Hello and good morning! It’s Thursday, and I’m in the mood to chat, so…
Who’s down for another edition of Thinking Out Loud?
1. Today’s breakfast = total freezer rejects.
As I was grabbing a box of waffles out from the freezer this morning, I saw two lonely waffles wrapped in baggies outside of the box. If I had to take a guess, I would say they have been sitting there for months!
Why I’ve never thought to use them first before going for the newer box is beyond me. For the record, they tasted a little like the freezer. Next time I won’t wait months before eating them.
Do you ever just grab the newer version? (Or, like me, always grab the newer version?)
My mind says use the old first, but my stomach says someone else will eat them and I’ll selfishly take the fresh one instead. Whoops.
2. This screen keeps falling off our master bedroom window…
… and it’s because Aspen keeps pushing it. We thought it was a fluke at first, but this is the second time we found the screen on the grass in our backyard and Aspen outside. She literally pushes it and jumps out from the second story!
Our neighbors even stopped by yesterday to let us know what happened. They say cats have nine lives, but geez. You’re not Catwoman!
3. Do your pets ever pose for pictures like this?
Speaking of the little troublemaker, I swear she knows when I’m taking pictures of her.
I wanted to capture her showing her belly, because I think it’s adorable, and she used her paws to clear her face and went on a modeling frenzy as soon as I started snapping. Seriously.
“This is my poker face.”
I just can’t with her. She’s so stinkin’ cute.
4. I’m in denial that #TGIT is gone for the summer.
Thursdays have become a low-key celebration night in our home. After I get home from the gym, Scott and I have dinner and enjoy the night curled up on the couch while watching my (but what has turned into our) favorite shows on ABC. I was thinking about what we should have for dinner tonight and then remembered Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal are now on a break for the summer!
No! #TGIT is like a pre-Friday break for us. Now we’ll just have to find something new on Netflix to obsess over. Any suggestions?
5. Our air conditioning went out this week…
… but it’s okay because it’s a low of 45 degrees today, which is why we had the windows open in the first place. There’s definitely a chill in the air!
(And shooting this in a tank and shorts was fun yesterday, but I refuse to wear pants while exercising outside at this point.)
Everything is fixed on the air front (fingers crossed), but as a Florida native, I find it crazy that we weren’t sleeping in pools of sweat with a broken air unit at the end of May. What. the. heck. It’s almost June, Michigan. Get yourself together.
6. Today is a rest day. No workouts, just stretching.
My body is so sore! After taking the weekend off, I guess I hit the gym pretty hard over the past few days. I woke up with a headache and an achy body this morning. You know what that means, right? It’s time to listen to my body and enjoy a rest day!
7. I can’t stop eating turkey jerky.
I need to stop buying it, because I will finish an entire bag in a day or two.
It’s becoming a real addiction, y’all.
#cantstopwontstop
8. This article hits a little too close to home.
Sometimes I carry these OCD tendencies around with me, but Scott’s got it even worse than I do. For the longest time, I thought he was frustrated with me, but in reality, he’s just super particular about certain things. Between the two of us, one is always nit-picking over the tiniest things. It’s pretty ridiculous and silly, and now that we are aware of it, we try to catch ourselves and jump in the other person’s shoes for a bit before we bark.
It’s a great read on relationships and understanding your spouse if you have a few minutes to spare. Remember, it’s just hamburger meat!

Well, I guess that’s it for now. I’ve got some planning to do before I head over to the gym.
See you later!

What is one thing you would write if you were thinking out loud?
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
Your cat is so cute!! But she jumped from the second story window?! She is a daredevil!! haha
Heather
Yeah… lol. She keeps things interesting around here, that’s for sure!
Brittany
I’m guilty of lonely freezer items too! If we have a leftover piece of chicken or meat I always stick it in freezer..never to be seen again
Heather
Lonely freezer items, lol. That’s a great way to put it!
Lindsey
If you like Scandal you might like Black List on Netflix. I think season 2 is coming to Netflix soon. I would never watch a show so early but my husband got me hooked and I love it!
Heather
Hmmm, I’ll have to suggest that one! Thanks for the suggestion 🙂
Jamie
I like that article, and even sent it to my boyfriend / family because I am VERY type-A, particular, specific, organized… all those REALLY accommodating adjectives. And I ALWAYS choose the newer items in the freezer or fridge, because who doesn’t want to eat fresh(er) waffles!?
