This weekend has flown faster than I could say “Happy Saturday,” so I didn’t. And now it’s Sunday afternoon. Hopefully yours has been a good one so far… ours has been quite eventful.
Friday Night at the Tigers Game
I spent most of Friday and all of Saturday getting everything ready for today’s calendar photo shoot for our dance team! The past few days have basically consisted of me running around like a crazy person getting last minute necessities including makeup, accessories, and going to numerous appointments including hair (two actually), a pedicure, a massage (much needed!), and a spray tan.
Before I knew it, Scott and I were out the door and on our way to our second Tigers baseball game with some coworkers late Friday evening.
Last time it was raining and this time it fell on a night where the cold rolled in after being sweltering earlier this week. “Yup, that’s Michigan weather for you,” I’ve been told.
Rain or shine, cold or hot, our group of friends had a blast and I think I even caught what might be one of my favorite photos of Scott and I yet.
We left right before the last inning and drove over to Royal Oak to hang for a bit before heading home. I met all of the girls we were with through our Pistons Dance Team and after thinking about putting on a bathing suit in front of a camera, the majority of us stayed as strict as possible on the eating and drinking front.
Besides fresh produce and chicken, I have pretty much been living off of egg whites and an almond, seed, and dried fruit mix I picked up and put together from Target the other day.
I swear, the things we do to prepare for these shoots are hilarious. I am thinking of putting together a complied list of tips and tricks I have learned throughout the years of them. Is that something you guys would be interested in? (Feel free to let me know via the comments section).
Yesterday was a complete blur! It started with an early morning spray tan and ended with a night at the hair salon (again.) I told you… this photo shoot business is serious stuff! 😉
Sunrise Run
I woke up this morning before the sunrise to make sure and get in one last workout before the shoot. I can’t remember the last time I ran outside while it was still dark in the morning, but I can say that I forgot how wonderful it was.
I felt like I was the only one out there. Just me, my music, my thoughts, and the open road.
(Sidenote: notice the long sleeve shirt and sweat pants. It was a chilly one!)
Since I was monitoring my water intake (Day Of photo shoot trick), I didn’t push myself too hard and ended up jogging and walking 3 miles. I came inside and down to the basement to do a series of arms, abs and lunges to finish off my morning sweat before getting in the shower to get ready and left a little after 8 a.m.
Calendar Shoot
I pulled up to the house we were shooting at right at 9. I can’t give you too many details about it yet, but I can say that I felt like a celebrity for a day!
As soon as I got there I was handed a comfortable white Pistons robe, then had my hair and makeup done simultaneously. About halfway through, I had a camera crew surrounding me asking me questions like “tell me about how it feels to be here right now” and shared some of my past photo shoot and NBA dance experiences.
It’s a lot of work to prepare and feel your best at a shoot, but it is one hundred percent worth it once you’re there and on your way to take pictures.
Before changing into my swimsuit, I snapped a shot of my own to document my hair and makeup. They did a great job!
The photo on the left was before and the right was after. During the middle of my session they wanted to punch up the lips and do something fun with my hair. It really helped me get into it and I can’t wait to see the shots!
Today had to be the fastest photo shoot I have ever been a part of. I arrived at 9, was ready to shoot by 10 and changed back into my regular clothes just a little after 10:30 a.m. Whew!
I felt great about how everything went and am excited to share more about it once the calendar and behind the scenes footage is released!
After a 45 minute drive back to our area, I met Scott for a coffee (the first time I have had something fancy and not just straight black in a week!) on Main Street and came home to a box full of Designer Whey goodies soon after.
Happy 20th Anniversary to them and Happy Protein Birthday to me!
I was ecstatic to see so much product all at once and am here to remind you guys that there is still time to get your hands on some too!
You have until Midnight tonight to enter my 1 Year Supply of Designer Whey Giveaway if you haven’t done so already.
All in all, I would say this has been a great weekend. I am just about to be on my way to meet a friend for a late lunch and look forward to spending the evening relaxing at home with Scott and the fur babies.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
Kaitlyn

What a beautiful sunset! I’m so jealous of your chilly evening run wear. It’s about 8 pm and still 100 degrees here in Tucson! I love the other side part/poof they did with your hair! It looks so different but so good. You look gorgeous 🙂
Heather
That was actually in a very early a.m. hour, but sunset runs are pretty similar. I love it now, but let’s talk again in another few months! lol. 😉
Madison
Great hair and makeup! SO beautiful! And I’m sure we all want to hear about your regimen before big events like this. Pretty please!
Heather
Thank you Madison! Okay, I’m convinced to start working on it. 😉

Heather
Aw, thank you so much!
Missy
Yes, definitely share your tips and tricks for photo shoots!
That pic of you and Scott is a good one. Definitely frame-able.
Heather
Thank you! Working on in now… 😉
Kimberly
I’d love to hear your tricks! I have to tell you that you inspired me to dye my hair dark! I had been thinking about it for awhile, saw the pics of you with dark hair and went for it. I love it, but I’ve had to dye it a few times to get it to stay darker (I went from blonde to a similar dark brown/auburn color).
Heather
That’s awesome Kimberly! I love that. It’s always nice to change it up, but I agree that it sometimes takes a few times to get there. Mine took about 3 times to set as well!
Julie
I’d love to hear your tips & tricks as I’m getting married next year 🙂
