Good morning! Mine’s starting extra early today with a shared cab ride to the City to attend a fitness event. I’ll be sure to share more about it tomorrow in Friday Favorites!
I originally planned to discuss something else with y’all today, but considering that I just finished settling in from work/working out/showering/eating/getting ready for tomorrow and need to hit the pillow like, now, I thought that a little catch-up chatter would suffice. It’s been a hot minute since I shared a Thinking Out Loud post, and I miss checking in with you guys more. How are you?!
Just for funsies, let’s pretend that we’re chatting over coffee this morning.
Here’s what I would tell you!
• Walks in Park Slope still take my breath away.
If you follow LIL on Instagram or Snapchat, you can expect to see frequent snaps of brownstones, streets, and snaps of Park Slope, Brooklyn. I’m sorry for being repetitive, but I feel like this kind of scenery needs to be shared. The weather is perfect right now, and it makes me appreciate my time outside and take everything in even more.
I can’t wait for the leaves to change and #sweaterweather to arrive in the park. Too soon?
• I’m really, really enjoying my new job.
Thank you for all of your encouragement and support regarding my new full-time job. Things have been going great so far, and I feel like I have already jumped right into the thick of it. Our studio isn’t open yet, so I’m spending my days on the computer and phone selling discounted memberships. (Locals – holler if you’re ready for a free 1-week at Orangetheory!)
Some perks of the job include living out this blog title (leggings as a uniform – what?) and being able to pop into a workout whenever it’s convenient. I’m doing some work remotely when I’m not at the new studio site, but every so often, I get to set up shop at a studio that already exists. I absolutely love the environment and feel-good atmosphere all day long!
• Although, sometimes I feel overwhelmed with three jobs.
As much as I feel like I am adjusting, I can also tell that my weekends will now be dedicated to playing catch-up on my other two side-jobs. I don’t look at this blog like a job, but I still work with sponsors and feel a responsibility to keep things relevant, informative, and interesting around here!
For those who haven’t caught onto it yet, I also (still) run all of the social media pages for my old gym in Rochester Hills. I re-tweet the posts from time to time, and it makes me smile when I see that some of you follow the pages. I work closely with the owner to collaborate on content on the regular, and I enjoy doing it.
I will admit, however, that I’m starting to feel like I don’t turn off. Ever. Forgive me if I seem like I’m lagging on my personal social media pages for a bit. I’m really trying to just take it all in and distance myself from my phone when I’m able to!
• How long do you keep face masks on?
Because I’m pretty sure I put on before dinner, like thirty minutes ago (update – an hour ago?!), and it’s still going strong. Is there such thing as giving yourself too much time in a mask? Minus the cracked layer that isn’t ideal, of course. Thoughts?
• Do you guys re-watch television series?
I do. In fact, I record them. I’ve already seen the entire collection of Friends episodes about twenty times each. I wish that was an exaggeration, because that would be less embarrassing.
Right now I’m recording Sex and the City and marathons of The Golden Girls that come on TV Land every Sunday. I save shows like this for when I’m blogging at night (whoops – secret’s out), or when I’m getting ready for bed! Is that weird? I seriously can’t get enough.
• Speaking of television shows …
#TGIT is almost back! Well, kind of. Who’s excited for a new season of Grey’s Anatomy to start? You know I am!
I have to say, however, that TGIT won’t be the same without Scandal. Apparently, the show is taking a brief hiatus and Conviction is taking the coveted spot in the Thursday night line up on ABC. I’m sure I’ll check it out, but c’mon. Give me my Grey’s and Scandal to help me get to Friday, please. Am I right?
• There’s a Starbucks coming right near our apartment …
Literally a block away. Part of me liked the fact that there (shockingly enough) wasn’t a Starbucks nearby. It forces us to check out the local coffee shops and support neighborhood businesses. The other part of me, however, is a huge fan. I mean, we’re in PS Latte season after all.
Overall, I’m excited! Now I have a new place to get out of the house and catch up on emails.
• This workout is amazing.
As if the Muffin-Top-Melter title wasn’t enough, it’s led by my favorite instructor featured on Popsugar, Pilates Trainer Jake DuPree. I absolutely love his workouts. They’re all super challenging, and, as crazy as it sounds, I always finish feeling sweaty and a little tighter.
As soon as I find a class of his to take near me (<- do these exist?) I’m in!
• I think I’m going to re-activate my Stitch Fix subscription
According to Google Analytics, a lot of you enjoy reading my Stitch Fix breakdowns!
I took a break from the monthly subscription (and let’s be real, expense, because I like to buy all the things) for over a year. I decided to do so only because buying new clothes wasn’t something that was a priority for my budget after Scott got laid off from his job in Detroit.
Well, now that we are settled into living in NYC, I’d like to celebrate my full-time job with a few splurges here and there. I’m looking forward to finally updating my style profile and getting a new shipment soon. I can’t wait to share the goods again!

And with that, my friends, I’m signing off. It’s been fun checking in today. Let me know something that you’re currently thinking out loud in the comments section!