Heather
I thought it was a great read, for both people who feel the same way, or spouses/family members that live with someone who does!
markmymiles
I love that article. Sadly, that wife is ME. I must work on this!
Heather
It’s a good reminder, eh? 😉
Jennifer Gilson
Netflix suggestion: Bloodline. It is very addicting.
Heather
Interesting! I’ll have to check that out. Thanks!
Brit
Aspen is so cute!
Heather
Thanks, she’s a funny little furball. <3
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve gotten pretty good at keeping things straight in my own freezer, but I remember it being a pretty huge gamble back when I was still living at home. My parents have a tendency to throw things in there and forget about them, so some things have probably been sitting in there for -years-. And Aspen is seriously the cutest!
Heather
It’s definitely more of a challenge when you are sharing the freezer! I’m scared to really dig deep and see what’s in there! Thanks for hosting the link-up 🙂
hmtroupe
Cats are so quirky! Our cat plays with our daughter- she will wait while Matilda come barreling toward her, and then run away at the last minute. It is too funny!
Heather
That’s too cute. I love that she plays with your daughter! Most cats get scared and either scurry away or hide in the house.
Hayley
Your cat is so cute. I am not a huge cat person but there are certain ones that I think are adorable, especially if they aren’t standoffish. I am bummed TGIT is over too…Scandal, so good.
Heather
I knowwww…. I just wasn’t ready for it to end yet! Hopefully we’ll start a new Thursday night tradition to get us through the summer 😉
Amanda @ Slimplify Life
I’m thinking that I am craving chocolate and red wine but it is only 1PM….yikes 😉
Heather
Haha, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? 😉
Lindsey
When you first said that your air conditioning was out I started to panic for you! I instantly thought back to the time out air conditioning went out last year in June (in Florida) and it was miserable! I’m happy to live somewhere cooler now (Oregon), and I’m glad you don’t have to suffer through no A/C in Florida!
I am sad that TGIT is over too! I was really into Grey’s Anatomy this season and I don’t want to wait for another one! Ughh! How about the last few episodes? Crazy!
Heather
I know, I guess it went out at the perfect time 😉 I enjoyed this season of Grey’s but I still can’t get over losing McDreamy. It’s just NEVER going to be the same. I’ve been watching marathons of the first couple of seasons on Netflix to get my fix of “normal” episodes. It’s going to be hard to wait all summer for the next season!
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me
My cat is mischievous like Aspen as well! I love you little anecdote about Aspen. Sounds like a great cat who always keeps things interesting 😉
I am quite sad that TGIT is over as well. 🙁 I just started watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix after hearing many rave reviews, and it is filling that void nicely! Also, if you are in need of a comedy, the Netflix show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is pretty darn good too!
Heather
Between her and the other two, there’s never a dull day around our house!! Thanks for the suggestions 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
You’ve gotta try chicken jerky! That’s where it’s at 😉
Heather
Oh my gosh, why haven’t I ever tried this? Absolutely.
Aja
My cat just gets mad when I try to take pictures of her. I need to try turkey jerky. I’ve never been a fan of beef jerky, but maybe the turkey kind would be more my style. I’m so sad that all the TV shows are gone for summer. As a student it’s especially frustrating because now I actually have time to watch TV.
Heather
I’m not a huge fan of the regular beef, either. You’d probably love he turkey!
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood
When my cat was a kitten, I woke up to see her outside on the windowsill of our bedroom in our apt, which was at least 100 feet up and she was so terrified!
Heather
Ahhh how nerve wrecking! I can relate… Aspen used to sneak out to the balcony of our old condo in Florida and actually walk on the outside of the ledge. 8 stories up!! Shes a quick one… it took a lot of treats to get her back, and I was a huge mess! So scary!
Amy M4gic
All of my favorite shows are on hiatus right now, too, but Extreme Weight Loss (with Chris and Heidi Powell) returns next Tuesday! We’ve also been watching Silicon Valley (HBO), Inside Amy Schumer (Hulu), and Broad City (Hulu), so I guess you could say we’re on a comedy kick!
Heather
We love watching comedies too! Thanks for suggestions 🙂
healthypetite
I ALWAYS go for the newer things in the freezer! It’s just better aha! Although I hate the disappointment when you eat something old from the freezer and it tastes like freezer ):
Heather
Right? Haha, that’s the worst.
