Good morning! It’s been quite some time since I shared a Thinking Out Loud post, so how about we catch up with a little lighthearted chatter?
I hope you enjoy the random thoughts and musings thrown into one post!
1. I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already 2 weeks away…
I mean, really… how fast is this year flashing by?
My mom is coming up to visit us over the holiday, and she reminded me how quickly it is approaching while on the phone last night. She came up here at the same time last year, and I am looking forward to spending time with her.
Here’s hoping she doesn’t freeze!
2. I don’t want to jinx it, but the weather has been pretty amazing lately.
We’re in mid-November, and the low for the next 5 days is in the mid-30s. That may not seem exciting to some, but trust me… it’s kind of a big deal for our neck of the woods.
As long as it’s somewhat sunny, the afternoons have felt warm enough to keep me relatively happy.
After the last two winters of record-breaking snowfall and cold temperatures, I would love this “warm spell” to stick around for another few months!
3. How do you guys feel about skiing?
Since moving to Michigan, I have been asked if I want to take a trip to the slopes more times than I can count. My reply is always a hesitant “um, maybe?”
While I truly appreciate the sport, my thoughts on taking ski trips are best summed up by this video by Buzzfeed Matt. (His Whine About It series of videos is hilarious, by the way.)
I don’t know… maybe things have changed since I now live in the frozen tundra, but doing power squats down a mountain or hill over and over in the freezing cold just doesn’t scream “vacation” to me. Most likely, I would take a few runs and then head back into the lodge to enjoy hot chocolate while bundling up next to fire.
Perhaps it’s the hot vs. cold thing, but I’d take a trip down to a beach over a snowy mountain any day. (Sorry, friends who love skiing and want us to travel for it!)
4. “Hello” is officially on repeat any time I’m driving.
Anyone else?
I had a pretty solid obsession with Adele’s 21 Album when it came out, and this time is no different. I feel like she’s slowly taking on the world! Haha.
As much as I love the song, I also can’t get enough of the parodies that pop up with it, too.
Have you seen Ellen’s? Or this little boy’s “hi” response video? So great!
5. I’m not even close to being sick of pumpkin yet.
Call me basic, but I really can’t get enough pumpkin-infused flavor and foods in my life right now. Haha, I’m laughing as I sip on my Pumpkin Spice mug of coffee while I type.
While dining out (late-night) in Chicago over the weekend, I ordered the Pumpkin Bruschetta and Pumpkin Blondie for dessert. Scott brought me home a slice of pumpkin cheesecake from Dessert Oasis the other night, and you would have thought he gave me a box of gold. I mean, when you think about it… it’s pretty equal.
There comes a time where I get over the excitement of all the pumpkin things, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
Keep bringing it on!
6. It’s a good thing I’m staying on top of my barre classes.
(Thanks to what you’re reading above) I am trying my best to stay on track with my workouts to counteract all of the pumpkin and holiday themed goodies thrown my way around this time of year.
I’ve been loving my 30-day membership to The Barre Code and aim to make it to the studio for a barre, HIIT, or boot camp style of class five days a week. Having a variety of different types of barre classes at my fingertips has really helped me get out the door and onto toning, tucking, and tightening.
I will be back to share more soon!
7. I apologize for the sporadic posting this week.
I guess life is finally starting to catch up with me, because I don’t want to do anything but unwind and hit the sack when I get home from work at night. I used to get a good head start on my post for the next morning, but it just hasn’t been in the cards this week. I’m really hoping to get my act together next week.
8. I have really been enjoying my job at the nursery.
Last month, I shared that I have been working at the day care at my church two days a week.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle it, but it has been really good for me. It brings me so much joy to love on the little ones and just try to brighten their days. We go on a break for Thanksgiving for a couple of weeks, and while I will appreciate the extra time at home on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, I am going to miss those adorable smiles.

And with that, I need to boogie and get ready to head out to work at the day care!
Questions of the Day
• What would you say if you were thinking out loud today?
• What are your thoughts on skiing – fun or terrifying?

I LOVE to ski! Has been a famikly tradition since I was little, so it has remained one of my favorite winter activites. Also, Adele’s “Hello” is on repeat for me, too. Obsessed.

I can really relate to the skiing thing! My boyfriend loves to ski and has asked me to go multiple times but I just don’t know about it haha, maybe I’ll muster up the courage to soon!

Even though I have lived in Michigan my whole life I have only been skiing a handful of times, and that was years ago. Now when I am with people that want to go out skiing, I let them do their thing and cozy up in the lodge next to the fire, that is much more preferable to me 😉

I live super close to the mountains so people always ask if I ski too. I usually go on one ski trip a year. But I take about one run down the hill and then park myself in the lodge or better yet in a hot tub.

I am still loving all the pumpkin and apple spice, but it is so weird that Thanksgiving crept up…it’s been unseasonably warm here in NYC too (not that I am complaining at all!) and suddenly my favorite holiday is in just two weeks!
Taylor
I have to agree with skiing! I would rather be inside all nice and cozy during the winter than out on the slopes.
Alexandra @ My Urban Family
I’m loving this weather as well! If I can bundle up a bit and still get outside for even just 20 minutes each day I’ll take it considering it’s Nov!

I’ve never skied, but I’ve always wanted to give a shot! I tried my hand at snowboarding and left with a very sore behind, haha!

Skiing…no way! I always hear the horror stories of people hitting their head or some other accident on the slopes and dieing…. But I would totally snowboard instead..so hahaha!
Kristin
I used to go skiing in high school but haven’t been in years, I might hurt myself if I tried now!

Skiing is totally not my thing. Anything involving snow and freezing temperatures is not my idea of a vacation either. I prefer trips to tropical islands during the winter months 🙂

Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m not so much a fabulous skier, but I absolutely -adore- snowboarding and definitely think you should give it a shot! Granted, I’m definitely more of a mountain person than I am a beach person, but I think it’d be worth it 😀 And Hello is a serious obsession for me at the moment as well… I can’t wait for her album to come out. Squeeee!

Oh my goodness—I am terrified of skiing! Going downhill is the scary party. I’m curious to try cross-country skiing, though.

Does your Barre Code studio offer Brawl classes? If they do, you should definitely try one! It’s a cardio kickboxing class and it’s my favorite class at the Barre Code by far.
Heather
Yes! I have really been wanting to try it, but I haven’t been able to get to the times offered. Soon! 🙂
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood
Definitely not ready for pumpkin season to be over either, I’m soaking it in. As for skiing, I’ve been doing it since I was little, but after maybe 15 it takes a lot more for me to actually want to go. I’m always happy to be out there, but everytime my husband asks if I want to go, I’m just like, ehh..

1. YES to Adele, can’t stop- will not stop.. It somehow convinces me that I am a good singer HA!
2. Skiing is terrifying, yet once you pick it up (takes maybe 2 hours or so) it moves from terrifying to electrifying/awesome. Good luck on your adventures!!

I have never gone snow skiing only water skiing which I know there is a huge difference and I don’t think I will ever feel the need to get out there on the mountain – its just not my thing!
