Hello friends! I hope you are coming off of a great weekend and were able to celebrate Father’s Day with loved ones. My dad is currently in Michigan with my grandmother, so I had to send my love from afar.
Scott ended up working throughout the majority of the weekend, so I spent a lot of time organizing around the house. I got out for a bit on Friday and Sunday, but this weekend recap can be summed up pretty quickly …
I met my friend, Erin, her boyfriend, Jason, and some of her friends in Prospect Park to watch the Brooklyn Philharmonic perform on Friday night. It was a free concert, and we certainly weren’t the only ones planning to go.
We set up camp far enough away to have space, but close enough to hear the music with a variety of snacks and beverages.
They played for about an hour and a half, and then the show finished up with an impressive fireworks display!
It was a great night to get outside and enjoy some complimentary live music.
Scott got called into work earlier than expected on Sunday, so I walked him to the train stop and found myself right in the middle of a street festival!
There was a lot of great food to choose from, but I was craving a monster salad. Eventually, I caved and ordered a Greek salad with chicken from Bagel Pub on my way to a different train stop to run a few errands.
I also asked to add beets because they looked good. Is that weird on a Greek salad?
Later that night, I watched Game 7 of the NBA Finals with our downstairs neighbors while I waited for Scott to get home and called it a night soon after!
Since I don’t have much weekend talk to share today, I figured I would end this post with the latest edition of Weekly Workouts. Here’s what I’ve been up to on the fitness front lately …
Weekly Workouts
(June 13 – 19th, 2016)
Monday – 4.75 mile run/walk
I love starting the week of with a long run around the park! This one took over an hour and included a lot of walking and stops, thanks to Roadie and his ever-curious nose.
I don’t mind taking it easy on runs from time to time. When I got home, I tried a new (quick) at-home workout for good measure: 10 Minutes to Tighten and Tone Your Entire Body via POPSUGAR Fitness. (<- I loved it!)
Tuesday – Rooftop workout with Michael Strahan’s trainer, Latrael Mitchell!
This was a wonderful event! The workout was only about thirty minutes long, but it wasn’t easy. La started with a mobility warm-up and then led us through a challenging series of bodyweight exercises that also helped us work on flexility.
We went through a lot of controlled squatting, holds, and challenging mobility exercises. I enjoyed it, and I felt sore for days afterwards!
Wednesday – Total Body AMRAP (At-Home Workout)
I only had about twenty minutes to work out on Wednesday, so I really wanted to challenge myself in the time that I had. I turned to a total body workout to share I shared shortly after we moved to our apartment. You can complete it anywhere, as long as you have access to a light and medium set of dumbbells or resistance bands.
This workout is AMRAP-style, which means simply complete each exercise for one minute … as many reps as possible. It’s a doozie!
Thursday – REST, and lots of walking
I was in the City to work a fun event, and then spent the afternoon and early evening showing my friend, Susan, and her boyfriend around. We walked a lot in a short amount of time!
Dancer poses in Central Park? Sure, why not.
Out of nowhere, I started getting a migraine, so I said my goodbyes and hurried home to try and feel better. (Does this ever happen to any of you?) Migraines aren’t even an ounce of fun. Luckily, I started feeling better after eating something substantial, chugging water, taking some headache medicine, and then a nap. I figured I would listen to my body and take a break for the night. Phew!
Friday – Orangetheory Fitness
This was my first time visiting Orangetheory Fitness! I had heard about it a great deal before we moved to NYC, and I was looking forward to finally trying it out for myself.
Our class was an hour long and included a treadmill/rowing endurance challenge as well as three different circuits at a weight station. I really enjoyed it! I’m sure I’ll be back, and would love to share more of an in-depth review in the future.
Saturday – REST
Sunday – Yoga Workout For The Ultimate Bikini Body via POPSUGAR
I rounded out the week with a thirty minute yoga video. It wasn’t easy, but it was a good combination of holds, stretches, and ab work. I’ll be doing it again!

I guess that’s it for now! I’m about to put another workout together that I hope to share with you on the blog tomorrow.
Thanks for checking in. Happy Monday!

I also went to the concert in the park this week, so fun!

That salad looks fantastic, and that AMRAP workout looks tough! I’m going to have to try it sometime!
One highlight from my weekend was biking to my dad’s favorite restaurant with my family for a Father’s Day brunch! 🙂
I started OTF about a month ago when a new studio opened near my house and offered a free week of classes to help them work out the bugs pre-opening. I wanted to hate it because memberships are SO expensive…NOPE. Still love it and continue to justify the expense to myself haha. Hope you get to keep going!
What a fun concert!
Those snacks look delicious! A concert, fireworks, good food and friends sounds like the perfect summer night. I have been wanting to try Orangetheory Fitness, glad you hear you enjoyed the workout.

Beets on a greek salad are normal where I get them here in metro-Detroit! Delicious. 🙂
The highlight of my weekend was my sister’s wedding in New Jersey. Great weather, beautiful wedding. Love your dancer pose!
