the gym for a session!
Thanks for clicking over, and I’ll see you back here bright and early in the morning with Friday Favorites. <3

We got a swing of bad weather this week too, so I am with you on that sad selfie! Hopefully your town warms up soon! I hate when flowers die as well, so I just buy fake flowers. Not as nice, but I don’t have to worry about re-buying or dead petals. 🙂

After seeing everyone else I know basking in the sun and wearing tank tops, it’s good to know it’s not just us! 😉

Flowers dying makes me sad too! They’re so darn pricey…you’d hope they stick around for a little longer.
To answer your questions… I take off my nail polish usually just whenever it gets really chippy and bad looking, which is usually 3-4 days after I put it on. Aaand I change our sheets and towels probably once every 2-3 weeks. Yikes. Maybe that’s a long time? I don’t know. I used to be better at it before a little boy named Hunter came along, and then it just didn’t become as much of priority I guess? I am a super clean person, but for whatever reason the sheets and towels don’t bother me as much as other things. It also may have something to do with the fact that I despise putting new sheets on the bed. Ha!
I don’t like a lot of clutter on our counters either so we also put our toaster in a cabinet out of sight, but our Kitchen Aid is on our counter…and like you guys, we definitely use the toaster more than the Kitchen Aid. My theory is that the Kitchen Aid is a pain in the butt to get out since it’s so heavy and it’s prettier to look at than the toaster. 😉
Heather
Haha, that’s funny. I don’t mind doing sheets, but I HATE mopping. I’ll vacuum the whole house every week, but probably mop every 2-3 weeks. Everyone has their things! lol. Thanks for your input on the toaster. It totally makes sense and makes me feel less crazy! 😉

I’m with you on the weather … short weather last weekend and now cold and rainy with a chance of snow tonight!!
Nail polish I change once it starts chipping, sheets once a week and towels once or twice a week. Our toaster used to stay in a cupboard but then we bought a new cute one that is too pretty to put away 🙂
I’m like that with dishes in the sink, when there’s a lot of loads of laundry to do or when our house feels dirtier than normal. I have a hard time leaving the house with it as is and think about it allllll day! Glad I’m not the only one that does that :p
Heather
I definitely agree! Laundry is another thing I hate slacking on. Clothes in the bin and off the floor and dishes out of the sink makes our house seem 1000x cleaner! Glad we’re on the same level there 😉

I am SO with you about getting emotional over dying flowers. I love receiving fresh flowers as well and even buying them for myself occasionally as a treat, but I always try to trim them and add more water as they slowly wilt. I hate throwing them out eventually. I did figure out what I’m going to do for my wedding coming up in 2 years that my fiance and I have just begun planning though! With the flowers! Other than my bouquet and the girls’ bouquets, if they want to keep them, I’m going to donate the rest of the fresh flowers we may use for centerpieces and such to a nursing home so they can enjoy them while they are fresh. 🙂

I could NOT leave the house with dishes in the sink. And I also change our sheets on Fridays. How about that. 🙂 hehehe You poor Florida girl in Michigan. Sorry about the weather, Heather!

I am with you about dishes in the Sink… I tend to clean as I go because too many dishes makes me uneasy! I also have to do the dishes before I eat, aka pans etc, and although my husband used to think I was crazy he now completely agrees it is a great thing to do, knowing you can enjoy your dinner with everything clear!

Change your nail polish? I usually wear nail polish about 2 weeks out of a month and I ususally take it off right when it starts chipping. I was a HUGE devotee in college obsessing over it but now I don’ thave time lol
Change your sheets? Even Sunday (dogs sleeping in the bed = religious sheet changing, my parents did it WAY less growing up)
Change the hand towels in your bathroom? probably every 2 weeks? That’s way less consistent for me.
And also, we recently put out kitchenaid stand mixer away to keep the toaster out… but we also only have a toaster oven, so it’s bigger than a regular toaster, but I wasn’t using the kitchen aid that often at all! I definitely liked the way it looks but it’s way more practical to have it away. haah

I don’t wear nail polish but sheets and towels are changed or washed once a week usually Sunday along with all my errands.
I use my toaster oven for literally everything so no toaster for now. And I’m a bit OCD but I think anyone would cringe at that mess! I like to wash things right away too that’s my least favorite part about baking so many bowls, measuring cups, etc lol

I moved into a new place that doesn’t have a built in microwave. I’m saving counter space by not buying one. The hardest part is having to reheat coffee on the stove or drink it while it’s still hot. I never would have thought of putting my toaster in a cabinet, but now I want to because I use it less than once a week!

I hate dirty dishes in the sink too! And right now mine are overflowing. Fun times! haha