Happy Thursday!
Sarah Shaneyfelt
I would love to work in a gym where my uniform was leggings! You’re comfortable all day long, and I know when I’m comfortable I work better hahaha! I haven’t tried face masks in forever so I definitely need to hop back on that bandwagon!

It’s definitely a perk! Although, it is weird that I won’t put a pair of jeans on for weeks at a time, right? 😉 Happy Friday!
heather @Lunging Through Life
I love everyone’s stich fix reviews!! I have never done it but always love fashion posts. I’m so happy your new job is going so well!

Thanks Heather! I’m excited to get back into it. Have a great weekend!

Lately I’ve been having a hankering to re watch Parenthood! Did you ever watch that one?? Ugh I miss it! I also am super excited to have Greys back in my life.. And Broncos football season!!!
Heather
I haven’t! I’ve heard it’s great though. Thanks for the rec!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
Girl I feel you on feeling like you never fully turn off. It can be a struggle.

Right?! Hopefully we can find at least a chunk of time on the weekends to re-boot and recharge. Enjoy it!
Hannah {Hannah at Home}
I have that mask and have wondered the same thing. Is my skin going to become a disaster from leaving it on for ages??? Who knows. it can’t be recommended, though The Skinny Confidential recommends leaving masks on for twice the time. And her skin is beautiful 🙂
So excited to hear the new job is going well!

Love her posts – and yes, she has flawless skin! Thanks so much for reading. Enjoy the weekend!
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub
I always rewatch TV shows. I like to watch something I know that I will like. I actually just finished rewatching the Sex and the City series.
Heather
YES! Loving it – I need to start from the beginning!
Kristin @ The Donut Runner
I know how you feel with the never turning off. Between my blog, my own personal social media, and the multiple social media accounts I run for my internship, my phone is always blowing up with things that need to be retweeted or responded to. Hopefully things even out and get better in that area soon:)
So glad you’re loving your new job, though!

It’s definitely hard to balance. I have access to social media platforms for 4 different pages. It can feel overwhelming at times for sure! Enjoy the weekend – and some time to unplug 🙂
Meagan @ My Life as Mrs.
I watch through all of Friends every year. It always makes me laugh and will always be my favorite show. I am also SO excited for Greys! First episode looks intense and I’m ready for a new season!

Good – I’m not the only one! 😉 I almost appreciate it more the 5th time around because I know what’s coming and it makes it that much funnier. Ha. Ridiculous. YAY for Grey’s!
Mackenzie
I think that if there is a cracked layer you probably should take that face mask off. Although despite saying that I also leave my face masks on for way too long…
And I don’t know how Park Slope could ever stop taking your breath away, all of the pictures make it look beautiful!
Happy Thursday!

Sara @ saralouyoga
I also love reading your stitch fix posts, hopefully with the new awesome job it won’t be too much of an expense anymore…congrats! I love seeing your pictures of new york, they look so beautiful and full of opportunity.
and taking time to unplug is so crucial, I’m sure you have lots of distractions there but I bet there are some nice spaces to unwind, too!
Heather
Thanks Sara! I’m excited to update my profile this weekend and schedule a fix. I can’t believe it’s been well over a year! Happy weekend!
Jill @ RunEatSnap
I am glad you like your new job! I tried out Orangetheory and loved it but I am on ClassPass right now and sadly, they don’t take part. I also watch old TV shows – I have 6 seasons of Friends I just watch on repeat! LOL
Heather
You’re right – they are not. Maybe that will change one day? I’ll definitely notify you if so! LOVE Friends! <3
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Heather! I love your Brooklyn snaps — so keep them coming. 🙂
As far as your thoughts — welcome to the world of doing too many things. hehehe It’s not easy. Oh and as far as old TV shows, I totally don’t do it, but Dave does. He will watch an old episode of Friends or Seinfeld as excited as if it’s the first time he has seen it heheh.
Happy Thursday, my friend!

Thanks Ashley! You know I love Snapping, when I have the time 🙂 So funny. I love it, but Scott thinks it’s the biggest waste of time. He won’t even watch a movie twice – even if it’s good! We laugh about it all the time.
Lisa D.
Oh my gosh. I just took my first trip to NYC last weekend and I kept texting my mom pictures of the brownstones and buildings! I could not get over how beautiful they were. I was fascinated with the architecture and how different each of them were. I cannot wait to go back!
I’ve been a member of OTF for 3 years (well there was a one year gap in there because we moved and a new studio finally opened by our new house this past March). It is my absolute favorite workout I’ve ever done.
🙂
Heather
They really are gorgeous. Sometimes I just have to stop and take it all in. I always think about how “normal” it is for people who grew up in the area. One day they might move somewhere new and be shocked to have drive everywhere in a cookie-cutter neighborhood. I really love the individuality of the brownstones! Also, YAY for you going to OTF! I bet your studio LOVES you 🙂
Heidi Kokborg
You’re so lucky to have a Starbuck’s just around the corner. I am so jealous of that! Though I probably would be spending all my money on coffee and cake if Starbuck’s actually was just around the corner 🙂 And I am so glad to hear you are loving your new job. That’s so good!
